1st Indoor Grow - 9 Strains - Eek!

My Goodness - thank you ALL!!! Been busy and pretty tired here. Went to the hospital at 2:30am for oldest son's baby delivery... she ended up having a c-section this morning and we now have a new lil grandson named "Wyatt".
:slide::slide::slide::slide::slide::slide: So granny's got her sixth grandchild! Two sons with 3 children each and one son still to go. :-)

dfw - you said the seedlings look like they should look - I SOOO agree!
Sept27-Seedlings.JPG

They are growing incredibly well LIKE THEY SHOULD. I don't know why I thought I should try rockwool with these since I'd never used it before. Yesterday I identified the pre-flowers of a third white widow female (:slide:). So I'm discarding the 2 sickbay white widows that I won't be needing (I can clone better WW plants now). I looked at the root structure and it was as I suspected. The roots were just straight down and didn't go far at all past the rockwool - very scimpy. Maybe I used too big of rockwool (2")??? I don't know, but I won't ever be using it for seeds again!

I also believe I identified a second male (the biggest G13 Haze) and two more females (BOTH Thai Tanic). Thus, I think I have identified 6 girls and 2 boys so far from the unknown gender plants.:slide:

Plants are doing real good. The largest are going to be bushes by the time the smaller ones are ready in a couple weeks.

Today the largest WW female is the first to have her side growth grown out enough to tie a couple branches outward so I could open up the center growth again, keeping my canopy going. Hopefully I'll get some nice clones outta the center of this one. Here's a pic, the top and the 2 side growths I have tied down form a triangle, opening up the center.

That's is outta me today. I'm pretty tired and don't know if I'll have the "big sisters" of our new lil grandson later so I'm gonna look around here for just a little bit and then go dream of white colas... Take care all!!!

way to go granny!!!!!congrats on the new grandbaby!!

Indeed congrats on the grand kid. 6 girls to 2 boys is an awesome ratio, just pray it keeps up! Peace granny :peace:

Congrats on new grand baby Wyatt! Plants are looking great....got some super strains going ....I was looking at g13 haze and really like reviews it got and description of it....keep it green granny :cheertwo:

Congrats on your new grandson... Wyatt! Great name! The more the merrier!

TY so much to all for the grandbaby congrats! He's adorable! :-)

dfw, yes, I am praying it keeps up! My biggest hope is on the last Utopia Haze is a female - then I'm pretty sure I'll have at least one girl from each strain.

Tunes420, yes, the G13 Haze sounds like a really good strain. The biggest has now been identified as a male, so I'm hoping at least one of the other two are female. All three of the G13 Haze look real good.

All of them are smelling wonderful too. I have to be right with them to smell them, but oh... I love that wonderful aroma. I could sit there and inhale all day long!!!

Won't be long and I can go to flower. I got the 250 MH/HPS light hooked up, but still need to connect the fan for heat removal and am still working on enclosing that closet so it is light tight, yet ventilated. Don't have too much more to do to prepare it - just need alone time.

Once I have that room finished, I will be able to change to 12/12 anytime cuz then I can continue vegging anything that needs a bit more time before sending to flower and I can begin cloning soon. Gotta clone to fill up the room and have both 1000w lights being used to flower.

I kindda think I'll be having one light with plants that are finishing flowering under it, and one light with beginning flowering plants under it. Hopefully I can plan my cycles to work like this. I sure hope to get the jungle room filled up!

Back to work here. Take care everyone!!

Sorry but I just get all warm and giggly when I think of granny constructing the grow room ;) keep up the great work....

i think that goes for everyone..hell yeah!!! way to go granny..

you know how people smoke cigars when a baby is born, well i smoked like 10, all filled with weed just for wyatt. that should lucky him up.

Hey WoF!!! Thank you!!! Wish I'd been there to smoke em with ya!
And... I voted for ya and then saw yer in the lead!! Go Dude!! I was real surprised to see my name in the running (did TheWeed do that???)! I'm very honored, but I'd really rather earn this one a bit farther down the road when my grow shows I deserve it... and I'm workin' on that! :smokin:

Hey OldMedman, ya ol push push, sit down, pant pant dude! LOL Thanks for the congrats! I don't know about under control - but it's at least not out a control YET! ;)

Hey norcaliwood! Isn't that the truth!!! My prayers were for just that, a healthy baby... and they were answered. He is so tiny... and so adorable - so I was given bonus blessings!!! I had three G13 Haze seeds, all sprouted, and all three look real good. I'm pretty sure the biggest is a male and the other two have not shown me their beginning pre-flowers yet - I'm hopin' for at least one girl tho.

Gonna start a new one with updates and a few pics. Hope to see ya there!
*HUGS* to all of you!!!!!

Pretty proud of myself for what I got done this week. Still have to fine tune some small things, but progress for sure.

First, I had to vent the scrubber cuz I was starting to smell things. The scrubber was blowing the air around the room, which caused it to spread the smell instead of clearing the air. So, I investigated the world of furnace ducts at Manards and actually got all the right things to vent the scrubber upward into the ceiling attic. Hope it doesn't cause any damage because I really don't have much choice if I want to control the odor. The ventilation of the room is in much better for air turnover now. The door at the bottom of the steps has a "vacuum" type air suction thing going on now (closes easy from the suction!) with replenishing the air upstairs and the sweet smell is under control.

Next, I also got the veg room just about completed. It's not professional in any way, shape, or form - but I got it light tight and temps should only get to 83F at the absolute most, but should be lower than that most of the time. Right now, I put plants in there and am just keeping both the veg and flower rooms at 18/6 and my homemade door open. In this closet, I vented the 250w MH light fan out the top and added another vent with a fan sucking air out at the top (cuz temps were a bit too high without this). At the bottom, I put a vent with a fan sucking cool air in from the outside.

It was a heck of a lot of testing to assure temps stayed under control. The other thing I am going to do is to have these lights turn on at 12:30am in the middle of the night when it is the coolest, then when the 12/12 cycle in the flower room kicks on at 6:30am and warms the upstairs up considerably. I'll open the veg room closet door for the 12 hours they both run during the day and close it up before lights out at 6:30pm. Anyways... that's the plan!

I had to set up the veg room cuz it is getting close to time to change to flowering for some plants. I transplanted the five plants I strongly believe are female - oh and yeah... I suspect one of the Thai Tanic I thought was female is not. I'm looking at the very beginnings of the first set of pre-flowers, so I'm not absolute on any of them until I see more and larger pre-flowers.

But... I am pretty darn sure on the five I transplanted, or I wouldn't have transplanted them yet! Pictured below are the plants I am preparing to send to flower in the first group. The five females are in 5 gal buckets and the five unknown are still in their 1 gal pots.

Females transplanted include: (3) White Widow; (1) LD (the lone LD); and (1) Thai Tanic.

Unknown Sex include: (2) G13 Haze and (3) Medijuana.

Oct3-GirlsTransplantedAndGHx2_Mx3StillToSex.JPG

As you can see, the transplanted ladies are getting quite bushy. I'm still tyin' them down, including secondary shoots. I'm trying to keep them slowed so the Medijuana can get a bit larger. There are multiple (many) bud sights on all the larger plants.

Of the non-transplanted (non-sexed) plants, the two largest are the G13 Haze and the three smallest are the Medijuana. I am going to settle for less bud sights on these first three Medijuana - they have at least four (on the smallest) to six/seven (on the largest). I untied them today and will let them grow upward now. They are around 5" to 6" tall at present. I don't want to send things to flower until these are *hopefully* around 10" tall. I hope they grow a lot each day cuz the rest will not wait much longer. The rest are all being tied to keep them of uniform height which is around 6" bent over - but I know when I release them they will shoot upward quickly cuz the boys I released sure did!

And here are the suspected boys...
Oct3-TheBoysGroup.JPG

The tallest (GH3 and UH1) are around 12". The Thai Tanic is still tied, thus shorter cuz of it.

Next is a group shot with the boys included - this is everything under the light in the soon-to-be flower room (still veg currently)...

Next is a group shot of the plants in the new veg room...

There is a great mixture of stages in here. The front are the new seedlings (also pictured below). Then there is a mixture of many LST'd and a few slower growing. And the back four are the smallest Super Nova Chronic, still showing a very slow recovery. (A few better SNChronic are in the middle group).

And here is a pic of the seedlings started in soil. They are far surpassing what the first rockwool group did for me!!!
Oct3-2ndSeedlingGroup.JPG

The seedlings had just gotten a transplant to 1 gal pots and a light spray shower. All ten seeds came up and there is only one Thai Tanic that does not look good. These plants outshine many of the others - what all should have been from the beginning!!! Hope I keep em healthy!!!

That's it for me for today. I did take more pics, but figure I'm getting so many going that it's time to group as much as possible! I'll feature female individuals more as they go into flower and progress. I do have an update comparison pic for the little Super Nova Chronic (SN10) that I began LST on last week and will upload it tomorrow - that lil sucker is shooting out secondary growth like crazy.

Everyone stay cool! :ganjamon: Hope to have time to check in on a few of your grows tomorrow!!!

Inspirational grow. Keep up the great journal!

Thanks dgh420! Hope you enjoy 420magazine - I sure do! What great support there is here - plus some really great grows to drool over!

Well I've been having some bulb issues doggone it! The first 1000w MH bulb started not functioning right a few weeks ago (wouldn't light) and at that time I changed to the other 1000w MH I had available. Now the second one went too! I'm not sure why tho. Possibly the surge protector I was using couldn't handle the load, so I upgraded to a surge protector strong enough to run a huge air compressor - so it should be good.

I have very little running with this light on the upstairs electrical system. The veg closet lights and fans, the a/c/heat unit, and the MOTHER scrubber all run off a really heavy duty drop cord (can handle up to 1850w) run to a downstairs outlet (so they are on a different breaker for electrical). And the second 1000w will be running off a plugin that is a completely separate breaker from the rest of the upstairs (hubby ran a separate breaker to one plug when I had my pc business going upstairs). So I don't think I am overloading anything.

It's like the bulb tries to light and then can't and gives up. New bulb takes off just fine. I'm gonna have to go do some research on the bulbs and what could cause them to do this. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

Anyways, I had to substitute with an HPS now. Still at 18/6, but with HPS for this last week. By the time a new MH bulb would get here, I hope to be in flower. So... it is what it is.

Also, I released (from all LST) all the plants I intend to start to flower so that they could have a bit of upward growth before I change to 12/12. They vary in how filled out they are, but not too much in height at the moment due to being bent over with LST before this. Heights range from 5" to 7" at present.

I hope they take off upward this week cuz I want to send them to flower as soon as they are tall enough. I figure if they double to triple their height, I want the shortest to be at least 10" tall and hopefully the tallest will be 12" to 14".

Patience. URRG!!!! I want to flower NOW!!!! But do know to be patient this week and let them grow upward a bit will increase my end yield... so I'm waitin' NOT so patiently!!!! If I could will them to grow faster they'd be giants by now! LOL

Got the second 1000w lamp up and ready too. It's not running, but is ready (all connected and vented) now for when I need it. If I have any more bulb problems with the first 1000w lamp, I won't be in such a panic like I was yesterday when the light wouldn't come on! I was real glad the veg room lights came on (and the door was open) so it was not totally dark up there.

And I also set out one of the femonized Cheese (not huge, but the largest of the 3) and a fourth Medijuana to prepare for sexing and flowering.

That's it for updates today! Stay cool and green everyone!:rollit:

I didn't know that you were going for such small plants. If you wanted them to only grow to be 12-14 inches, I would have done 12/12 from seed. Is there a reason you want such small plants? You'll really hold back your plants max yielding potential by not letting them grow to at least 24" in height, and even still I'm sure your sativas would want to get bigger than that.
Anyways, I just don't really see them staying below 14" unless you LST the whole way through the grow.

No dfw-guy... I want them to be those heights before sending them into flower so that they will grow to be 2 to 3 feet (or more) when they finish. Sorry, I must not have made that very clear... you mean you didn't know the rest of what was in my head? :grinjoint:

Yeah, I don't want short plants. I guess that was my point even if I didn't say it very well! I measured this morning and they gained an inch yesterday, so they are now between 6" and 8". Hopefully I get to go to flower by this weekend.

Gees - the biggest have been LST'd extra long so some of the smaller could catch up. Those are going to be monsters (*hopefully*). They all have more than 10 nice top bud sights. The smaller have 4 to 6 nice top bud sights. Will be wonderful to watch!!!
