Iconcur with Irish on this technique! I do the exact same thing! Soak it up peeps!!

Much respect irish and 420 community!!

Go-

I figure since we were on the topic of a dark time before switching to 12/12 i wanted to share my special way of flush for suburb smoke. Ive flushed all different kinds of ways but IMO this is the best ive tried. No one and i mean no one around heres weed that i have smoked comes close to the clean smooth smoke i harvest. Every time my ash turns nice and white after smoking a bowl.

now their is allot of debates on a dark period before harvest if it makes more resin/potent buds. I am not too sure on this? i have mixed feelings and think its all strain dependent. but what i do know is when the plant is in the dark period they release their nutes from the plant down the roots. if you grow hydro and check ur PPM in the dark period thats why its higher in the dark period. Also plants store their nutes in the leaves. this is all info i have read over the years many times about our plants.

so this is how i achieve my perfect smoke.

#1. i flush for about a week with clean water

#2 4 days before harvest i cut off all the fan leaves that are holding the nutes, this also helps with getting light to the lower buds and help them ripen better.

#3 I put the plants in a dark period for 36hrs before i cut them down. and make sure I pull them when its dark and no lights on.

Thats it! my smoke is very smooth tasty and clean with now black ash from leftover nutes in your smoke. just pure clean white ash. Some might disagree about this but thats fine dont knock it until you try it. trust me its always good to me. the extra stress might also help with resin.

Here are some pics of day 6 of veg. light is 27-29" from the tallest plant. temps are around 90F*

tonight i will start the LST process

The whole process take about a week or so...

About 4 days doing it every other day. it really depends on how stiff the stems are? some do this when going to 12/12. i like to do it 1-2 weeks before. On these girls ill pull it down maybe one more time and be done. then ill come back latter one a strip the bottoms off if the canopy is dense. LST and lollipoping all the way! this time i am gonna thin them out since last time the foliage was beyond thick. just to open her up for light can get down to the middle of her.

Thanks for the LST info.. I got a couple of older gentleman from a med club looking at your tread. I want to make sure they see how you LST your girls and how simple you make it.....

I'm lovin it..

+ reps for attempting to grow in 100-plus degrees -- you are a braver man than me!! :)

Only thing I can think to advise is perhaps to consider a small chiller for the drip's res -- if you can lower the temps of the water going into the medium, that will help keep the plant's roots cooler, and as I'm sure you know it's not the air temps that will fry the plants, it's dead roots at those high temps that will really be the issue, I'd think.

Good luck!

ya i make sure the water going in is the right temp. i just use frozen bottles and it works good. i try to be nice as i can to the girls for the hard time their having.

Ya, for sure, good idea about the ice, that works too, cheaper than a chiller for sure!

I think you will be OK with the silica, and the strain -- that's really a key component, a more pure line like you've choosen can take more stress, IMO, than a more hybridized line.

Copy on the frozen water bottles. I've started a nursery with CFLs in a old Sansui stereo rack (in anticipation of my 180w) and found the water bottle trick real cool (pun intended). I understand a side benefit to temp is you also get CO2 residue from the melting ice.

Great tip! :)

ya i believe strain is keep when dealing with condition's like this. and the carbs cold water fresh air and silica all help also.

its a good cheap way to keep things cool without spending money on a chiller. now if i was running Eb&flow or a different hydro setup i would use a chiller, but for my drain to waist chiller the frozen bottles do the trick.

Hey if you guys have any noise problems with your vent fans, go buy some of the insulated ducting, that shit is like a silencer for fans. i borrowed a fan from my buds until my new one came in and that thing is crazy loud, i could here it threw out the house. i bought some of that ducting from Homedepot and that shit is quite now. what a big difference.

I forgot to tell you one of the other main reasons why i chose to tie them down little by little ever other day. this way they get a chance to curve up and forums a hook to i can move the string up higher. makes it real nice and simple to tie it down and not hit your branches and leaves.

These plants always amaze me! about an hour after i bent them over all the leaves are already turned around growing towards the light. its crazy of fast they adjust to this.
