Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - Perpetual

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Actually, I'm a bit concerned for the smallish size of my current stash at 5-6 oz. I prefer to have enough to survive complete crop failure.

Also, I forgot - I have the runoff pH numbers again. Except for KK2, who never drained enough to measure. Her and G13xGB need to get their volume upped. The three new girls need more adjusting:

Code:
BD 6.50
KK2 DNM
G13xGB 6.21
KK2.1B 6.86
G13xGB.1A	6.99
PS.1E 6.89

I imagine KK2 is probably at a better number like G13xGB's. And BD's number is really irrelevant because she's not getting anything but the axe after this.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

At the size of these big girls though, half the bud is hash makin' material. Only the top and outside edges produces acceptable bud. I'm picky. I prefer nugs. 🤷 Not that hash is bad mind you, but more bud would be just fine. I can always hash up kind bud if it comes to that. :thedoubletake:

Thanks for coming by. :smokin2:

:peace:

How do you dry your hash? I made a shit ton of BH today(back is killing) and I usually just leave it out but if there is a better method to dry it I am willingRoorRip.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

I don't dry my hash. I give the raw materials to someone else who lives 2 hours away. They bring back hash. No doubt they make some money off of it, but I get hash for what I would otherwise throw away, so it's hardly my loss. I think they just lay it out to dry on cardboard though.

Harvest!

I cut down BD (Blue Dream) as soon as I got home from work. I popped off all the fan leaves and packed it loosely in a paper-lined cardboard box. I took that to another location and hung the branches in a closet from plastic hangers. Tomorrow it will be trimmed and in 6-8 days I should have dried bud to snip off the stems. I'm looking forward to this stuff. It has a good rep.

Now... who goes in to replace her? Most likely one of her own clones.

What size is the biggest bd clone?

Don't you still have a crylo clone?

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

I have one that looks to be about 30" tall. So she's right in the ballpark. Hopefully I'll have time to transplant it tonight and get it in there.

Yeah, I have a beautiful Crylo, but she's the only one, so I need to clone her first, and she's still just 18" tall. She needs another 6" at least before I would be comfortable cloneing from her. Soon. ;)

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Dare I ask since you are going a little smaller, is there a chance you will throw more than 6 bloomers in at a time because you will have a little more room now?

I don't want to impose but I am absolutely infatuated with this grow and must know as much as I can!!! haha

Nah. I'm going smaller because I don't have room for the bigger girls. I'll stick to 6 at a time, but now I should have more room to work in there.

Your plants are incredibles buddy.
I need to learn your method.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

I transplanted BD.1J into a 5 gallon pot and got her into the bloom room to replace BD. If you have been around my journal long, you might remember BD.1J from Jan 27th, when she was 1/2" tall and already rooted and in a 3.5" pot:

20100127Aber-19-bd_1j.jpg

Now she's 60 times that tall (at about 2-1/2') and going into bloom. What a trooper.

I also put CryLo.1A into a larger (2 gal?) pot. She needs the room I think.

Then, because L1, L2, and L3 were starting to wilt, I used what little soilless mix I had left to put L1 into a 1 gal bag. A bigger bag means the water lasts longer. I have the money to mix a new batch of soilless mix, but the place I buy the ingredients isn't open tomorrow, so Monday I guess for the rest. Meanwhile I'll give them some plain water to tide them over tomorrow. Wilting is hard on them.

Finally, because the cloning foliar spray started turning green, I dumped that and made new foliar in a new spray-bottle.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

I measured the runoff from each of the bloom plants directly last night:

Code:
Plant pH
--------------------
KK2 6.17
G13xGB 6.14
BD 6.37
G13xGB.1A 6.75
KK2.1B 6.67
PS.1E 6.90
It's pretty clear that either the food or the soil (or both) need to be adjusted. Or I could just start adjusting the feed pH to a lower number. To start with, I will correct the last three, and I'm going to change my pre-flush pH back to 6.20. We'll see if that is enough. Only KK2 and G13xGB show any issues at the moment, and I think they are back on track now.

I also have re-thought my assumption about what the runoff pH says about the soil pH. Near the bottom of the pot the soil probably has the same pH as the runoff. Above that it probably gets better on a gradient. So I think using the runoff value directly is probably more accurate that I thought. Can anyone corroborate that?

:peace:

Hiya Bro. Haven't been by in a while, and just got caught up. Man I forgot how much I enjoy this journal. Your plants are spectacular and the convo is always exquisite.

+reps

re the soil ph and runoff. I think your soil pH should not really change in a gradient as you described. I think you should try for a proper mix of soil and drainage (as you've done) then get it properly mixed in the bucket(as you've done). If this is the case, I think the property of water carrying the nutrients and runoff takes care of evening out the numbers throughout. IF, on the other hand you were to have clumps of soil or perlite, or were to water unevenly - then I think you would have clumps of differing numbers, rather than a gradient. That's why its always recommended to take readings from multiple places in the soil. But I think your runoff water should be a good representation of the average.

re the Clearex. Man I hope SS gets a good answer on that. I love the stuff and am a firm believer, and I've tried to figure it out as well. The only thing I've been able to think of that would make it more than just sugar water is that it doesn't cause soup. Quite the opposite. It really does flush the hell out of everything quickly. Sweet on the other hand I'm leaning more and more towards thinking its high priced molasses - but I'm still too chicken to use molasses in my hydro setup. I've gotten soup just from the Sweet. H2O2 killed it quickly, but I'm still chicken.

Edit: BTW - the runoff is only a good measure against the incoming water. Measure before and after to find out what the plants and soil are sucking up.

Un-sulfured molasses (black strap is best) provides food for the beneficials in your soil. I keep hearing it's good for the plants more directly, but have not yet pinned that part down.

They are all doing well. In fact, the clones in the 3.5" pots are doing too well and are far too tall for those pots. I was going to transplant them tonight, but I'm out of time. With no feed tomorrow, I'm hoping to do it then.

This is G13xGB's (@ 44/55 days) last food. After this it is flush only. So quick. It seems like I just put her in. She is huge and has some nice nugs, but I think she would do better as a smaller plant. We will see as G13xGB.1A (@ 16/55 d) matures.

KK2 (@ 44/75 d) is still alarmingly yellow. I'm not sure what to do. I'm pretty convinced I am feeding her the right remedy but I would hate to accidentally maim her now. Until someone points out something better or I think of something myself, I'm just going to have to be patient and trust her.

Everyone else in bloom is looking fine. BD.1J (@ 2/70 d) seems to be acclimating fine. The other three, G13xGB.1A, PS.1E, and KK2.1B (all @ 16/xx d), are doing great. These three have been nick-named Faith, Hope, and Charity by my assistant. All three have popped flowers everywhere in the last 24 hours.

I'll post pics soon, I promise. So much to do. So little time. :bongrip:

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Oh, I forgot to mention this. Remember back on the 14th when I posted that air cloning pictoral? Yesterday (7 days after) I took a peek, and although I had to carefully peel the plug back, I did see roots emerging from the stem. I immediately closed it and re-wrapped it. I continue to keep the plug moist with the clone foliar sprayed at point blank twice a day. I'll check again in a few days. I'll try to remember to take pictures too.

I meant to transplant all of the 3.5" pots to 1 gal bags, but I only transplanted 4 into cut-down 3 gal bags (abt 2 gal). I ran out of time. To forestall wilt in the rest I just fed them the leftovers of the transplant feed.
