As the plant grows, you should be lifting the light rather then lowering it? I’m sorry if i miss understood your question :hmmmm:

I have them at 30 inches because they're seedlings, but the light manufacturer says they can go 18

Should I drop it to 18" or 24" at that point? I was thinking I could do it in 6 inch increments and see how they respond.

Is stretching a bad thing only in limited height spaces?
 
I lowered the lights to 24 inches today.

Knowing your lights I would drop to 18. The plants are stretching for the light. Because your in the buckets already and won’t up pot, dealing with a leggy plant will be more difficult.
If you drop your lights you should have better stacking of the nodes.
Don’t top yet. I would wait at least until you have 4 nodes. I do mine at the 5th. And I go between the 5th and 6th. I don’t cut exactly at the node but more the internode between.

I am still a new grower but this is what I have learned here and have been practicing ever since.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll wait to top them. I'm at 24" this morning and will see how they look this evening before going to 18.

Your numbers are good.
Usually it’s heat,humidity stress. If it’s humidity you will get tacoing in the center also. Overwatering will do it and if your fan is bending the leaves. I use my lower leafs as an initial indicator of what’s to come but I’m more interested in the new growth. I wouldn’t worry to much right now.

I moved them to 24" and that picture I posted was after 24 hours. I'll know more tonight.

I’m also new here. Been reading for a year. You are running the same lights I have. Get your lights down closer. You have two sets of leaves. You want the nodes to stack and not have long internodes. I put my lights (out of box)on the day I went into flower. I have been at 18 or less and haven’t had any effects.
Looking between your last 2 pics I think your girl looks better now. Are these bag seeds?

2 on the left are bag seed. The far right is supposed to be biscotti.
I'm going to lower before I go to bed, so I can check it before work.

Lol I know you want an answer right away, but sometimes it may take a while for a reply, just relax bro, take a breather it’ll be okay! :ganjamon: I’d say it does look like it’s starting to, taco, but nothing too serious atm. You definitely don’t want it to get any worse, but it still looks pretty good. Keep an eye on it. The temps are fine humidity is fine. Keep us updated!

But the excitement has the best of me. lol

Ok, I am chill....

I checked the water and all of the numbers are the same. The ppm crept up a little, but I think it's because the plants started drinking more with the increase in the light intensity.

I lowered to 18" above the tallest of the plants. I am going to check them in 8-9 hours to see how they are doing. If they look good and everything checks out, I will leave them there. If not, I will go back to 24 inches since they seem fine at that height.

I have new buckets set out to let the chlorine evaporate. I do my water changes on Sunday, so I get my water started a few days early on Wed. Hopefully that will be good practice. Plus I have them on standby in case of emergency.

Thank you again for your time. I will try to exercise more patience in the future.

Sounds like you’ve got a great system going on! You’ll eventually do it with your eyes closed lol!

Yeah, I mean if everything was groovy at 24” might as well keep that going. Did it come with manufacturer recommended heights?

My blurple led was recommended for 24 in veg then lowered to about 18 in flower. I ended up being a lot closer then 18 inches on my first run, I’ll tell you that much! Haha I ran out of room fast, underestimated the stretch haha!

I added more fire power but had to raise to 30” I might regret that, but we will see, tomorrow will be day two. I already see growth but we will see if it’s growth, or if it’s stretch.

Haha yeah, it may seem like not very many people are following right now, but keep heading over to other people’s journals and they will eventually come say hi.

I don’t normally come to the site while I’m at work, as I’m usually over my data so I have it turned off. I did one round on my notifications from now to my last post :headbanger:
