300w LED - Sunset Kush

Re: 420 Consumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Lowryder II by Setting Sun

I'm hoping that their height and shape is not just genetic, but also due to the GLH Spectra 300. Others using these lights have noted the same stockiness and very little stretch in bloom.

I want to grow sativas, and was planning on using Bushmaster to control stretch, but maybe this light and LST will be enough.

:thankyou:

I can vouch for the bloom and 'lack of stretch', if you will. Also in Veg. Very apparent in both stages.

Also, SS. What are you going to choose for a sativa strain? I am eye-balling beyond the brain, from mandala. And maybe their mix pack for a nice variety to get some seed stock.

I'm interested in your choice, and would like to grow the same strain, under my 600W, if possible. :cheertwo:

if you guys are going to use gravity let me know 1st..

Hi Irish,

I would love to hear your gravity tip. Thank you for your threads, you too Setting Sun, they have invaluable info and I've read just about every page!

Particularly your HSS vs HGL comparo, I was almost set on HSS until I reagy that thread!

Based on all I've read so far, I'm going with the GLH 300w, in coco coir/perlite mix with hydroton on the top. Not sure how I'm potting them, simple plastic pots or some of those fancy new ones if I can find them.

OC+ for ferts, plus CalMag to help with coco

Was also thinking about combining the LED with a panel of high-output CFL T5 lamps.

Hope to get my grow started within the month! Planning to do a short 2-week veg then str8 into 12/12, cloning/monster cropping in flower.

Thank you for the help! The results with the GLH LEDs look amazing!

Setting Sun, this grow is great to watch - thanks!

Ill talk to my buddy and ask him.. so just CoCo in a pot?
I know the gravity isn't as bad as the Bush Master, back in the day the directions on the gravity were wrong and they killed allot of crops, so people sent them tons of death threats from what i have read, so they changed it and the bottle is suppose to be better on the directions. I know their newer directions are pretty close to what my buddy was using way back in the day.. give me a few days and i will find out.

i know for a fact you want to flush the plants before using it, then feed just the Gravity and no nutes or anything what so ever. then after the gravity has been feed feed with plan water then start ur reg nutes at 1/4 dose and work it back up. make sure you raise ur light when feeding the Gravity

Re: 420 Cannasumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Sunset Kush by Setting S

That's crazy with the incorrect directions on the Gravity... must've skipped the proofreading stage!

I was thinking 50/50 coco and perlite, was cited as a good mixture on a grow guide I read. I'm now thinking I should approach this scientifically, like you guys... so perhaps half the crop in the proven 100% perlite, and the other half in a 50/50 coco mix.

I have seen great results with the coco, plus its relatively cheap and can also be used for cloning.

Here's a question: I am planning to grow to Mandala strains, their site says the following regarding nutes:

In our opinion a fertilizer with a good NPK formula is a must for good flowering results on coco. Avoid using a fertilizer with considerably higher levels of potassium than phosphorus for example. The ratio between nitrogen and phosphorus needs to be approx. 1:3 during peak flowering. For example a fertilizer with 3-9-8 works well.

Does OC+ count for what they're writing above? It probably does, I'm just gonna rock the OC+ ;)

Glad to see that you have given this forum a more appropriate name. Sunset Kush? Can't seem to find that strain in any of the seed banks.;)

It's alphabetical, mate.

You'll find it right after Sunrise Satori... ;)

will do buddy. I know these products have a strong influence, so I appreciate the offer.

:smokin:

Also, SS. What are you going to choose for a sativa strain?

The PPP I'm growing for the comparison is a sativa strain, and then down the line maybe some Grapefruit. Arjan's Haze #3, and malawi mini are also on the radar. Basically looking for shorter strains that don't compromise too much cerebral high to be short.

I'm interested in your choice, and would like to grow the same strain, under my 600W, if possible. :cheertwo:

I would love to see Go journal ;)

have fun buddy

i talked to my buddy right now and he said that the directions on the newer bottle i pretty close now to what he's been using from the get go. so just in case you have the old direction like my bottle dose then i will tell you what he recommends.

1st you dont need to raise the lights.

now their two ways of doing this.. with a little nutes or just gravity alone.

if you feed with nutes cut ur nutes in half, then 4 weeks before harvest feed you plants 1/4tsp per gal of gravity 3-4 watering in a row.

if you feed with just gravity then 4 weeks before harvest feed 1/2tsp per gallon 3-4 times in a row..

always flush you medium before adding gravity.

the bottle will say 3 weeks before harvest and he recommends 4 weeks before harvest.. its up to you.

I know he always told me to talk to him before using Bush ,aster because thats the one that will screw up ur leaves and stuff like that, not to sure if Humboldt is caught up on the directions with BM yet.. but i will ask him when someone wants to use it, and they can take that info into thought.

This GHL LED light has exceeded my expectations, which I try not to have, but still do.

I'd say it's a very worthy opponent to a well-tuned 400w HID system, which just hapens to be exactly what I have one tent to the right ;).

Re: 420 Cannasumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Sunset Kush by Setting S

they look nice and fat good job.. i have one question and maybe its just me and the pics, but do you think the plants are lacking in resin? do you think its the strain or the OC+ doing this if i am seeing things right.. i know its hard to see in the pics and the only true way is in person. just wanted to get ur thoughts?

the shrub is my favorite, nice and stacked.. how tall are those girls?

welcome back brother

Pretty damn impressive for just OC+ and nothing els.. mind blowing if you ask me..

Re: 420 Cannasumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Sunset Kush by Setting S

thanks Irish!

Nice to be back home.

It's not the pics or lighting, the buds aren't heavily covered with trichs, but we'll have to see how things go and see how it smokes.

I still haven't sampled any ;).

The Shrub turned out really good in the regular Hempy bucket, so I see no need to use the bubble setup in future grows.

I would be perfectly happy growing plants like the Shrub ;)

Re: 420 Cannasumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Sunset Kush by Setting S

Gee whiz SS, those girls are just about as perfect as you can ask for!

Irish, thanks for the info on the Gravity - I have room to splurge on one additive as i'm going to save so much using OC+. I how people are getting great results with it, which is so much more economical and easier to get than the cannabis nutes. It makes sense - its 2010, after all, thanks whoever makes the stuff!

Would much rather invest money in lights!

thats good to know about the Hempy. and yes that shrub is a very sexy plant i would be happy with that any day.

i wonder if its the strain? or the OC+ thats making them lack in resin? from my grow and others we can rule out the lights.. i am maybe thinking its the OC+? ive seen a few grows with it now and they seem to be lacking in the resin department compared to other grows ive seen with the same strain. have you thought about adding an additive for that? how much longer would u say they have until harvest? maybe they will back on resin at the end?

its seems everything their but the super frosty buds. sometimes its not the look and at the end it smokes great..

the thing that scares me about these TRF is the smell once harvest.. ive noticed in the past when i have used high N in flowering my buds always smelt like hay. once i changed up to the Lucas Form last grow i didnt have that problem. i am pretty sure it was from too much N..

i have noticed that the OC+ wasn't the best idea for me in these temps, it seems it is dumping its nutes too fast and giving out too much N on the 2 plants using it. all the DM plants are doing great even with the high temps. ive noticed a branch falling over on the OC+ plant. the only thing i can think off is its dumping out too much nutes because of the heat?

now on the DM plants its very hard to say whats doing better out of the red or purple bottles... its like a rat race the red will be doing better then the next day the purple will be on its ass then the red then the purple ect... i hope the purple bottle dose better because it has a better micro nute profile then the red.. all the DM girls are in full blown flower mode and flowering very fast with the 10/14 light time. never seen flowering happen this fast. everyday its a change in the flowers.. the OC+ are flowering also just not a fast or big.. who know we will have to see at the end. i hope they all do great..

i agree its a very easy and cheap way to grow. the company that makes OC+ is scoots and have been around forever, they know their stuff about plants probably more then any MJ nute out their..

ive used the gravity before but didnt have the best results, i have found that is reacts different with each strain, sometimes it will make ur buds fluffy from what happen to me and a few others have seen. but i think if you use it at the right time you will be good. if it were me i would use 3 weeks before harvest. i think all of their products are great but they cost allot for the that small of a bottle size. i rather buy a lb of cha ching or something. i like my bud blaster but it isnt cheap either. ive been wanting to try the MG flower boost, its like only $5.00 and has the same NPK as most others that want $30.00..

I'm all about what works best for the best price, we're talking chemical formulations here, everything else is just marketing! ;)

I will have to look into cha ching and bud blaster; I've also made note of someone (DocBud?) liking the Green Fuse bloom.

All I know is that paying $75 for a bottle full of chemicals that probably cost .10c (plus shipping, etc) is a situation I avoided nicely, thanks to these threads! Woo hoo!

Way too many choices and combinations! :smokin:

no the Green Fuse is what i use.. really good stuff.. thats a all the way threw feeding thing for flowering. to be honest ive never really seen a late bloom additive that just made my jaw drop. once i am out of all my other additives i will be buying the Miracle-Gro bloom food.. its way cheaper then all the other stuff. $5.00 is good to me.

it will be a while because i have allot of bloom additives.lol. Bud Blaster, Kool bloom, MOAB, Gravity.lol.. i always go back to the Bud Blaster, but i just got the MOAB and haven't really played with that too much..

at the end i will never get rid of my Green Fuse, its great stuff. B'Cuzz also make something thats equal but its not 100% organic like GF is.

Dont fall into all the bloom additive hype, they do work and some better then others, but they wont make ur jaw drop in most cases.. put that money into making a good environment for ur grow area.. good environment and genetics is where the yield is at.. or buy 1 that is in powder forum so u get ur moneys worth. the gravity from what ive been told will go bad after 6 months. where my powder will last for years. ive had my bud blaster for a few years now and i paid $25..

Trichs are farther along than I thought they would be. It's probably going to be more couchlock than I wanted, but that's OK. Mrs. Sun should like it for her insomnia, and I like to have a nice mix of strains/effects.

The buds are still swelling, although they've slowed down.

I'll check them over again tonight and decide when to harvest, but it's going to be real soon.

Re: 420 Cannasumer Reports - GrowLEDHydro Spectra 300w LED / Sunset Kush by Setting S

That's odd SS...I noticed the same thing with my ladies today...and now I have a more clear understanding of things when it comes to cerebral/couchlock highs. As it sounds simple, it is not without some thought. LoL

How the hell do you get such good pics? I need me whatever that is...

Dude...Beyond the Brain...It's on the top of my list. Malawi Mini is out from attitude, and I believe Arjan's haze is fem only? I am still back to hashberry I think, and BTB from Mandala...
