2 Girls & 1 Kit: Major PITA Takes High Brix Outdoors, Summer 2015

You bet. I'll add it here too in case anyone else is interested.
First my standard pasta recipe (enough for four servings, or one lasagne - can be halved, doubled, etc.)

2 cups flour of your choice (Semolina* is great and traditional. Regular all-purpose flour works just fine. Whole wheat works but you will need a little more water and the texture is "off")
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs at room temp
2 teaspoons olive oil
2 tablespoons water, or as needed

*Semolina comes in two different grinds. One is like flour. That is what you want. The other common type is more granular - almost like fine-ground polenta. It works in small amounts - maybe 1/3 of the total flour, but remains slightly grainy.

Mix flour and salt together on a clean work surface. Push it into a mound. Create a well or hole in the middle of the mound. Mix all wet ingredients, whisk together, then pour into flour well. Slowly work the flour into the center with a fork so that the flour absorbs the wet but you don't lose containment of the wet stuff. Soon enough it will all be incorporated.

Wrap in plastic wrap and let sit for about 1/2 hour. This lets the flour hydrate. Now you need to knead the dough, either by hand or with a dough hook on a studly mixer. Continue kneading until uniform, elastic, and a little glossy. Add more water by the teaspoon, if dough is crumbly (careful - it takes a while for the water to take effect and it only takes a little to make the dough too sticky). Wrap dough again and either refrigerate until ready to use, and/or let rest at room temp for 1 hour. Either with a pasta roller or rolling pin, roll pasta to desired thickness. Cut to desired shape. Fresh pasta cooks quick - just a few minutes in boiling, salted water.

The only thing different about cannapasta is, leave out the olive oil since the decarb'd cannabis already has plenty of oil in it. In fact you need to remove as much of the oil as possible to keep the pasta from being too oily. For one full recipe of the pasta above, I used about 1/2 oz. of sugar leaves, finely ground. How much to add depends on how potent it is and how strong you want the pasta.

This is the same recipe I use for spinach pasta. The only difference with spinach is, you use the oil given in the recipe but omit the water. If I'm using frozen, chopped spinach, you can use one full box (like 10 oz?). Thaw and squeeze the bejezzus out of it to remove all the water possible.

If anything is unclear, let me know.

So gonna try this, blogging to save,, reps my friend nice one!

For us, last night's dinner was perfect. The first time we ate the pasta, it knocked us out. Very sedative. Since I cut the amount of cannapasta in half, it was great. After dinner we played a game of bocce. The Mrs. was laughing with every bowl (bocce bowling). The pasta also tasted better. The first time, the taste was almost overpowering. I used the sugar leaves off my last harvest - about 1 oz., ground it up, added olive oil, and put it over a double-boiler for about two hours. After squeezing the oil out, the MJ was used to make the pasta. I haven't used the oil...yet. :thanks:

I might have a woody,, seriously. I'm gonna have some sugar leaves very soon... so happy, so happy.... ;) ty

Cool! Let me know how it goes. :high-five:

I'm trying my hardest to hold of harvesting,, want to go as long as possible,, but, dude. I'm hungry. ;) think Friday is harvest number one....

So you're proficient in the kitchen as well? That looks delicious. I've already given you the daily allotment of rep points, since you were so amazing elsewhere today. Hell Major, are you ever NOT amazing? :laughtwo::green_heart:

Snooze...I want one too! Have a nice rest Major...:thumb:

Thanks bro! That was last night after the evening of trivia and brews. I grabbed a quick 5 hours. :tokin:

Hey friends -

The plants are doing well. I should have another update this weekend.

In the mean time, I'm getting more and more of these small-ish white bugs. At first I thought they must be whiteflies but they tend NOT to be on the bottom of the leaves. So far they seem to prefer being on top. They hold their wings in very close to their body so they look like a tiny piece of rice. No "honeydew" and, so far, no eggs I can find. They will fly if disturbed enough, but usually just crawl a little distance away. Can anyone identify what they are and how serious they might be? What's weird is, they tend to be mostly on the HB plants. The rest of the garden doesn't seem to be bothered by them. I'm getting some spots on the leaves too, but I'm not sure if they are due to the bugs or something else.

Overall, the plants are rocking it, but I'd like to be proactive if necessary. Any help is appreciated.

Oh I got this one Pita, had them last Spring. They're Leaf Hoppers & are nothing more than a nuisance, didn't do any harm to my plants. When we got them Bill wised me up.

Good morning BAR. That's a Leaf Hopper. I never worry about them. They suck sap from the leaves. I have never seen any damage from them. It's Freetheweed day and the weekend is in sight. :volcano-smiley:

:thanks: I'll read up on both thrips and leaf hoppers.

The Weakly (Week #10 / Day #67)
10 days and counting to legal recreational in Oregon

Happy Summer Solstice Eve! :420: Since tomorrow is the beginning of summer for the northern hemisphere - the longest day of the year, I guess that means my plants get flipped on Monday. :cheesygrinsmiley:

All I have to offer are more boring veg pics. The plants each added 5-10 inches last week, with 7", (1" per day) being the average. I could swear they were growing more quickly up until the last couple of days. I'll know by the next update if I'm right and their growth has put the brakes on. If so, I suspect it is because these 25 gal pots are FULL. Shoulda, coulda, woulda used 50's if I'd known...

The Ace of Spades are still the biggest AND the smallest at an even 4 feet for the one in Hi Brix and 38 inches for the one in OrGanic soil. I still also suck at getting photos that are interesting and give any point of reference. The Mod's do not like it when I take regular garden/pond/yard pictures so I try to stay in tight.

There is a very nice skunky scent in the garden these days. :thumb:

The PB last got 150% of what I call drench #4 = 1/4 Transplant (if that makes any sense) = 5.5 ml. The AoS got 150% of my Drench #1 = 22 ml Transplant + 2 ml Tea. Tomorrow is Brix day for them. It now takes 16 oz. water + 16 ml Brix to give the two of them a good misting.

I've noticed each plant drinks just about 1 gallon per day. When I give them 4 gallons, they can go 4 days. With 2 gallons, they need it every other day. Now that the pots are full o' roots, I am going with feedings/waterings every other day and returning to a 100% drench concentration. My 100% concentration will be 15 ml G.E. or Trans and 1.5 ml Tea. The 1/4 Trans water will be back to 4 ml per plant. So every other day each plant will rotate through:

Drench #1 = 15 ml Transplant + 1.5 ml Tea
Drench #2 = 4 ml (1/4) Transplant water
Drench #3 = 15 ml Growth Energy + 1.5 ml Tea + 4 ml (1/4) Transplant
Drench #4 = 4 ml (1/4) Transplant water
REPEAT

I may get spanked, but as a side note, I hand fertilized some of the corn yesterday (not what you think :thedoubletake: :laughtwo:). The old saying for corn goes, "Knee high by the fourth of July." We still have 10 more days in June and the corn ranges from 3 to more than 6 feet tall - most about 5'.

The chard, broccoli and peas are done. Tomatoes and peppers are coming on strong. Some of the tomato plants are as big as the MJ! All are at the opposite end of the garden so you may never see them. More zucchini than I know what to do with. Other squash, eggplants, tomatillos just getting going. Potatoes and beets are looking close to done. Carrots never got going. <_<.

That's all folks! Enjoy this beautiful weekend. Summer begins tomorrow, so it is all downhill from here. Please stay tuned. I'm looking forward to some bud shots. If there is anything you'd like to see or know that would make my journal more interesting, let me know.

:thankyou: for following, my friends.
