2 Girls & 1 Kit: Major PITA Takes High Brix Outdoors, Summer 2015

Thanks SS, c23 and MMM!

Yeah - not worried much about pests with these girls. I had plenty of problems on my last grow, but these plants are so healthy they can hold their own.

If I do run into a pest problem, I'm thinking it will be later on. In late July and August the grasshoppers can do a number on damn near anything that grows. I don't know about cannabis, but I assume they have a taste for it. Time will tell once the little bastards are hopping around. It's kind of funny watching the wild turkeys. The grasshoppers are like popcorn in the grass. The turkeys run into each other chasing after them. They are everywhere.

I was down there at 4:45 this morning to Brix the two HB plants. I mixed up 8 oz., but it seemed marginal. I think next week it will be 12 - 16 oz., depending on growth. I love how they follow the sun - like sunflowers. When I check on them late in the day, they all are facing west, watching the sun set. Early in the morning, even before the sun is up, all of them are facing east, waiting to catch the first light of day. Very cool!

As for the security thing, I feel like I have maybe a 50/50 chance of getting anything from this grow. Stay tuned...

:thanks:

Major...Good luck with the security thing brotha. Unlike growing with Doc's gear, luck has everything to do with O/S plants. MMM got it goin on....fu..in eh MMM. Whatever it takes to not worry over them...that's how i see this. Major...you'le prolly be OK given your sit...I sure hope so bud...cuz that would really bite....they look so nice . Cheers eh.

For your climate the biggest concern are bud worms in September. Gotta look for these critters, Major!

will that take care of thrips and aphids, doc? and can it be sprayed on flowers/plants like petunias, house plants and avocado trees? the GF is having a bug problem with her plants outside.

major, a sign that says your german shepherd is on vacation, and Smith and Wesson are covering may work great!! :)

...or that my german shepard is learning to use his new S&W...

So...
I made a little cannapasta for Mrs. PITA. The stuff is kick-butt-strong so I cut it in half and added it to some of my regular semolina pasta. Verrrrrry nice!

Dinner time! :yummy:

For us, last night's dinner was perfect. The first time we ate the pasta, it knocked us out. Very sedative. Since I cut the amount of cannapasta in half, it was great. After dinner we played a game of bocce. The Mrs. was laughing with every bowl (bocce bowling). The pasta also tasted better. The first time, the taste was almost overpowering. I used the sugar leaves off my last harvest - about 1 oz., ground it up, added olive oil, and put it over a double-boiler for about two hours. After squeezing the oil out, the MJ was used to make the pasta. I haven't used the oil...yet. :thanks:

Truly creative on the Canna-pasta Pita. Could you PM me the recipe?

You bet. I'll add it here too in case anyone else is interested.
First my standard pasta recipe (enough for four servings, or one lasagne - can be halved, doubled, etc.)

2 cups flour of your choice (Semolina* is great and traditional. Regular all-purpose flour works just fine. Whole wheat works but you will need a little more water and the texture is "off")
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs at room temp
2 teaspoons olive oil
2 tablespoons water, or as needed

*Semolina comes in two different grinds. One is like flour. That is what you want. The other common type is more granular - almost like fine-ground polenta. It works in small amounts - maybe 1/3 of the total flour, but remains slightly grainy.

Mix flour and salt together on a clean work surface. Push it into a mound. Create a well or hole in the middle of the mound. Mix all wet ingredients, whisk together, then pour into flour well. Slowly work the flour into the center with a fork so that the flour absorbs the wet but you don't lose containment of the wet stuff. Soon enough it will all be incorporated.

Wrap in plastic wrap and let sit for about 1/2 hour. This lets the flour hydrate. Now you need to knead the dough, either by hand or with a dough hook on a studly mixer. Continue kneading until uniform, elastic, and a little glossy. Add more water by the teaspoon, if dough is crumbly (careful - it takes a while for the water to take effect and it only takes a little to make the dough too sticky). Wrap dough again and either refrigerate until ready to use, and/or let rest at room temp for 1 hour. Either with a pasta roller or rolling pin, roll pasta to desired thickness. Cut to desired shape. Fresh pasta cooks quick - just a few minutes in boiling, salted water.

The only thing different about cannapasta is, leave out the olive oil since the decarb'd cannabis already has plenty of oil in it. In fact you need to remove as much of the oil as possible to keep the pasta from being too oily. For one full recipe of the pasta above, I used about 1/2 oz. of sugar leaves, finely ground. How much to add depends on how potent it is and how strong you want the pasta.

This is the same recipe I use for spinach pasta. The only difference with spinach is, you use the oil given in the recipe but omit the water. If I'm using frozen, chopped spinach, you can use one full box (like 10 oz?). Thaw and squeeze the bejezzus out of it to remove all the water possible.

If anything is unclear, let me know.

The Pitbull got 22 ml GE, 5.5 ml Trans and 2 ml Tea this morning.
Ace of Spades was up for a Trans watering using 5.5 ml.
Both were only given 2 gal. water. From here on I am watering more often - probably twice per week or every three days.
