480W & 720W LED Grow - Land of Clovers

re: Irish Boy's - 480W & 720w Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

why you have to tease me like that?lol. put gas on the wound. i want one!!! I think they come with a warranty? the hydro store i bought it from went out of business.lol. SOL. you know their gonna send me a replacement but ill have to send this one back and find a place for my girls. maybe after this grow ill send it in.

The Intense is crazy price $1k-3k

But the II looks better then mine like you said. I F'ed up thats all i can say. when i get funds ill throw the Grow Lab into my other room and get a jardin for this room.

Don't feel bad, I couldn't even have afforded the "deal" you probably got on your tent. And it's hard to foresee the store going t*ts-up.

I didn't realize the Intense was THAT expensive. I would have guessed $350-$500, lol. I suppose it's geared toward for-profit growers. Might be of secondary benefit: If you suffer a grievous home-invasion and can't find your Ithaca OR your Ruger, just duck into the tent and close it up really tight:grinjoint:.

I wouldn't mind seeing SJ become a site sponsor. Everything I've read says their products are of good quality.

Speaking of tents, I just got a third Secret Jardin DR80 today.

Thanks for the link TS, I didn't know they had revamped their lines. The new ones sound even better than the old ones, but they don't make one now the size of the DR80, so I'm really glad I got another one before they became unavailable.

I'm glad they left the basic design of the old series, which was excellent, and just upgraded the thickness of the material and the strength of the frame.

Some vendors may be discounting their stock of original models, so may be a good opportunity to get a deal on them.

Once I get my new grow room framed in and get the three DR80's set up in there, we gon' have big fun ;).

I'd like to have a DR80 or three, myself. I'm surprised they are no longer making that size. Wonder why?

re: Irish Boy's - 480W & 720w Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Even stranger, the closest one they have now is the DS90 at 35" x 35" x 62", which seems really dumb. A lot of hydro systems and trays and stuff are 3' x 3', and while some 3' systems will still fit because their base is less than 3', it still doesn't make sense.

The other thing that doesn't make sense is that they dropped the height 2" on the DS90, where the DR80 doesn't have much headroom at 64" to begin with.

If the design committee wanted nice round European numbers, they could have chosen better ones ;).

cant wait to see that grow. wish i had the room to do that, i would have a nice setup. its nice having a tent, makes me realize how much light was wasted in my old setup. i also like looking threw my window in my tent, makes me feel like i am looking in a lab.lol. but the window is unneeded just another thing to leak light.

shit $238 isn't a deal for the POS tent. maybe $100. ya that store was around for tons of years..

not worried about home-invasions, i have some nice dogs just waiting for that. and a gauge thats not too nice.:)

ya that is kinda dumb, shit at least the zipper will stay on ans it would actually be light proof. could you believe all the stitching on my tent in single stitched all on the zippers and seems? WTF!! can even put some triple stitching on? for $238 witch was a deal i would think they would. just sad.

re: Irish Boy's - 480W & 720w Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

good to know.

i was thinking maybe its messed with the smell and taste and thats why they only use it for veg? shit i just watched ur plants get healthy real fast from the seaweed added. i might just use it for the 1st 1/2 of flowering or something.

all i know is its amazing stuff.

not sure its allowed on here to post other links just some good reading ??

Our local Farm Supply store sells the Earthbox for $45, so I'd just go with that if I was looking for a self-watering tub.

But, if you already got an extra tote you can sacrifice, youtube and websites like that one can show you how to set one up.

They are a very good vacation solution, and you can grow monster plants with all that root space if you don't plant too many, or do a mini-sog with eight or so smaller plants.

Search "earthbox" on ebay and you'll get some hits for both the Earthbox planter and some knockoffs.

Or, you can just drill a hole in a tote and make a hempy tub, which will work just as well. JapanFreak had a thread on here with some very nice results using a hempy tub before he flamed out.

re: Irish Boy's - 480W & 720w Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Thanks Setting Sun,

I have a system I use, two totes one inside the other ( 18 Gallons ) two plants one on each end, about 9 gallons of mass root per plant, seems to be working good so far plants r approx: 3 feet high just went into Bloom, Hope they keep trucking along.... But damn I got 60/40 mix and some Hydronto clay balls as well ..Have to water ever 2 days feed, then water the next two days LoL alot of work.LoL I like them Huge Tomatoe jobs and no water at all...Well I should say just the one watering up front...but then again they water through the 1 1/2 pipe I guess

Looks great! and i love Casey! Even tho 'the market' does not...

The side application info is probably just for ease of application to larger established outdoor plants.? kinda like making a tree stake.

Im thinking that coco and CRF might be better off with a precharge before planting.
...
Rinse coco
Rinse coco again.
Mix OC+ and DM red into coco.
Flood with Calmag and seaweed a few times a day for a couple of days.
Plant starts.
Grow.

IDK self watering is the way to go with TRF. i was running a drip system and changed it out, its only good if you go on vacation IMO. too many things to go wrong and it never gives you that watering effect hand watering dose.

A quick question! Should I put my mycoh.... from Perfect fungi, on my little seedlings???
most products use micro and fungi on their starter nutes for seedlings. but i am still new to this whole seen

re: Irish Boy's - 480W & 720w Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Ok heres a up date, feed them yesterday with the general organics roots and weed and cal/mag+. the one girl is showing the spots worse, now their dead spot not red dots, but the growth on those 2 plants is explosive in one day!! new growth in nice and green.

now on the two plants on the right, one of them is showing some weird stuff on her leaves, kinda like some dark black brown color? IDK whats going on? and on the little one well i guess i F'ed up and gave her too much water, she is droopy and withed even worse today, i didnt water her any more then the others. IDK if she will make it? ill just have to see if she will be a part of this grow? Things are not off to a good start! never had these issues before, i guess this what happens when you try to fix something that wasn't broken. should have just stuck to SunShine#4 like i always do. I have a feeling its the coco. ill give them a few days and see how they look? keep ur fingers crossed for my little girl thats over watered.

re: Irish Boy's - 480W & 720w Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

next grow i am thinking of cutting out the coco and just using 50% organic soil mixed with 50% clay pebbles. that sounds like a good mix to me that will still give good air to the roots. ill see how this coco mix treats me 1st.

Now i think i have the perfect idea how to get the best results with these TRF.

start out with OC+ or DM purple make sure some of the prills go by the root hole so the food theirs for the plants. give the 1st feeding with a liquid nute thats complete. veg the girls with the OC+ or DM purple, then once you come to flowering add in the OC 14-14-14 or DM red 13-13-13 that should help with a nice bloom boost. this is how i am doing my next grow. i just have to find out if i should keep it all the same product or mixed them? example OC+ with OC? or OC+ with DM red? DM purple with DM red or DM purple with OC 14-14-14?

this is how i am going to roll. the higher PK should help get our buds nice with a little boost. but the DM purple or OC+ should be more then enough for veg

i swear i think this will be as good as it gets with TRF's.

re: Irish Boy's - 480W & 720w Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

that sucks about your little girl, i will keep my fingers crossed for you, it would suck to have to pull her out of the tent.
with my kali mist when she was young i got some funcky sh*t on my leaves too a dark color spotting, but not small spots kinda big, i just kept an eye on it and it didnt go anywhere just stayed there, everything else stayed great so i ended up just leavin it.

i think ur idea with the OC+ during veg, then red dm would be good. thats exactly what i was trying to do but i could not find any DM here colorado :( just by seeing ur plants man, they looked nice with the red dm and BIG, lol. so im just gonna continue with just OC+ and see how she does, lookin good so far tho. well i hope ur on to something good here, good luck mate!!:grinjoint:

re: Irish Boy's - 480W & 720w Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Heres a nice little DIY for a cheap light proof passive Intake. its cost me $10 for 12' and is allot cheaper and more useful then PVC. I was sitting at home just thinking and thinking how i could build a cheap light proof intake for my tent, because my exhaust fan was sucking in my tent real bad because its a 200CFM in a 4'x4'x6'7" tent with no air filter. so it exhausted allot of air. The main problem was that i could open my tents air flaps but then i wouldn't be able to flower because of the room light was leaking into the tent from the open intake flaps. no good for flowering!!!

so after walking around Lowe's for a while i found the perfect thing!! 12' Flex-Drain pipe. its real light weight and all you have to do is make a 90 degree bend or 2 the light wont travel around the bend. with both of my bright ass led lights i cant see anything leaking out threw the pipe even looking into it. I have 3 of them hook up to my tent 2 down low on each side of the plants and one up top.

Heres some pics.

re: Irish Boy's - 480W & 720w Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Cheaper and easier than an automatic damper with a relay tied in to the light/timer or even a couple of adjustable metal elbows primed/painted flat black inside. I like it.

EDIT: BtW, is the inner surface a flat, non-reflective black or shiny? If the latter, is it letting any light reflect through?

Re: Irish Boy's {480w Grow Led Hydro } Land Of Clovers

i always start my plants off in big pots so i dont have to trans plant, i think trans planting puts more stress on me then my plants:rofl:

ya i am trying to keep them below 30" but i also tried that on my last grow and it defiantly did work out that way.lol. so ill keep a close eye on some Bush Master to keep them girls in check if they want to stretch too high since i am in a tent and less head room then normal.

ya i would have to agree even sounds like a good idea to me, i think they should be just deep enough in hot temps to keep them cooler, but as you can see on my last grow top dressing worked great for me. but having them right above where you put ur clone or seed sounds like the better option when i think about it. some seem to get a N def or something with the TRF and add more to the top or a different brand and it fixes things but i am wondering if the Def was because having the Ferts all scattered around the medium cause the problem? kinda makes sense to me right? so when they top dress with more food it fixes it but maybe that wouldn't be needed if its top dressed. example i went a long long time with the DM purple without any yellowing from a N def when i toped dressed them, but SS had one real quick on his grow when he mixed his DM purple into the medium and fixed things with top dressing some OC+. now it could have been because he flushed his coco with allot of water and that drained allot of N? but it seems it might take allot of water over a long period of time to flush all that N out, because i was feed every 2 days and didnt have that trouble. so maybe just maybe this was caused from scattering the nutes all around the medium instead of just having them in one layer?

love to here others intake on this? what makes sense to me often doesnt to others.:hmmmm:

I think it's going to be strain dependant, ie i have a couple of super lemon hazes that are taking the OC+ well while my Hawaiian Snow is showing bigtime signs of nutrient burn, all mixed the same (mixed throughout the lower part of the container from about halfway down the started plant, but also right below the taproot, maybe too may prills for the HS at the taproot and just right for the SLH?, tried to get it even) the burn only shows on the first set of leaves, the slh had a slight edge tip burn, nothing bad but the hawaiian snow does not like too much food early on.

re: Irish Boy's - 480W & 720w Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Irish I have been fighting with light leaks as well ..I have a Votex 465 cfm exhaust fan on a 10 by 5 tent ( walls getting sucked in as well )...Wonder is that 5 or 6 inch piping..I think 5 right?

its not shinny enough to let light reflect. but if someone were to use black or white PVC then they would need to spray it with flat black paint on the inside. I did want to have that around my plants, so this was a better option for me that made me feel better.

yes some plants like to be feed less then others, but i wouldn't have thought the OC+ would have burned them? did you mix ur OC+ by following their Directions? or did you add more?

this is 4" pipe, i did see any bigger witch i wanted, but i just added them to all of my intake ports to make more airflow.

this is what you can do, take some of the stronger flexible ducting for dryers ect.. they come in 6" get some flat black paint, make a few 90 degree bends and paint the inside so light wont reflect. or you could build something out of PVC with a few 90's but it will be allot more money and you should still have to paint it.
Love the pipe drain! I can spend hours wandering in a hardware store...just thinkin...
yup, i always think the store thanks i am stilling.lol. ill walk around for days looking threw the isles and they not buy anything.lol. must look funny on camera.
Nice! I used the leftover scraps from my 6" metal flex conduit that I use to attach the air-cooled hoods to each other to the same effect. Cheap, lightproof, and good airflow.:goodjob:

b
yup i was weighing out that option but had none laying around and this was a cheaper option. in the summer time i might go with that weight or just hookm up my intake fan:thumb:
