Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures & Photos From The Garden - 2012

ROFL! I have no idea, I'm just glad to be in a place to actually compete with someone I see as a heavyweight in the nug/plant category.

Hey there Jandre - I have much respect for you in terms of growing skills, DIY, and hydro knowledge, but also in terms of the type of person you are (first class). That's a really pretty nug you have in NOTM - I'd love me some jars with that in it! :yummy:

ROFL! I didn't know botanicare sold these!! I pieced mine together from singles at my hydro store! Look at the brand, lol!

(click pics to enlarge)

Haha, that's them! Pretty handy fittings and easy to use. I like those trays you have - are there lids for those?

Yeah, I tried that, but got

Thanks for the recent rep... and the additional attempt! :thankyou:

I can vouch for this Xlr8s. I copied the recipe before I even joined the forum so thank you.

:thanks: Fluffy Haze! That's awesome, and I appreciate you sharing that. :)

I owe you an apology, Fluffy. I repped you yesterday for your comments in another thread, and referred to you as "brother". Clearly, "sister" would have been the correct salutation, but I didn't know you enough yet to realize that. :sorry:

Thank you also for the reps/kind words regarding my Nug of the Month entry. Hope to see you around more! :)

Lol no problem... there aren't so many of us girlies about doing this so mistake understandable!

Will be watching the competition...and may your grows go from strength to strength!

You could have not described it better xlr8, thank you very much for this !! Very nice and clever idea, I haven seen something similar, during "my journey" in all those months !!!!-
The fact is I didnt know I could fill and then drain(with gravity), through the same pump, I thought a pump is able to pass the water/nutes only, from one side to another and not vice-versa !! That's why it didn't make sense to me .-
Allready did my research in the hydro store and found some ecoplus fittings, they are almost the same.
Btw, what is the size of those ? Something like 3/4 inch, maybe ?

Thank you again my friend !
Your post have been copied and paisted , as always ... lol

Edit: This type of "airstone", is just a little tube with drilled holes in it ?
Edit2: I tried to rep you man, it says I need to "spread arround", what it means that ?

Glad it helped! I never knew that about draining back through the pump either, so I wanted to explain it but feared it would still be confusing. Cool to know that you were able to follow it okay (I often ramble!).

The fittings as I used them were 3/4 inch. But, not sure if that's what te kit contained anymore. In addition to the kits, I bought a bunch of additional pieces individually, in different sizes. They have 1/2" and 3/4" fittings, and I used 3/4". But, not sure which size was in the kits anymore.

Your first edit question: They are something I purchased at the hydroponic store, but they are bendable/shapeable tubes with lots of little holes. I've seen them at aquarium supply stores, too. Any decent air stone would probably be fine, but I do like these as I can customize their positioning really well to get max bubbles under the netpots.

On your second edit question: You must have given me rep points recently (thank you!), and need to give some to several other people before you can give me more. It's a method to used to keep 2 friends, for example, from jacking up each-others reputations artificially. I am glad if it was helpful!

Quick pics of the gals in the Flo N Gro, veg phase now starting to pick up steam. I also have the Jack he Ripper mom in there I plan on flowering, as well as a Super Lemon Haze mom squeezed in temporarily (they are both in airports with straight coco coir for medium).

Those trays are actually 2/$18 bus tubs form a big box store (Vdp'v ABC +3). I actually picked these for the recesses in the bottom, because they hold 1/8" water in those channels, just in case of a power outage, and so the larger plants have something to sip on between fills.

About the rep, you deserve it, bro, I just wish we could rep as many times as we want. I understand about spamming rep, but do I really need to hand out rep like candy to others just so I can get back to those that have earned it? I know there are lots of people that deserve it, and I rep where it's deserved, but for some reason, I get that message a lot.

Ummm.. maybe it's the light, or just fresh eyes, but those are starting to look a little pekish. Do you have those in transition nutes already? Or did you just recently bump to next on the nute schedule?

Good eye, Jandre, I see what you mean in the pics.

They actually look really great in person, for some reason the pics leave them looking a little lighter green/yellowish when I upload them. The color and health look really good in person (heck even in the pics before I upload them!). There is some ugly older growth left I need to remove from when they were cloned... But, they're not starved or underfed. They are also starting to really fill out the pots with nice white roots (Yeah!).

I am having an issue with really low RH right now, but I don't think that's affecting them too much

I sincerely appreciate that you gave them a good look and the feedback. I'm glad you're looking over my shoulder a bit and paying attention. :thanks:

Hey Xlr8! I hope that you might have a chance to check out my setup and grow. I have a link in my sig its my first time growing so to have some educated eyes keeping watch would be an honor. Yours are looking fantastic I might add! Hope you are well.

Hehehe, isn't that what we're here to do? Keep an eye out for each other? I'd feel so bad if I saw it, didn't say anything, and it got worse, and maybe cost you a plant. We're in this together, all of us, for good, and for bad.

I'm very glad that they are not what I saw. I am relieved, that it's just web RGB.

Thanks, seems to be. They are in a nice little zone right now - man they really took off. The growth the last few days has been insane - you'd think I was day 15 bloom the way they're growing suddenly. Nice contrast to the bug battle at this stage the last round.

So, I topped them all, mostly UBT style, today. Interestingly, they're almost all displaying prominent pre-flowers now, too. I think one of the Deadhead Rippers might end up having great taste/smell. Im getting subtle hints of similarity to the Lucy plant, which was fantastic in flavor/smell dept. the PE is starting to smell interesting, too, like sweet and spicy fruit - maybe a bit like Pineapple. I see the JTR genetics in the Deadhead Rippers so far, but mostly OG on the OG ripper. A bit early to say though.

Can't wait to kick 'em into bloom! :yahoo:

Just wanted to throw out, if you can, use a smaller diameter for the flood/drain than for the overflow so if you do have "super flow" the larger diameter keeps you from flooding a *little* more.

Oh, MAN! This is going to be an exciting one... I can't wait. But I guess I have to, huh?

Well, I didn't want people looking for their website to end up here, so I had to code it, I guess. but yeah.... :blalol:

Hey X, I wanted to thank you for the page 1 UBT lesson. I've incorporated it as the first training my girls get. A UBT shortly after rooting, then I train the 4 out in an....hehe....X pattern to help fill their allotted screen space. With UBT, LST and GLR they are showing a phenomenal number of 'tops'. It's working well so far in veg, but none of the girls that have the 'new' train regime have not gone to flower yet. 6 more weeks for the first batch of those.

I love ye ol UBT!!!
I do it multiple times now while the plants are in veg. I'm really jazzed to try it in my new grow rooms as I will have tomato cages to tie all those tops to as they grow out. Should be interesting so see how it all works out.
