Xlr8's Quest For The Best - 2012

Ricky: Guys, just let me have one kitty to protect my weed plants!! hahahah .I actually got to meet Bubbles and Randy about two years ago at the main city center here!! :rasta:

That show is an all-time favorite of mine. I've seen every episode... my favorite is when they meet the guitarist from Rush - Alex Lifeson. There are so many good Rickyism's: "Why don't we just get two birds stoned at once?"

Randy rules, (speaking of cheeseburgers!)...

hey x have you heard about using hemp seeds to cross with reg cannabis to create high cbd strains, aparently hemp is uber rich in cbd and crossing it with high thc plants is how some of the current high cbd types have been created, hard to find viable hemp seeds i have only found one seed bank that sells them here thought you might find it interesting,
i have one airpot and a bunch of smartpots i really like em, the drawbacks with airpots are as you guys mentioned and for me the storage of them when not in use i have a small house, and i dont like trying to keep track of all the pieces if i tear them down, smartpots seem to grow the same and storage is easier cheaper too, i threw dirty ones in the washer on gentle looked new after a cycle, i think they are easier to water also, to water the air pot i finally out of frustration put it in a 5 gallon bucket and let it sit in the feed water after that i just did that every few waterings :thumb:

I have heard that actually on hemp for CBD breeding. I had no idea where you'd get the seeds but I'll definitely check out that link... Tortured Soul (long term member here) is the one who mentioned that idea to me once if I remember correctly, but I never knew where you'd get the seeds. Thanks for the link on that - I do find the idea interesting, indeed! :thumb:

I hear you on the air-pots. I take them apart, lay them flat with the connector threaded in the hole (but not connecting anymore) and a zip tie that keeps the bottom attached to it through one of the holes, so I don't lose or separate the pieces. Then i throw them in a storage tub. I should mention that I'm a very organized person when it comes to growing, especially. ;)

I do like that you can bottom-water smart pots, and would sometimes do just that if I was in a hurry or to change it up. Good point on that! Both smart and air pots work good, mostly a matter of preference I think... I wash my smart pots too - works great.

Hope you have an awesome weekend, BID!

i remember years ago when my mom had some pet budgies, she used to buy these packs of seeds from the pet shop and on the back it said contained hemp seed, now been young we thought it was going to be some nice bud, so we spent ages picking all these seeds out the bird seed and planted a few, and damn did they grow quick, but really tall lanky plants, not like the plants we want to grow, ended up out growing the wardrobe we was using, stunk the place out as well, never did get them to flower, but never really tried, didnt have the space and did not want to take the risk, not once we see how quick they grew

Great story, Don. Sounds like something my friends and I would have tried! :bravo:

Hi Xlr8, I've skimmed through your journal ...Sorry I havent followed but as you know there is so much to read in here and only so much time. I do know that I've seen you around in here for many moons. I can keep up on some journals but not all ......
Example I always check in on OMM ....such a great guy !!!!!! My heart is breaking and with tears in my eyes I really hope that Him and Jo are ok. Him and I have talked about it before and we are both Scorpios ....means he will be having his 70th B-day next month I am about 8 years behind...........Damn I hope he is ok !!! On a lighter note...............I have had the Chocolope also (still have) and it sure is a favorite around here. It knocks the crap out of my friends that aren't used to it but now that I am used to it ....it really is perfect buzz for me Peace brother .....sending good vibes to the Islands

Random Fluffiness For My Friend! :hugs:

This never fails to make me smile. I am this kid. Now, at 35 (almost) I am this kid. Star Wars is AWESOME!:cheertwo:

Hi Clayhead - I sure know what you mean about OMM and Jo. I really am worried about them, too. He is the greatest guy, and so much of what is great about him is the stuff many people don't know about - the stuff he does for people outside of public view. Heart the size of the whole internet. He is an extremely close friend to me. I'm tempted to fly to Hawaii, but I'm afraid that he'd just have one more thing to worry about in me coming, and I just worry that he's burning the candle at both ends worrying about too much at the moment as it is. I'd do it in a heartbeat if he needed it or asked, truly.

Chocolope is wonderful stuff, huh? It's still my favorite, though Lucy and Super Lemon Haze are close seconds. I wish we could share a bowl of it while we worry over our friend. I'm pretty damned concerned, truthfully.

Thank you for subbing to my journal Clayhead, but thanks especially for your mutual concern for our friend OMM. I will join you in sending positive vibes to the islands... :thumb:

im not so organized i have to prioritize my energy i run out so fast these days, i just dunk the smaller smart pots in the nute bucket the 1 and 2 gallon size
omm is so beloved here and with good reason im joining in positive vibe sending

I like those one and two gallon Smartpots, too. I know what you mean about energy, that's why I went more with hydro moms - so I didn't have to do as much hand watering. Still, I seem to like keeping a couple to hand water for some reason... :)

Drive bye. What Pop's down? I best go drive thru his thread also. Hey Jack is looking great. Alot of long ass trichomes showing on the sugar leaves. I hear lots good about that strain. They used it in alot of breeding prodjects. Alot of which are suppose to be top shelf product. Like them air pots? I seen some other smaller pots like 1 gallon size called root makers. Man they sure look like a good veg pot that will help increase the roots for a great start. Now smart pots,, to me thems the shit. Even the knock off I found here for pretty cheap. These are like denim material I think they might clean up easier than smarts do. I love the 2 gallon size for as I term it flip overs. Hey if I'm looking forward to hearing about how good this herb is sooo gl and Keepem Green

I like the additional insight into your personality, Fluffster. I am big Star Wars fan, too. :thumb:

I have air-pots and smart pots, i like them both. I prefer air-pots, but Smart pots are a little easier to use overall. This Jack the Ripper is the mom from a clone I flowered 2 grows ago. I like it a lot, but I used Jack the Ripper in some crosses of my own, too, (2 of them sharing the tent with the JTR) and I decided to focus on the crosses and some new strains for a little variety. I just provide for me, so I'll be stocked up on JTR and these crosses with JTR for a while. I am excited about the next round... Some indica hybrids I think - I've had lots of hazes and sativa dominant plants last few grows - will be fun to add a couple indica dominant strains to the mix. :yummy:

Yeah, I'm worried anout our buddy OMM. Jo is having some health issues too - sure wish they weren't having to go through all this right now... Ya know?

Never heard of it. Guess that's another I'll have to boob-toob.

Jandre - hope you are feeling better and that the migraines have let up. I get them every once in a while, and they are really terrible to live with, sure wishing you the best buddy... :thumb:

Here's what I'm thinking for the next round (still another month or two away):

  • Pineapple Express (G13 Labs)
  • Jilly Bean (TGA Subcool)
  • Pre-98 Bubba Kush (Cali Connection)

Then, either: Exodus Cheese, CH9 Humboldt, TGA Subcool's Vortex, Dinafem Sweet Deep Grapefruit, LA Confidential, or... ?

Still can't decide on that last one, so I'm open to suggestions...

I got me a G13 Pineapple Express for my next grow Xlr8, I'm rather excited. I hope to be able to squish a Lucy and PE into the space. The name for Lucy is rather obvious, but someone has already bagged the name for the PE!

I had a good look at the Sweet Deep Grapefruit myself, looks rather awesome

I like you more and more each day my friend!

Just don't tell me you actually like the modern rubbish they tried to pass off as Star Wars or we might fall out

I never had girlie toys, I had all the Star Wars figures, Millenium Falcon, AT AT Walker, Transporter etc etc. That and lego. When I win the lottery my little out house where I do my growing is going to have a lego and Star Wars section! :)

Ooh! Ooh! Over here Xlr8! :ciao:

Mr Fluffy absolutely loves you calling me Fluffster, he has even added it to my list of fluffy names to use himself! :thumb:

Hey Fluffster!

Lucy is one of my favorites and one I might consider growing this next round again, too. I didn't put it on the list, but I am also considering it pretty seriously. I loved the last one I grew. But... there's just something I enjoy about the new and unexpected. The surprise is part of what I enjoy so much about growing. Sweet Deep Grapefruit does sound damned nice, huh? :yummy:

Nah, the originals are what I like. My favorite is Empire Strikes Back. I never had the figures, but anything cylindrical became a light saber! :)
