1st Indoor Grow - 9 Strains - Eek!

Todays update...

Of the 8 unsexed plants which are also preparing for flower: I have potted 3 more plants which I suspect to be female in 5 gal buckets. I am pretty sure 2 Medijuana and the last G13 Haze are female. However, what I'm basing this on is the tiniest of only 1 or 2 pre-flowers and as they grow further, it may turn out some are male... so NO happy dance until I know for sure.

The additional suspected males include 1 G13 Haze and 2 Medijuana. This leaves only 2 unsexed plants from this bunch that I still cannot tell.

So... IF I am right, the soon-to flower room has...
8 females (3 White Widow, 1 LD, 1 Thai Tanic, 2 Medijuana, 1 G13 Haze)
6 males (1 Thai Tanic, 1 Utopia Haze, 2 G13 Haze, 2 Medijuana)
2 unknown (1 Medijuana and 1 Blueberry)

And in the veg room I still have...
3 Cheese feminized (2 nicely filled out with LST - let loose to grow now)
2 Blueberry (1 good looking that is filling out with LST and 1 sad looking)
2 LD feminized (both look real good - LST just started)
7 SuperNova Chronic (4 look good, 3 still small/sad, 2 LST'd, the rest not)
1 Utopia Haze (filling out nicely w/LST, last hope for female in this strain)
4 AK-47 (LST has begun on 3)
4 Thai Tanic (3 look great, 2 LST began on, 1 looked sad from start)

3 CLONES... And 3 very small feminized Cheese clones due to an accidentally topping. They perked up within a half an hour of planting (while in a panic!). No droopiness. All look real good thus far (3 days). They are in small pots which I placed in an ice cream container and then put plastic over the top for a humidity dome. Working nicely so far. When they begin to grow upward I will know roots have set in and I will remove the plastic. Right now, just giving a bit of air occasionally.

I am going to be cloning (ON PURPOSE) this afternoon when I get home from work. The strains I will begin cloning are...

1) LD CLONES - a Cannibus Cup award winning Barney's Farm cross of Skunk #1 x Mazar
The lone LD female is SOOO STINKY and this plant is a very nicely filled out. Barney's Farm named it after an illegal drug because of it's powerful trippy effect (the name here is missing a middle letter cuz I can't use the illegal name here). It was listed as having 24% THC and I'm thinking it is going to be a very powerful smoke in the end. I have 2 feminized LD in the veg room, but since this strain has a 53 to 65 day harvest time and is so nicely filled out - I want a couple clones from this plant.

2) White Widow CLONES. White Widow has long been a favorite of many and has won many awards. THC listed as 20% to 25%. Definitely an odor from these 3 girls, but much sweeter than the LD. When I look at the images of this plant and read reviews... well, it makes my mouth water!!! The white THC crystals just cover this plant by harvest... the sweet flavor that is described (and I can smell)... the 8 to 10 week harvest time... Yep! Definitely looking forward to trying this strain and want a couple clones to continue this strain in my grow!

3) Thai Tanic CLONES. Chocolate is the hint of scent I pick up from this one. The high I remember from the Thai stick that was only available ONCE ever in our area... OH MY HIGH!!!! The flavor - very unique to this strain. I have 4 more seedlings (3 look good) of this and don't want to grow too much of it cuz it takes 9 to 12 weeks to flower. However, I will take a couple clones from this one just in case the seedlings turn out to be male and cuz I may never get this again in my lifetime (and my memories of it are outstanding).

Such a SMART man to LISTEN to yer wife!!! Yes, a good man will the ground his wife walks on!!! Probably why ya been married for 17 years!!! Have 29 years in here and love him more than I could ever express in words. But I also know a SMART wife will also LISTEN to and her man too! Marriage is a 2-way deal.

If you've been growing for 10 years with yer wife's approval - damn, you have it up on me!!! Hubby is UNwillingly allowing this grow for a limited time only. So even if ya never get to journal - you have the most important agreement from yer lady cuz she's letting you grow! But you let her know we'd sure love to see a journal and that there would be many here who could learn from someone with 10 years experience. I betcha have some tales from all those years of growing!

Hey Butcher - I think I'm going to adopt you!!! (and many others here!!!) I LOVE it that you call your granny after readin' my journal - YES!! Makes me feel real good inside to hear that. And I absolutely KNOW it pleases yer granny every time you call!!! ((((granny hugs)))) Butcher!!!

I can't decide what I'm going to do with the males. I did remove, BUT SAVED, one plant each of the 4 strains that have shown to be male.

So here's the tally on what became what for sex in this first group...

• The first of 2 Utopia Haze is male. The other is still filling out for me in the veg room.
• The only LD that survived my initial start is definitely female and very stinky. I took 6 clones of this plant yesterday.
• All 3 of the White Widow are female. The other 2 WW seedlings were so sad I axed them when these showed female. I took 6 small clones from WW2 (the biggest) yesterday.
• 1 of the 2 first Thai Tanic seeds is male, the other definitely female. I started 4 more TT seeds a month later (in veg room). I took 3 small clones of the female yesterday.
• 3 out of 5 Medijuana plants were male. I *think* the other 2 are female but I'm not positive yet.
• 2 out of 3 G13 Haze were male. The last showed me hairs today so YES!!! I have a G13 Haze female!!!!
• The only Blueberry in this first group *I think* is a female. I transplanted it, but I'm not confident in the sexing just yet. There are 2 more BB in the veg room.

Thus I have 6 confirmed females and 3 possible females going to flower TODAY. These include SIX STRAINS (YES - if all female!!!):
3 White Widow
1 Thai Tanic
1 LD
1 G13 Haze
2 Medijuana (possible females)
1 Blueberry (possible female)

And I have removed, but saved 4 males. One each of: Utopia Haze, Thai Tanic, G13 Haze, and Medijuana.

I'm pretty buzzed... and tired... so I'm going to update with a few pics and then go soak my bones in a hot bath!!! Here we go...

First, I am so happy to have a confirmed (hairy) G13 Haze GIRL

Next, the two Medijuana I *think* are possibly female. The first had some LST, but not much and was transplanted 3 days ago.

The second got NO LST at all. This is the shortest plant in the group. I want to see what a SOG of Medijuana would be for size and yield versus an LST'd plant. This second Medijuana had just been transplanted and had a light spray - why it looks droopy at the moment. It looks real good otherwise.

Next is the *possible* Blueberry female...

And then a closeup of Granny's idea of a portable support and/or ScrOG...
The purpose: to support colas and/or to be able to manipulate height growth if I want. I crisscrossed wire across the center of a wire wreath ring and then attached the wreath ring/wire to the dowel rods with zip ties...

I'm placing the first level at 11.5 inches and you can see above that WW2 is a bit taller than that. You can also see I have added a second support wreath on WW2 for her future cola growth support (wishful thinking???). I will do this on plants that grow fairly tall. I can adjust the height of the supports as needed.

I like this setup cuz my wreath rings were just the right size for the 5 gal buckets. This way every plant is still portable on it's own, yet it has support and height control available.

Get ready to have something to watch cuz the first ladies are now officially in flower! Many have a ton of colas and will now start their stretch. I hope to have a number of fair sized plants. Since they aren't crowded and they have that 1000w light... I *hope* to have some good end results!

Dangit tho... I changed lights last night and my veg room lights went off at 6:30pm. They were supposed to kick on at 12:30am and keep themselves warm during the cooler night. They didn't and it was 54F in there by 6:45 this morning. For some reason the timer just didn't kick on (I had reset it). So my veg room got more than 12 hours of darkness before I went upstairs this morning. EEK!!! So now I guess I will have them run on 6:30am to 12:30am (18 on). That way I can check that they go on in the am. Hopefully it doesn't cause too much damage.

The timer glitch wont cause any issues if it just happens this time. is this a mechano-elcetric timer or fully digital? I have found the fully digital ones to be very confusing when trying to set and has taken several attempts to get right. I just stick with the mechano-electric intermatics as they are easier to use and its all you need for a 12/12 timer.

Just a past memory that got sparked... When I was 18 I became a member of the Black Powder Club in our area cuz I took my Grampa shooting and to meetings after he couldn't drive anymore. We'd go to the shooting range and he'd load the 45 muzzle loader and make ME shoot it. We had to check the patches and wads we were using to get it all right. Eventually he bought a 50 muzzle loader and we'd both load our own guns. He kept telling me the 45 was mine and I should take it home. I kept saying, "No, Grampa. When yer gone, I'll make sure I get it. But until then, if I'm gonna shoot it, I'm gonna shoot it WITH YOU." Eventually Grampa left us and the gun became mine... but the loving memories of our time shared is the most cherished of all.
