1st Time Grower Box Build - 1st Clones And New Grow - Maui Wowie - GDP - LA Kush

Nope ... Mini Me is GDP .... and is doing good.

I don't have a dome over them. Just put them in dirt to fend for themselves. But, left the rapid rooter intact. So, it has plenty of water in the rooter plug. Plus, I soad the dirt really really good. That way they don't dry out from the dry soil. I mist them and just leave them under the T5's.

On a different subject ......

Does anyone have any burning questions they would like me to ask Subcool and his crew the Green Avengers when I attend the Subcool school of Dank Fri, Sat and Sun??

They are gonna be talking about medical marijuana, growing, harvesting, cloning, soil, hydro etc ... TGA Genetics and Subcool also has thier own strains and seeds. If you are dying to ask something, throw it my way and I will be more than happy to talk to them and get you some good info. If I'm not too baked that is ..... LOL.

That's f'n awesome that you're going to the school of dank!! I love subcool. Let him know he has fans halfway across the world :) Me and me friends follow his show. If you happen to talk to him, tell him we say hello :ciao: and peace :) :peace:
I recently found your journal. Just smoked a joint and decided to go through it lol :grinjoint:

welcome to my journal. What country you in?

I've smoked some Querkle and Jack's Cleaner and it's some kick ass weed. I really want to try Qush, Qleaner and Jack the Ripper.

Good news on the LA Kush clones.

I usually take the dome off the cuttings after the third day and usually see roots by day 10 or 12 and transplant no problems. Just what seems to work for me.

I'm thinking they were relying on the dome humidity a little too much and took thier time rooting because of it. Just a thought anyway.

I'm back from the Subcool School of Dank. What a class act. Great time, great people. Fantastic weed. I'm so fucking tired. Stayed up way past my bedtime for several night in a row. And, smoked WWWwwwwaaaayyyyyy too much weed. I was also pleasantly suprised with flowers all over my girls when I got home. I will deffinitely give you guys the run down on how the weekend went. I'll share some of the really cool info I got and tell you about all the cool stuff that was there. But, you're going to have to wait till morning. I'm just too spent and need to get some sleep. I'll do a really good update on clones, and plants with new pics.

I will answer UG question though ......

They finally got registered to sell Super Soil in WA state. So, as soon as they get some distributors set up, it'll be avaible as they get up to speed. Not sure about Canada, but I would assume it would be cost prohibitive to ship outside the country. But, they do have the mix (can't remember the name of it) that you just add to your own soil base ... that turns it into super soil. I'll send you the specifics .... I'll have to look it up. They said they could ship that anywhere in the US ... not sure about Canada.

OK,

Now that I've cleared out some of the bong resin from my brain and got some sleep, I'll get down to business. Unfortunately, I never took any pictures (forgot my camera) so I can't share pics of the event (till they post some) right now. I will toss up some pics later if I can find some.

Friday, the event didn't start till 7 PM and it was in the SODO disctrict of Seattle (industrial). I wasn't really looking forward to the location. But, when I arrived, even thought it looked like a warehouse on the outside. Once you enter the front door into the building it was very nice. It was a very nice clean event area. It has confortable seating, a stage for the presentations. Tables and booths set up for vendors. Tons of glass bongs, pipes, etc .... made by TGA's Jinxproof (the Host for the event) at the Dank Tank. They had a space set up for the glass blowers where they could make pieces while people watched. All the pieces they made there were donated and raffled. Every penny went to Autism. Bob Snoddgrass and his son where there along with many other very good glass blowers (can't remember names .... too many).

There was an outside area upstairs that was covered and you could medicate any time you liked. It was the most popular area the whole weekend. This is where most of the best growers brought jars with thier best buds. They all wanted to show off thier skills and there was some absolutely fantastic weed there. This was the kind of weed that puts Collective / dispencery top shelf weed to shame. This was private reserve top shelf stuff. I was so impressed. I got to try Space Queen, Romulan, Ripped Bubba, Jilly Bean, Oregon Blue (new test strain), Jacks Cleaner II, Vortex, Bubblegum, The Flav, Chernobal, and others that I either forgot to ask or just plain forgot the name. Of course, lunch and munchies (throughout the day) where provided.

Most everyone there used Subcool TGA Genetics products. So, of course it dominated the conversation. There was thousands of years worth of accumulative knowledge in the room. If a question needed an answers, people didn't guess. They pointed you to the guy who created the answer. It was so nice to hear things from the experts themselves. I learned so much.

The first night, Subcool talked about where he was from, his first grows, the different challenges of growing in different areas of the country. Pitfalls and problems involved in the cannabis businesses. Then, after the meet and greet, he just sat with many of the guests and talked one on one about any and every subject under the sun. This is where I got most of my helpful info, because you could get very specific to you own requirements.
The second day, it was more on topic. There were specific lectures throughout the day. They started with dirt .... Supersoil. Explained in great detail. From potting all the way to harvest. Every ammendment in the soil was explained and what it did specifically to help your grow (way too techinical for me) ..... some of these guys must be chemists or something. They did live topping and lollipopping so everyone could get a great visual demonstration. Then, took clones from the cutting so everyone could get good look at that. Rapid Rooters were the medium of choice. All though some in the room used dirt or water. The majority all used Clonex and Rapid Rooters. They went over seeds and even talked about germination and how to sprout. Once again rapid rooters dominated. people talked about paper towels, dirt, soaking in water and all that. But once again what dominated was ....... soak your rapid rooters in water. Flip the rooter upside down and poke a new whole in the bottom. Dip your seed in clonex ..... and place it into the rapid rooter. Push it into the whole about a 1/4 inch. Put the seed into the rapid rooter with the pointed end facing down. The round end (where the stem attached) should point up. That is where the seed will hinge and will sit on top of the sprout like a hat when it opens. That way, it doesn't have to work to flip itself around. Put the humidity dome over the seeds and don't touch the dome. LEAVE IT ALONE till you see roots. There were speakers there from Normal, Cannabis Action Coalition and other places. There were live glass blowing demonstrations.

But my favorite part where the seeds. Every seed they had was available at the event. I picked up a couple of 5 packs earlier during the event. But, then at the end of the event, I ended up winning a raffle for a seed pack. Here is what I ended up with when I left on Sunday.

Chernobal 5 pack
(Bloodwreck x Trinity x Jack The Ripper)
60/40 Sativa/Indica

Cheesequake 5 pack
(Exodus Cheese x Querkle)
55/45 S/I

Jillybean 5 pack
(Orange Velvet x Romulan x Cindy99)
60/40 S/I

Querkle 5 pack
(Purple Erkle x Space Queen)
20/80 S/I

Spacedawg 5 pack
(Snodog x Spacequeen)
25/75 S/I

The Void 5 pack
(Apollo 13 x Querkle)
60/40 S/I

Timewreck 5 pack
(Bloodwreck x Vortex)
70/30 S/I

And lastly

Ripped Bubba 5 pack
(Bubba Kush Pre-98 x Jacks Cleaner x Space Queen)
40/60 S/I

I've never been able to find any of these seeds for less that 60 bucks (you do the math) ..... so, I can't believe my luck. I've got enough seeds now to grow for a whole year.

The last day was spent with alot of Q/A which was very informative. Then there were some lectures from a Lawyer about I-501, a Doctor about what MMJ is like from thier end and how the medical field tries to shut it out. There were several MMJ actavists talking about new politics. And lastly and most importantly, there was a lady there to talk about Autism and brought letters from families to thank us .... since all the money went to them. There were alot of tears in the audience. The whole event made you feel good and I think every single person left with a smile on thier face.

My lights are getting ready to come on. So, in a few hours I'll take some pics of my girls and show everybody the new flowers that showed up. Check back in later for some cool pics and an update on my grow.

Right on bro.
Sounds like you had a good time!
And looks like you're set up for strains for a while!!

:peace:

It was ..... the vibes were great. No stress .... no fear ..... no drama .... no crime. People left their peices out and mason jars of weed and nobody messed with anything. Not one coat, purse, lighter or anything went missing. Everyone left with a smile.

Now for my update.

Day 19 (or 20 depending on who's counting) of Flower (with BPN)

So,

After talking to Subcool and Dioxin about clones, I realized (after going into detail about my setup) that in my basement the temps are still too low. So, it was suggested that until I can fix it, I should use my lights to get me by. So, I lowered my T5's as low as I could. I set the clone tray on top of the light bars (for the heat). I did this as soon as I got home from the School of Dank. When I got home I looked and only two more clones had roots. So, I left them there overnight. When I went down this morning, eight others had roots. SSsssoooooo ...... in the very near future, my clone box is getting a heating mat. That should solve the issues since all the other elements are good to go.

Second lesson ........ when your clone tray is sitting on top of your lights. Be very careful when moving your bubble cloner (when the air hose and two power cords are tangles in the cord for the lights. I went to pull out my bubble cloner. The cords pulled on the lights and it dumped my whole tray of clones onto the floor. This was a good thing and this was a bad thing. It was good because it finally got me to give up on the bubble cloner (which wasn't doing well) and toss it in the corner. All the bubble clones were wilting and are now compost. What tiny roots they had weren't plantable and the water was starting to get icky. The other good thing that happened was this. When your rapid rooter tray hits the floor, all the plugs bounce out on the floor. The clones that have root stay inside thier rapid rooters. The clones that aren't going to make it ... that don't have roots. Well, they just pop right out of the rapid rooters and lay on the floor. So, there is no guessing as to which ones are rooted and which ones are not. So, everything that was attached to it's rooter (and showed roots) was planted. Everthing that fell out ...... is compost. So, no more cloning for now. All my clones are planted into dirt this morning. I've already have one of each (Maui, GDP and LA Kush) picked out for a future crop. The rest will veg for a week or so ... till they are showing new growth. Then I'll give them to a collective a like and give the rest to a couple patients I know.

Does anyone really need to me to list the reasons why dropping your tray of clones on the floor .... is a bad thing?? The only major issue was that I didn't know which clones where which. I could tell all my Maui were the tallest one. And, since all the LA Kush were rooted (LA Kush is so easy to clone) then the rest have to be GDP. The ones I couldn't tell ..... are also compost.

As for the girls. Well, they got big while I was gone. It's much easier to see growth when you're gone for a couple days. Here's how they look today.

The biggest problem I have right now is that it is raining to beat all hell. There is so much water it's driving up the humidity. It's also colder in my basement. So, I can't keep my temps up high enough and my humidity is about 60. So, I needed to do something. So, I cranked up my exhaust fan to about 50-60 percent. The problem with that is that it draws in more moist air. So, I had to do something to dry things out. So, I put a small electric space heater in the box. It has a thermostat and keeps pretty constant. I placed it in the bottom of the box and let the heat rise to be suck out by my vent. The problem there was that it was drying out many of the leaves by blowing hot air on them. And, the heaters thermostat had the temps at the bottom of the box at 75 degrees. That made the temps at the top of the box in the 90's.

Space_Heater_1.JPG

I figured that was a little high. So I decided to move the heater. I placed the heater at the top of the box. I hung it on a couple of hooks and placed it in front of my little fan. The fan catches the hot air and blows it down towards the plants. This makes the temps more stable and they don't fluctuate as much. It also keeps the temps up top a little cooler. This keeps my temps in the mid to upper 70s.

No for some close ups. I am so happy with the amount of flowers I had when I got home. I only had little hairs and preflowers when I left. Now I actaully have really honest to god flowers. I am so happy with my grow and with the BPN stuff I'm using.

Here's the MAUI

That's about it for now. I watered them today and gave them a good once over. They couldn't be happier. I think I'm finally getting the hang of things.

Enjoy.

Nice update Mutt.
Looks like you've got everything under control with humidity and temps.
Plants look really happy!!
