Zurple's DWC Bag Seed Grow Journal, 2019

So this morning I f'd up my water change. I put too much nutrients and the ppm was almost 1000, so I had to pour out those buckets and get new water. I will have to do my water change tomorrow instead.

I have a question about Plant 3, as she looks droopy like she's over watered. The only difference in this plant from the other 2, is it's a different strain and it appears that she doesn't get as much bubbles from her air stone than the other 2. It may be the issue, but not sure.

Also, you can look close at my FIM on plant 1 and the topping I did on 2 and 3. Plant one is low, bushy and getting crowded. I am getting zero stretch with them at the moment, but it seems some stretching could help before I defoliate?

Please take and look and give me some feedback on the pictures. Thank you.

Looks like 3rd plant isn’t happy about not having any nutrients. Looks like the feed me droop. Still looks like ppm could be raised a little. Your new leaves still do not look like they have enough.
How many nodes did you have before you topped the first time? Also are your lights still at the lowest setting? I wouldn’t defoliate yet. I would just keep feeding them and watching them grow. I think you need to get a little height before you clip again.

The lights are still 18 inches.
I had 4 nodes when I did it.
They are 25 days old, so not certain how many ppm, maybe I should shoot for 500, they're 400 range now.
I'm waiting 24 hours for the chlorine to dissolve to make new buckets for them tomorrow.

From what I can tell online that’s a 6W unit. It surely wouldn’t hurt to add another. A good rule of thumb is 1 W per gallon of water.
My goal was to run 2 plants with this pump, so it will hopefully run 1 or 2 easily once we determine the sex. I only have room for 2 in this tent.
I'll get a larger pump for them and use this air pump to aerate my back up buckets.

When you do your bucket change take some pictures of the roots. My plants are almost always reaching for the lights, until they are hungry. I believe your low on your ppm/Ec after looking at your pictures again. If these are bag seed, these are the ones to learn limits. I am growing the last of the bag seed except the fruity pebbles (I can’t find them, I hid them when I was stoned), so I am pushing the limits and learning from many mistakes but it has taught me what they want and hate. Lol.

Got my water changed this morning. The tent temp was 72 degrees and 58% humidity. The lights are at 18 inches. Roots look great, but I'm going to get a larger air pump for them. I think my stones may be getting clogged, as there are not as many bubbles as before.

Drip water on the leaves?
That happened when I was top feeding them because I put them into their buckets too early.
Haven't done it lately.
It is making it harder to determine if I'm doing everything correctly or if I have a deficiency.

Sort of makes me consider soil or cocoa on my next run.

I am looking for something else besides Fox Farms since I get so much conflicting information and it makes my water cloudy.

When I left at 6 am my water was 5.8ph, and when I got home 12 hours later it went up to 6.7ph. I guess they only took up water and no nutrients, as the ppm was up about 30 on each of them. I had to add water and some ph down. Does this seem normal? It did it the last water change as well. Wondering if I should pre-mix my buckets a day in advance?

I use PH perfect AN nutrients for now. They maintain the ph. If I was going to stay with bottle nutrients I would stay with the AN line. Also look into a ph dosing pump. Your 2 plants look great. I also think 3 is looking much better. All mediums have issues.

Normally when pH goes up drastically like that, it is a root health issue, tho not always. Things like algae and root rot will raise the pH quickly, but you said the roots looked good.
If you're thinking of switching nute brands down the line, look at gen hydro. I just switched from fox farms and have really loved it. Keeps the water clear too, well tinted, but not murky.

I was considering the AN ph perfect line, or going with the old tried and true General Hydroponics line, at least they don't have the crud in them to turn the water brown. I guess they change it to other colors though. I am still doing a lot of reading. The Fox Farms is working fine, but it seems like they would put out a better chart for those using their 3 part system at lower feeding rates.

I know it sounds whiney, but it would be nice to have a guide to just follow and slightly adjust when minor issues come up. I get that you should understand what plants want, but for someone new to growing, a generic formula would be awesome. lol

The GH line is what I am considering switching to. It's cheap and I think their feed formula is a little closer to the instructions on the bottle?

With FF, you have a different person on every forum telling you a different ratio; full strength, half, 1/4, 1/8 and etc.

Plant 1 is getting very bushy, but staying low. It's the one I fim'ed and the new growth is starting to get going. I sort of wish it would stretch a little to give me room to defoliate and maybe do some training.
