Zurple's DWC Bag Seed Grow Journal, 2019

Any comments for plant 2?
Wondering if my assessment of nute burn is correct? Should not be showing a calcium deficiency this early?
The other plants don't have these spots.

My roots are nastier today. I don't believe it's root rot, but instead staining from the nutrients. My air hose is brown also, so that's why I don't think it's root rot.

Is there a line of nutrients that doesn't turn the water shit brown?

I am willing to go with something other than the Fox Farms trio.

If it’s any consolation I’ve been following closely as I’m just a few weeks behind you. Also running a dwc. Mine is actually a RDWC. I don’t have much to add as I’m new to all of this but from what I’ve read and seen, I wouldn’t be too concerned over brown roots unless they’re slimy and smell funky.
Are you using bacteria or trying to stay sterile? I may have read earlier in your journal, I just don’t remember.

Does it smell like nutrients or something rotting? Post some pics also so we can see the issue.
I'm not familiar with your nutrients. Are you using h202 in your water?

Thank you jolly Rodger. I use hydroguard and change water weekly. Water temperature never get over 72 degrees.

New growth looks great. Looks maybe like high magnesium earlier. Keep watching the new growth, if there's no discoloration don't sweat it. If you run into a problem you can always tag someone so they are notified by using the @. @zurple
Everything looks good so far.

No smell at all. I use hydroguard as well.

I believe it was a false alarm. Everyone looks great, and the brown roots was sediment on them and the air lines. lol

Thanks for following up.

Plant 1 got fimmed this morning. The other 2 got topped. I'm running an experiment.

If it was me I think I would up my cal/mag slightly and see what the color does. Is it the picture or are they a little yellowish?
She's not yellow at all. Its plant 2, it has had some issues, but gets the exact same thing as the other 2. Plant 1 is its bag sibling. lol
