I dried a decent Deadhead Ripper sample nug properly for a few days to get a better idea on the flavor and high.
She is very close to finished. Her calyx's are fat and swollen, and have all but swallowed up the pistils completely. Trichomes are mostly milky, with a fair amount still clear and barely any amber at all. This is probably the most resinous pant I've grown overall - there are some buds that are nearly white from trichome coverage. It's
superfreakincool.
I was very pleasantly surprised by both how good it actually tasted even without a cure, and the overall flavor itself. Since this is a unique cross between my
Deadhead OG mom, and a
Jack the Ripper male I had, I really haven't known what to expect.
It has retained a lot of the
Deadhead OG diesel/chemical flavor, but the
JTR influence has added some subtle citrus/sandlewod flavor to it that really raises it up a notch, and frankly made it very appealing flavor-wise. It tasted
spot-on like "
Lucy", one of my favorite strains flavor-wise. Always leaves you wanting another hit just for the taste alone.
The high of
Deadhead Ripper is complex and intense. A creeper like the
JTR, but it was a gradual, wind-up creep unlike
JTR's "nothing, then
WHAM" creeper effect. It was very up, pleasant/happy, buzzy-bodied... And it made me feel the socks on my feet, lol. There was a nice come down that left me a little tired, but not sedated feeling. It was pretty giggly stuff - I laughed a lot! I think I might really like this cross.
Strong?!? It was like I'd taken edibles after a bit - WOW! Also, seemed to really enhance sights/sounds. Left me with "permagrin"!
Deadhead Ripper is... less than a week away I'd say. Week at the most. Another week or two on the
OG Ripper, and probably 2 more on
Jack the Ripper.
The Future:
The seedlings are all doing well. The Sweet Deep Grapefruit has a little stunting from a "helmet getting stuck" issue. I didn't pre-soak the seeds for as long as I normally do (hardly at all this time). Since I started pre-soaking them, rarely have I had issues with them removing the seed casing. Shortcuts can shoot you in the foot!
So, to recap the new seedlings, now starting second set of leaves:
Vortex, Jilly Bean, Sweet Deep Grapefruit, Pre-98 Bubba Kush, Humboldt. I'll combine a few of these with a
Pineapple Express for the next round.
Hopefully, I can get some new pics sometime again tomorrow...
