300w LED - Sunset Kush

Re: 420 Consumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Lowryder II by Setting Sun

Buds are looking lovely. Hope you can get some seeds with the "lemonade" that male gave you.

When life gives you lemons... :wood: ;)

The grower's version:

when life gives you lemons....
make some seeds! :ganjamon:

thanks Munki ;)

Sunset Kush.....oh, that's good.

That's a top shelf name....I may have to acquire the rights to use that name.

It's a great strain name, but I haven't sampled it yet. Maybe I'll pinch a little in a week or so.

SS those ladies are looking are looking great. They look bonsai kush tree's. Perfectly manicured and all! Some day I can just imagine giving out ribbons at the local county fair for best groomed bush!
:adore::adore::adore::adore::adore:

Very nice compliment bro, thank you! ;)

Maybe in the not-too-distant future, we'll have a section at the local county fair.

I'd rather judge than display though ;).

Quick update before I drive down to LA today.

Vicky and Shrub are rockin'!

Vicky is drinking about a gallon a day. I put her pot in a dishpan so I wouldn't have to water as often, but she empties it in about two days.

The aroma in the grow room is sublime.

Here's Vicky:

and here's the Shrublet:

I've tested the water reserve on Vicky, and she should be fine for the three days I'm gone next week. The dishpan lasts for two days, and then the water retained in the medium should get over the third day.

Shrub will be OK in her Hempy bucket. She needs watering every 2-3 days, and will definitely be due for a watering when I get back, but should make it fine.

Not sure what the yield will be yet, but things are looking good! :rasta:

:thankyou:!

Re: 420 Consumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Lowryder II by Setting Sun

she looks so sexy! truly amazing what some leds and TRF can do. one of the better autos i have seen

Nokidding! It's just gorgeous.

I think CRF's and LED's are like Chips and Salsa...they go together.

It seems it would be easy to burn the plant under an LED if you had to mix:

Can o Sewer
Bud Factor X
Bud Ignitor
Kushie Kush
Piranha
Big Bud
and Bud Candy

each and every time you watered. Seems like plenty of redundant chemicals....

Or...you can apply a CRF once and water....and get plants like SS's.

i just cant believe i never tried them before. my dad kept telling me to just use CRF and it would be good. but i was so rapped up in the game that i thought hell no, i need the big money stuff to grow pot. i never really fell for the whole hydro store rodeo i mean the at least spit on it before they stuck it to me.lol. not like some with AN the get it stuck to them dry no lube. and spend huge money.

Re: 420 Consumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Lowryder II by Setting Sun

Something must be wrong with that plant, its all healthy, fat and green looking.

It $hould be all burnt on the tip$, with lot$ of yellow fan leave$... ;)

SS,
Your Sunset Kush are looking very fine! :thumb:
Looking back in the thread, it looks like those girls are coming up on 5 weeks in flower. Any estimate of a finish date?

Re: 420 Consumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Lowryder II by Setting Sun

The only problem with that being that my tap water has chloramine, not chlorine, so that may kill any beneficials.

The only way I know to remove chloramine effectively without using an R/O system is to use the stuff they use to remove it from aquarium water.

I think that stuff works by replacing the chloramine with sodium, so I'm not sure whether it would be good or not to use it. The amount to clear 5 gallons is just 2-3 drops, so how much sodium could that add?

But, in any case, I'm going to try it first without removing the chloramine and see how it goes.

thanks OMM ;)

assuming the environment is good, I would have to concur ;)

thanks GMH!

I'd estimate around 3 more weeks or thereabouts, but it's a rough estimate since I haven't grown this strain before.

i bet you pull a few OZ's from each plant.. witch is really good for some autos and the simpleness of your grow with the LED and OC+. those girls should pack on allot more weight on the last few weeks of flowering also:thumb: a truly amazing grow brother!!:goodjob:

Thanks Irish!

They're so fat now, I can't even imagine them putting on much more, but there's plenty of time left.

These two plants aren't autos. The LR2 autos I started the grow with all turned out male, so I grew these two VK hybrids out instead. They are regular photoperiod plants, but they stayed short and stocky, so I can see why peeps would think they're autos.

I'll check that link out, thanks Old Goat!

Looking SWEET SS, I do like the name(SK), definitely jumps out at you like.... I want to try that stuff. :) Nice, I just got back from LA, good times. :peace:

I really like that name too.

Very pretty buds!

thanks grandaddie!

Re: 420 Consumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Lowryder II by Setting Sun

sorry bro i forgot that ur autos turned male. i was seeing how short they were and assumed they were autos. i was going to say those are some fat ass Autos lol..

how tall are those girls? how tall when you flowered? to be honest with leds i think its better to keep the girls short unless you are planing to lollipop some big girls like mine. but on my next grow i am going to try to have my girls finish around 20". my last grow with the 600w my HS were around 25" or so and it was perfect.. it would have been real cool to have about 6 of those HS girls on my last grow right now.lol..

are you planing on adding any bloom enhancers? or just keeping it OC+ all the way threw? I bet they still fatten up allot more, then really pack on that resin.

every time i see those girls they just get fatter and fatter.

Re: 420 Consumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Lowryder II by Setting Sun

We can't use anything with vitamin C in it for growing because vitamin C is ascorbic acid and it will drop your PH like a stone. Those filters release vitamin C into the filtered water.

The AmQuel is what I was asking about earlier as to whether it's safe to use for our plants or not.

I works by replacing or binding the chloramine to sodium, so it would effectively remove chloramines, but it would also add some salt to the water.

Have you used the AmQuel with good results Munki?

Re: 420 Consumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Lowryder II by Setting Sun

Yeah, vitamin C can do it. Check out this product...

Vitamin C Shower Filter for Chloramine Removal

But for our purposes, nothing is as simple and effective as this.

AmQuel®

Interesting find there,
munki.gif
. ;) Most of the other aquarium conditioning agents also remove heavy metals, some of which are used by plants, which this doesn't do. Could this be used in the garden?

Some notes from their site:

AMQUEL said:
COMPATIBILITIES
AmQuel is harmless to plants, fishes and invertebrates. This product is safe for use in aquariums and ponds and will not interfere with normal biological filtration. AmQuel is compatible with NovAqua® and PolyAqua®. Use caution when adding liquid AmQuel to water that has a poor buffer reserve (as indicated by problems maintaining a stable pH). Using AmQuel in these conditions can cause a sudden lowering of pH. To prevent a pH drop, use either AmQuel Plus Buffers or Pure Dry AmQuel instead of liquid AmQuel.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not use AmQuel with chelated copper treatments that utilize a citrate chelation process (Kordon's Chelated Copper is compatible as it uses an EDTA chelation process). Residual AmQuel and its reaction products are also incompatible with the Nessler-type test reagents, resulting in false, high ammonia concentration readings.

I believe ammonium citrate is used in many hydroponic nutrients as a chelating and buffering agent for metals such as iron, copper, magnesium, manganese and zinc, and phosphorus. Does Scotts use them in OC+? I know it's present in Osmocote Exact. OC+ uses EDTA for at least part of their chelated Fe availability (which isn't a problem using AmQuel)...don't want to add anything else that might interfere with the (chelated nutrient) uptake, though.

With either the Vit. C or AmQuel above, you'll probably have to buffer the solution/re-adjust pH once it's added, in any case. Doesn't look like there's any way around that. At least products like GH already contain some buffering agents...

Wondering whether straight Vit. C might still offer the least complications in removing chloramines at this point, pH adjustments aside.

Having chloramines in the water does seem to complicate the inherent simplicity of the 'just add water' philosophy when using CRFs.

<sigh> :(

I think only if you want a grow with a healthy micro-herd, because while chloramines are deadly for fish, I don't think they are generally harmful to plants directly.

In hydro, it's not a problem, but in a soil grow, if you care about the beneficial fungi and bacteria, it's a problem.
