Xlr8's Psychedelic Bloom Party Extravaganza

re: Xlr8's Psychedelic Bloom Party Extravaganza

I love this stage of rapid growth, when the new leaf is a lighter color inside. The vigorous growth-rate can stay in effect through early flowering, and bulge the sides of your tent.

One of my favorite stages is that one right between "Hurry up and grow" and "Whoah, Nelly - slow down a bit!". ;)

Haha mate.

I didnt think u were saying i was doing anything wrong at all mate. I just started replying and fingers went on one on the keypad! lol I respect what u have to say as u clearly have some knowledge. Not dissing anyone on site but it bugs me sometimes when new growers tell me im wrong or do this and that. I guess i must of worded my reply in a defensive manner, it wasnt intended.

Ur def right about having the system dialled in. I do have the systems dialled in, but mechanical failures have been plaguing me of late. However to be fair thats not even the issue for me. The problem i have is that for a large part of my grows i have someone there tending to them for the time i cant be there. now i used to assume everyone thought like me and had the same understanding...........WRONGGGGGGG! lol. what i now understand is that alot of people dont know shit and they mess my shit up, alll be it unintentionally but how difficult is it if i say do not touch, and inform me if anything looks different, or ph to 5.8 and they ph to 5.2 instead? hmmmmmm in just need couple hectares of land and a massive industrial unit and i'll be able to go to work everyday and supervise whats going on instead of taking trips aroundthe county and surrounding areas to keep things running. the travelling is so time consuming. Be great if i could just focus on the actual growing 24/7, but real life means thats impossible. Anyway im off on one again so i'll shut it. peace.

Oh looking great as usual marra.

:thankyou:

I think I know what you mean. Sometimes I wish my wife would help once in a while with PH adjusting, etc..... sorta. I know that I'm much more meticulous, and it would cause tension when something wasn't up to par. Probably best for us both that I own it all the way, haha. I'm just blessed to have someone so supportive in my life. I wish I had the energy, space and time to do something more, but it's not in the cards right now. :)

re: Xlr8's Psychedelic Bloom Party Extravaganza

albiet the couple that are lagging you should still give em a chance they may surprise you
also
your girls with a possible boy ouch well maybe youd like the pollen to make more crosses? is looking good as usual
:thumb:

You're right Chronic, I'm not panicking yet - and thanks! :) I'm probably not going to keep any males for pollen this time, but I suppose that could change. I would like to do that again, just not sure yet if I want to use the Vortex or Jilly Bean for male pollen.

re: Xlr8's Psychedelic Bloom Party Extravaganza

Hey X I just found your journal, your plants look great! I'm a big fan of TGA and Sub as well. So far I've only had the chance to grow out Pandora's Box. Ahhh, sooo many strains so little time... I'll be chillin for the remainder of this one if u don't mind...

Hi NEPharmer - :welcome: Really glad to have you along.

What did you think of Pandora's Box? I have some PB seeds for a future grow, and I've not read up on it much yet. Is it a bit lemony like Jack the Ripper?

re: Xlr8's Psychedelic Bloom Party Extravaganza

hey X, I need some of your expertise again bro:helpsmilie: for the last 3-4 days the ph has been dropping 5-8 points overnight.the plants look fine ive been staying on top of it but I cant seem to come up with a solution.I upgraded to a 40 gallon res hoping this would help because the plants are drinking 5 gallons a day(im sure some of this is evaporation).I think this rapid decrease in water daily is causing the nutes to concentrate and this is causing the ph to drop fast.are the plants to big for this system? 40 gallons for 10 plants should be enough?

Just replied in your journal, Jon. I think you're right, the plants are drinking more water than they are consuming nutrients, leaving a more acidic nutrient mix. I would think your reservoir is big enough, though a larger one might be a bit easier to manage based on what you're experiencing. Heat, low RH and nutrient mix being too hot (or combo of all of it) are some things that could contribute to this. You could also connect a water source to your nutrient reservoir via a float valve to help with automatic top-offs (I can do this via my RO system, but I haven't needed too). Your plants look great though, so I'm sure things will work out fine.

I left you a few more thoughts in your journal as to why that may be and what things I'd look into personally.

Hope you get it figured out! :goodluck:

Jilly/Jimmy looks very nice, actually they all look great Xlr8. :bravo:

Thanks, HMG! You set a high bar brother, but I'll try to hang best I can. :)

re: Xlr8's Psychedelic Bloom Party Extravaganza

thanks X,its not the temps or rh they are perfect at 85 degrees and 40% so I think its just that they are drinking to much.im going to lower the ppm;s from 1400 to 11-1200 and see what happens:)

Hi Jon - 85f is fine, but it's warm enough to make them pretty thirsty. It's a good temp with co2, but just a little high without co2, in my opinion. Regardless, I can see them drinking more water with temps of 85f. I try to stay 75-80f, and I only do passive co2 (Exhale co2 bag).

Are your ppm's 1400 with a .5 conversion meter? In other words, 2.8 EC? The real strength of PPM's (EC) depends on the meter, so 1400 on my meter is considerably weaker than 1400 on some meters, for example. If you are using a .5 meter, then I think that adjusting down is probably good. If you are using a .7 meter, then 1400 should be fine I'd think. I worry about what it gets to for you when so much water is taken up by the plants...

Just spitballin' hoping something helps or triggers a thought for you. :)

re: Xlr8's Psychedelic Bloom Party Extravaganza

your forgeting I grow with led's bro. ambient temp is the same as canopy temp.from the limited info I have been able to find 85 and 40 is exactly where you want it for flowering with led's. temps and rh are the 1 thing I have complete control over because the room is sealed. the a/c and 2 dehumidifiers keep things wherever I want them:) so far this is all ive been able to find for led growing guides.

I use oakton ppm and ph meters but I have no idea if its.5 or.7.im gonna find out though:) thanks again bro!

re: Xlr8's Psychedelic Bloom Party Extravaganza

x.. on meters? i have a 18.99 sleezbay cheapo i got 2 ys ago i am always expecting it to fail me and ruin something, and every so often i check it with some ph testing solutions i have and every time its dead on accurate for both high and low solutions, am i just incredibly lucky? i see members have hell fits with meters failing and losing calibration, but i have not calibrated mine even once!

Ohhh, I did forget the LED's. Sorry 'bout that!!

Really your issue seems to be excessive transpiration. The reason stated for the heat being 85f with LED's is to ensure enough transpiration for vigorous growth. To me, it seems there is no doubt you are getting enough transpiration given what's going on with your reservoir. Perhaps... consider lowering the temp just a little to 80-82f, as you're a long ways from not getting enough transpiration, ya know? Again, just spitballin', you need to make the ultimate decision and you're much closer to it. If they look good and you're able to manage it, maybe it's just a phase that'll require a little more work for a stretch.

Have you verified the claim in the video with your own plants - that the temp at the canopy is the same as the ambient temp? I know they run cooler (LEDs), but circulation and other factors can come into play as well.

Oakton should be factory at .7, but many are adjustable to anything you want, essentially. As an aside... I have an Oakton TDS pen that was factory set to .7. I got used to it, and then got frustrated that I was often speaking a different language than other people who more often than not use .5 meters... so I changed it to .5. Then, I started confusing myself completely because I was used to the .7 -- so I went back to .7, lol.

Where it's important, is that 1400 on a .5 meter is the same as about 1960 on a .7 meter. Big difference!

You are really really lucky! And it's a PH meter?! TDS meters can last and stay calibrated for a while sometimes, but PH meters usually have a 1-2 year lifespan (if you're lucky) and can require frequent calibration at times. My Oakton didn't need calibrating as frequently as my new HM, but my HM seems to be really accurate and nice if you calibrate it once weekly.

re: Xlr8's Psychedelic Bloom Party Extravaganza

definetly lucky BID:) on my third meter this year.

Ouch! I hate how unreliable PH meters can be and their damned short lifespan. I actually budget for a new one once a year (yes, I keep a grow budget!).
