AfricanGrower's 1st Hydro Journal - Ebb&Flow - Bubblelicious 2013

Re: AfricanGrower's 1st Hydro Journal-Ebb&Flow/Bubblelicious 2013

Thank you!

She is standing at exactly 11.5 inches at her tallest branch. This branch stems from the 4th node on the plant. I have been able to keep this plant under a foot with over 15 budsites currently while the male plant I took down was just reaching 1.75 ft.

I estimate this plant would have been just over 2 ft if no training was done with only 7-8 main budsites. Hopefully in 2 weeks this will multiply to at least 35 tops. I am trying to pull well over double digits with this one plant, as my goal previously was 1 pound with both plants combined.

The bagseed won't get me over 2 oz combined, but that will all mostly be personal smoke ;)

I wonder if I will even need the trellis at this point because of how even growth is overall. I'll still probably end up using it to support the web of branches I am planning to create width-wise! I have been looking at a few more Bubb yields recently, and it looks like these nugs are going to be densely packed! We will see!

Re: AfricanGrower's 1st Hydro Journal-Ebb&Flow/Bubblelicious 2013

You're still in veg, right? You have 15 sites that want to expand to 35, I think you'll need that scrog trellis to evenly space all of your tops b/c I really think from that point up it will look like your doing a SOG with 35 (likely more) autos or something and stabilizing all that nugget will be a factor. Not to mention the 21 day growth spurt of flowering will likely get you many more sites to manage. Stealthgrow has a similar situation with his superponics cabinet, over crowding in a great way and he now has 3 nets holding his future harvest just where he needs them.

Yes I am, I was thinking the same thing with all those tops. Now the question is to keep the bagseed above or beneath the SCROG?

This is true, but I don't think Bubblelicious will stretch as heavily as Stealth's WW or MK, but I have seen a variety of phenos from this plant so we will see.

Thanks for the encouragement Cultivator ;)

nice canopy control

Re: AfricanGrower's 1st Hydro Journal-Ebb&Flow/Bubblelicious 2013

Thanks B.Real, I really wish I had two plant though, so I can make use of all this vertical space. This being an Indica dominant plant, I know it won't reach 6ft in height at harvest. Maybe I should look into growing some Sativa dominant strains in the future. Or better yet, I can just divide the grow tent vertically: 3ft below for veg, and 5 ft above for flower. A nice little perpetual system going on ;)

Re: AfricanGrower's 1st Hydro Journal-Ebb&Flow/Bubblelicious 2013

I would not flower a plant in a pot smaller then 5 gallons. I believe the area that the medium occupies that holds the nutrients for the plants roots act as a reservoir and that smaller then 5 gallons the cannabis plants may run out of nutrients that they use during a period of time, I have seen a deficiency and less growth with cannabis plants flowered with pots smaller then 5 gallons. I would transplant now and vegetate for 2 weeks to allow the plant some time to grow new roots needed for flowering.

Re: AfricanGrower's 1st Hydro Journal-Ebb&Flow/Bubblelicious 2013

Looking amazing AG, really nice work on the DIY watering arm, and great LST on the plant. +reps my friend. ;)

Don't limit your height by splitting up your tent, it will cause headaches down the road for sure. Especially with height if you need it in future and the light/dark cycles in different sections of the box, unless you have them super light sealed.
You could make a Veg section almost anywhere cause you don't need to worry If it gets more than 12 hours of light. IMHO of coarse.

Thank you for your insight King. It does make sense since root size does directly correlate in overall plant size, as I proved earlier in this journal. I will set out a pot of grow cubes to stabilize overnight, and the Bubb will be transplanted tomorrow. I will be heading to New York this weekend so I will be able to pick up a couple of 5 gallon nursery pots in order to use for a final transplant during flower.

Thanks again Stealth for your advice! I too believe that both sections would need to be sealed off extremely tightly and of course I will have to reconsider height every time I grow. But with my growing style height is barely an issue since I have never grown a plant taller than 3 ft.

I would just use my PC box as a permanent veg box but space restrictions limit me from setting up a cloner in there, which will be fundamental in the future. I can't really set it up anywhere else as stealth is of somewhat importance. I was really tempted to plant that male plant I took down out in the forest behind my house haha, that wouldn't have turned out to well in this cold weather

Re: AfricanGrower's 1st Hydro Journal-Ebb&Flow/Bubblelicious 2013

I decided to take King John's advice and transplanted the Bubb from the 1 gallon pot to the 3.5 gallon nursery pot. As you can see this plant was definitely root bound and it did seem like growth was quite slow the past week or so compared to when it was first transplanted. Hopefully I will be able to see explosive growth the next two weeks before I put her into flower.

Here you can see how everything is setup now. I have now implemented the Ebb & Flow bucket and instead of two buckets, for now I have the other line connected to the DIY drip rail to feed the bagseed this weekend as I will be away. I will let the system run for this whole week to finesse any kinks in the system, but the dry run proved to be pretty smooth. It feeds all the bagseed a combined total of 1/2 a gallon in the 4 minutes it takes the bucket to completely flood. SO I am looking at about 1-1.5 gallons being depleted a day from the res. Having a 22 gallon res, I could potentially leave for an entire week without refilling the tank, but lets see how stable pH is going to remain firstly ;)

I am also a fan of buying a new tire, then building a whole new car around it.

VIDEO UPDATE

Got a little blazed in the AM and decided to make a video explaining the ins and outs of my grow tent. Enjoy.

Re: AfricanGrower's 1st Hydro Journal-Ebb&Flow/Bubblelicious 2013

great vid AG! I'm still digging that low and wide split you got on your Bubb. Now we just wait for all that inner space to fill up and the top of your one plant will look like a forest. I'm so anxious to drop one of these good beans, it aint even funny. Great grow bro! +REPs for the video entry.

Re: AfricanGrower's 1st Hydro Journal-Ebb&Flow/Bubblelicious 2013

A round of thanks to you all!

Sky, how is the progress on your new setup bro? I know that the cabin in the woods is not a high prospect, but should any new developments arise, let me know ASAP. I'm just as anxious to see succeed in your next grow like I know you will given all the info at your disposal ;)

Re: AfricanGrower's 1st Hydro Journal-Ebb&Flow/Bubblelicious 2013

I have left the res standing at 490 PPMs and a pH of 5.9. I will further adjust pH lower to anticipate for future rise. I have also given them their last batch of tea today, so there's not another scheduled brew until next Tues.

I will be gone for about 3-4 days, so I will expect the res to have gone down by 4-6 gallons when I return, so I will top off with 3-4 gallons of tap water at a pH of 5.7 and only 1TSP/g of CaMg.

Next update should be when I come back from my long weekend away, hopefully that will be on Sunday. I will be around the forums as always, but wish my lady luck while I am gone.
