1st Time Grow For My Beautiful Broken Brain

That tank you are adapting is almost like a bigger version of my "spacebox"?? The idea for which came from another thread here about "space-buckets". :)

Am just waiting for seeds to break surface before putting 22 plants in there to try a "puddle of green" grow.

Will to have some photos of the setup on my current journal in a few days if you are interested.

If you are into recycle /DIY, i use salvaged 12V computer fans for ventilation in my tent and spacebox. They are pretty much continuous duty capable and are shifting enough air for my plants to be happy.

Good luck! :)

Hi philthegeek . great to see you along here.

The water tank was going to be the plan for a growbox but I ended up being able to invest a few £s into a tent, lights etc when I got paid off from work due to my medical conditions.

I was struggling to figure things out so this came at the right time.

The tank is now my soil cooking and storage container and I'm thinking of making it into a earth worm composter to keep those lovely nutrients coming.

Great job on your spacebox . looks like a fun way to keep the young plants coming along.

I will pop over to your journal and check it out, always something to learn from you fine folks here.

...

Dampen a folded paper towel and put the seed between the towel. And put in a Ziploc baggie in a warm place . And check after 24 36 and 48bhrs for a taproot. I have had a taproot as fast as 18 hrs for a 1/2 inch taproot.

Got one hemp sprout showing and into the plug in under 24hrs in the paper towel.

I decided to see if the White Widow seed does anything in the paper towel too. Rescued it from the plug and into the towel yesterday so fingers crossed.

This is what I did after four miserable failures.

I wish I would've known now, what I didn't know then.
And I wish someone would've told me.
It's actually quite simple. U need to follow a few basic guidelines.
0. Buy yourself a 600 watt LED light on ebay. I got my first one for $150.00.
1.Use Fox Farms soil and nutrients. They have great customer service help.
2.Use cloth pots.
3. Buy a water meter on ebay.
4. Don't move your plants around or, stress them out in any way.
5. Find your designated grow space.
6. Separate your Veg room from your Flower room.
7. Make sure your Flower room is bigger.
8. Get some type of ventilation system. Fan, whatever. I use a bathroom fan for exhaust with ABS 90's to keep it light tight... $15.00 on ebay. ABS 90's you can get at Home Depot.
9. Invest in an A/C unit and a 30 pint dehumidifier.
10. Make sure the temperature stays between 68 and 75 degrees at all times and it is completely dark and light tight in your Flower room.
11. Don't let it get too humid in the Flower room because of bud rot and mold. I suggest 40%.
12. Make sure your girls get 13 hours of uninterrupted sleep in a dark, light tight ventilated room.
I use Black ABS 90's. as big as you can buy to create light tight vents.
Part of the reason I've had the success is, I use all Fox Farms everything.
Soil, nutrients and specially Cha Ching.
It makes it way easier than trying everything else!
I bought some cloth bags and a decent 600 W LED light for $160 bucks on eBay.
Wish I would have spent the extra money and bought the mars pro lights for $250.
I also have a five dollar water meter.
You also have to get the plants out of plastic pots, as soon as possible and into the cloth pots.
I also invested in a $120 air conditioner and a $140 dehumidifier
The reason being, is because to grow good Canabis indoors you have to keep the temperature between 68° and seventy-five 75°F as I stated earlier.
It can very a bit but, it needs to stay around there.
Also, you don't want the humidity over 45%.
That's my opinion.
I want to avoid mold and bud rot at all costs and drop it down as far as I can when the buds are about ready to harvest 25%.
I use cloth pots and I feed every other watering.
I always use my water meter because, every single plant I have ever had has been different.
One will be dry, while the other needs another day or two before watering.
You need to know.
They sell water meters on eBay.
I also have to keep track of which plant I have fed, and which plant I have only watered.
So, I bought some of those colored plant identifiers.
I throw a green one on top of the soil, when I have fed them, don't put anything in there when they've just been watered and I put a white one in there when they're on their 14 day flush.
Also, when sprouting, it has to be a warm place.
It helps the seedlings if they are in a warm place as well.
So, my grow room has one completely separate room inside the original bedroom.
I took a bedroom, built one separate room inside that and made it light tight where the flowers are blooming because, they need complete darkness.
It took me about a year to do all that. Not every day. A day at a time.
Actually, I sprout everything by the fireplace where it's really warm.
If you can't afford to build rooms you can buy cheap comforters.
I used my closet first with the comforter over it at night, and the veg room in my hall closet.
Because, one area has to have 20 hours of light a day and the other area only has to have 11 hours of light a day.
Those are the basic things you need.
They're not unobtainable.
Just have to invest few hundred dollars, a lot of hard work and A LOT OF LOVE.
I think the Goldleaf is this the best strain I have purchased from 420.
It turned out to be one of the top three I've ever smoked in my life and I'm 56 years old.
You must have good feminized seeds to begin with.
The first time I grew though, because I had the temperature up to 90 degrees, the buds came out loose and it wasn't as good.
Be prepared spent a lot of time when you're learning.
I go at least three times a day to my grow room, if not more like seven.
I have grown some really good potent buds and am getting better.
Hope I could help.

Which a.c. did you get ? I have major issues with my grow.

Used a cheap 6000 BTU window A/C unit. Wish I would have bought a portable free standing one with an exhaust hose. I will have to get one of those. The 30 pint dehumidifier was the perfect size. Not too big, not too small. Takes it from 65% to 35% in no time. I am not growing inside this Summer. Too much to keep it cool. Will use my greenhouse and see how the sun does.

Hi Cowpert, welcome to my grow ..

Thank you so much for such a great and comprehensive list, it's so appreciated.

Sorry it's taken so long to reply, life gets a bit slow for me sometimes but I catch up eventually lol.

I've got everything to see me through this grow I think, I will add equipment as I go and when can save up a few pennies.

The boiler cupboard where I sprouted my seeds looks like it's made itself into a veg area ., I will chip away at making it how I need it to get a good flow of plants going.

Let me thank you again for a great checklist Cowpert, you are another great example of passing on the knowledge to help others learn.

Ok folks, time for an update.

Finally got my White Widow seed sprouted, plug planted in her (hopefully, it's a reg seed) and made a few crucial adjustments to the tent.

I was really struggling with low temps and could barely get them up to 20 degrees, and that was only after adding a couple of hot water bottles to the tent.
It has definitely affected the growth rate but maybe some of you all out there could let me know how they are looking.

We've been getting a bit of a colder week so I bought a mini oil filled radiator with thermostat control and set it at approximately 25 degrees in the tent.
I've left the hot water bottles in there and they will gently release the ambient heat when lights go out and heater is off.

Great pics, thanks for the warning, easy to go by the pink ones. Great start my friend, I'm so excited.

If it's cold in the area, I will cut the top off a bottled water container and put it over the sprouts to help them retain heat a bit. I also make a hole at the top of the container to let in precious air. Also, I do boil water, then put it in a big bowl everyday when they are young and at night while the light is out. You have to put it right beside the pots cause your tent is so big it won't make a big difference if it's too far. That's all the little things I do. :)

Also, make sure you blow on them daily for co2. It helps when they are so young, cold, and slowing down. Your air can be warming to them.

I can't describe the feeling of hope that I have to be able to provide my own medicine.

I had completely ran out of oil, hash and street supply weed for 3 days last week.

I never ever want to go back to experiencing the full range of neurological issues I have when I don't have cannabinoids in my system.

I have no idea how I managed to get through a whole 18 months before I found cannabis again.

I truly see that my purpose in life now is to grow my medicine for myself and my family, learn as much as I can about the brain's functionality and how cannabis therapy assists neurological patients and to get that information to as many families as I can.

We can make a huge difference to quality of life for so many out there.

Let's make this knowledge as mainstream as we can folks.

Love you all .

Great guidance as always my soul sista .

I used to place my hot water bottles around the plants to keep them as snug as possible, it definitely helped but not quite getting me to that all important sweet spot.

The mini oil filled radiator only cost me £16 and took a matter of 10 mins to get things into 20 degrees plus.
It's been set to maintain between 20-25 degrees Celsius and its making a huge difference already.

I can hear my plants engines running up in the loft lol.

Hey GN. The plants look wonderdul! Sorry to hear you had to struggle through 3 whole days without meds. But how refreshing you will soon have some of your very own .

You sometimes forget how much cannabis helps until moments like last week.

There's always a dry spell on the local supply occasionally, but yeh it feels amazing knowing that shouldn't ever be a problem soon ...
