5 Unknown Strains - 2012 Grow

I have heard a lot of soils are too hot. I use Promix BX and never have an issue. Seems to be just right for the girls. :)

I plan on getting this new fert line called Jacks LX & Pro. That Promix I seen and I wanted to use it but I dont know why I didnt. How is with drying out? Thats why I like coco cause it dry it out very fast and doesnt water log.

It has good moisture retention. I water every 3-4 days right now and when I get late into flower it can be almost daily.

What if you don't use fresh soil. What if you were to use soil from your last grow. Stuff that has been depleted somewhat. Making it not so hot ..... just a thought.

old soil can be contaminated wit who knows what and has been stripped of any mineral or nutriton. now I know thats sounds good but the amendments that you need to replace in proper ratio would make it cheaper to start fresh. this is why farmers should or do rotate their crops.
does this make sense?

I thought if you flush properly you can re use Coco?

cant tell you about coco. I think thats divoid of everything to begin with and is more a kind of false hydro grow IMO
now you want me to use my daily alotment of live brain cell.

At least use the remaining Brain Cell before you clog it up with bong resin ..... LOL.

Yea I reused my coco before in my hydro. I didnt see any problems. IDK I may not do it again because this time I mixed it with organic soil so I dont know what maybe leaching in it. Just go with paying $4 per brick and mix it with another soil mix I prefer on the new plants. Something with no bugs in it.

OK I d like to share my new idea with growing. This is to effect the way roots grow and to get a good even feed every time by forcing them to spread out threw the medium which will give a much more even and very useful feed. Roots follow the flow of water & moister so I will be using that to trigger the growth of the roots.

Pink-level of soil.
Blue-Flow of Roots
Yellow-(Air Pot-Giga Pots) Main bucket which roots will fill first.

Starting off in a air pot or even Giga pots:thumb: which will work alot better when roots start to exit from the sides giving them more freedom and will start the side ways flow. There will be wholes all over each pot after that. So not only will the roots flow down but out leading into other pots which will give you a greater feed and an open way to more roots to feed more evenly.

I feel this is a good way to go since roots only occupy the outter sides of the soil vs the middle. Its like its transplanting it self. And you shouldnt have to transplant after. Oh and you only feed threw the center pot so that the flow of the water will go Down and then UP and OVER and continuing threw the other pots. That is until roots fill out threw the entire medium.

Also sharing an update on my clones. They are healthy with roots all of them. So in the next week I wil transplant these into there new home. I added a second T8 which does more good. Rapid rooters won as being the faster rooters. Or it may just have to do with stronger clones.

My roots always fill my pots but I like this idea. You might have something here.

Just imagine being able to reach more of the roots more efficiently. I figure the vigor of the plant alone will go grow crazy. Im assuming less ferts will be wasted also. Looking for a good even way to feed. The self transplant also is great.

Nice n green..how many days in are them clones, from start?

I'm hellbent on helpin u not lose any of those younger clones.
And i got a trick up my sleeve to do just that.

Thanks the ones in the rapid rooters are 2 weeks. And the ones in the coco or jiffy plugs what ever there called the big happy sacks are only a few days. Yea I have the new younger clones and ill be pissed if those grow roots and then die on me this time. I keep forgetting to look up this foliar spray that is for clones. Suppose to be some good stuff.

Ok wiz,try this if u will..it will save u some grief..

When u think ur clones are let them pass this test first.
Remove ur dome give them a light steady stream of air from a fan.what this will do is evaporate all mist and humidity from ur leaves forcing it to take what it needs from roots.if roots cant sustain leaves u will see it younger top growth begin to wither upwards right before ur eyes.this process will happen within 10 minutes so don't stray to far away from them.if u notice even just a slight wither or wilt on any of them simply re mist and get them back under a seperate humidity dome because they need to be incubated a day or two more.

For the others that passed this test and didn't wither or wilt.they are ready to be hardened.simply re mist and condense inside of dome and either open ur vents if have any..if no vents create a crack on oneside..this will cause ur condensation to slowly evaporate over the course of a few hours.after a day or two of hardening they are ready to be exposed without dome.

In my case, i run this test on the 12th day exactly, because i clone in a 3by3 inch cup meaning i can't see roots.

Just because we take cuttings all on same day doesn't mean they will all be ready to stand on thier own at the same time.
The small more delicate clones will crash before the larger woodier stronger ones will.

Yea I noticed that. With the softer stems, they tend to be weaker than the woody thicker stems. I leave the vents open at the top about a inch gap from day 1. Thanks for the tips on the clones. Im pretty much waiting until there all strong so I can put them under my T5 so I can use the whole 4ft 4bulb instead of wasting electricity on just 6 when I can fit all 12.

This storm is killing my 400W MH/HPS. It keeps knocking out the power but turns back on. The bulb doesnt light up though so I have to unplug it and wait 2 minutes until I plug it back in. Sucks this storm

Dang, was hoping no one here would be affected by dat bitch sandy..
Anyways, hunkerdown, keep it safe and hope to the god of ur choice that power won't get knocked out for days..

Oh,and don't forget what that big dude from jersey said"don't play hero"

I think im more worried about my plants getting light than me getting hurt lol Yea but this storm sucks big time. Its suppose to get stronger over night. We just have strong winds where im at though. Im really glad my internet is still up and running to. Internet phone and mj got occupied:thumb:

Ok question guys. Ive been as you know vegging for about 7 weeks now and wondering why are the pistols beginning to turn amber?

Cause they are tired of waiting for you to flip them ..... LOL.

No seriously .... I have absolutely no idea. I hope you weather the storm well. A day or two with no lights wont kill them. It might kill the clones ... but your ladies should make it.

Those aint pistols..for sure.

Pre growth for nodes or whiskers perhaps.lol

I wouldn't even worry bout it.seven weeks of vegging u said..
Shit,if we were veggin for seven weeks we would all turn amber too..

Hmmm? Seven weeks..that's gonna be a huge take:thumb:
