Xlr8's "Flo N Gro" Hydro Multiple Strains 2011

Grow Update - 7 days from germination:

So far, all seedlings look good, except the Lucy's which were the quickest to take off and look healthy initially (they are the 2 on the top left). My gut tells me they are a little more aggressive with their feeding needs. I'm giving all the seedlings a VERY mild nutrient dosage, but I'm going to up it slightly tonight. I'm hoping the Lucy's like that a little more. I'm nervous, but seedlings can be a bit nerve-wracking first week or two, so I'm not too worried yet.

I DID have a scare - I accidentally un "snapped" the tote lid not carefully enough and I sent a couple of seedlings flying out of their net cups, etc. Argh! I put it all back in order, but stuff like that makes me nervous. Fortunately, the ones most affected are amongst the healthier looking today, so it's probably not an issue.

Heya GG7 -

I've not had a Sativa in years (other than hybrids that were heavier in Indica). I'm guessing ultimately I'll prefer Indica for pain mgmt., but I want to see what a Sativa does for me. If nothing else, I think I'll do what you suggest -- putting a little of both in the vaporizer... I actually mix indica strains together once in a while now -- I ground up 4 different indicas recently and mixed them - forgot my name for a while. ;)

LOL! I know that feeling! ;)

Sativas tend to make feel anxious and physically uncomfortable. Too little CBDs is my guess. But they can perk you up too with just the right mix! :)

Hi Ozric! :welcome:

Hang as long as you like - glad to have you hear my friend! :high-five:

Thank you for the kind words my friend :thumb:

Well, for the longest time that's what I was thinking too, Quix. But now I'm thinking I really want to harvest a female Sativa in next harvest, and I'm thinking one of the fem seeds gives me the better opportunity. I can't wait to play with those Jack the Ripper seeds though - TGA Subcool is supposed to have some really great genetics, and they sure look it. Good suggestion! :thumb:

FINE.....[insert pouty smiley here].

Have to agree with K., and I was just about tell you what a great job you're doing with this journal already. I can tell you're on your way to setting the bar a little higher for journaling here at:420:
Common theme with XLR8 isn't it guys? Setting the bar seems to be your hobby along with growing fine cannabis! Keep it up friend!!:high-five:

They're still pretty small to be feeding them. If you are set on giving them nutes, make them very weak.

I just put them on a REALLY weak nutrient solution (They're in RO water, so not much to feed them. Was thinking of bumping up a tad, but not sure. I'm concerned by how the cotyledons look like they're almost being "used up" by the new growth on the Lucys - but I might not be reading it right. I'm going to think it over some more - I have some other thoughts I'm going to ponder, too.

Thanks for weighing in with that Steve! :thumb:

That's incredibly nice of you to say. :thanks: sincerely! :)

seedlings look n good xl.

Thanks Social - Some look perfect, some not quite as good. (shrugs). We'll see how they end up! They're all exhibiting pretty healthy new growth. Seedlings are such a crapshoot as far as early vigor.

I'm more of an Indica kind of guy since they work best for my pain management, but I have thought about raising a nice Sativa strain and then, "BLENDING" the ground bud together with one of my Indicas to create a nicely balanced vape blend with both strains in the vaporizer chamber at the same time.

I used to blend pipe tobaccos years ago, and I have recently been thinking about trying to do the same with ground up bud! :)

Really looking forward to following this one 8! :thumb:

Blending is a blast my friend! I regularly take the old crumbs of strains I know I wont see for a while, and save them in a special jar. Its funny, I can still remember each little peice and its name. I love to blend a good indica with a mild sativa. I have a small jar of grindings right now that includes NL, SpaceBomb,Purple Sour Diesel, Jilly Bean, Sour Diesel, and honestly, a couple others I dont remember at this point. I think Ill add some grape ape from my brother's back yard in cali and have a vape tonight. Thanks for the inspiration!!:thumb:

I think the 'don't feed the seedlings' bit is more left-over mythology from dirt grows. Why not feed them now, as you will every other inch of their lives?

I agree with that Propa - The rapid rooters have some micronutrients and can give the seedlings a little bump, but with RO water and nothing else, they can starve. In soil, why feed at all for first couple of weeks at least?

I blend all the time! We call it a "salad bowl" since it's like a salad with a little of everything! :)

Haha - we call it a "Party Mix". When we combine 2 of our more energetic strains (Magic Bud and Missy - now Big Bang, too) we call it a "Disco Mix". :)

Sounds like a good smoke cocktail to me!. :cheer:

Gotta check out this grow, Flo N Gro!

Heya Twelve12 -

Right now they are in a bubble tub until they get more root development, and then I'm going to put them into the "Flo N Gro" -- should be interesting, I hope in a good way!

Glad to have you here my friend! :high-five:

Chocolope? Mmmmmm sounds good. Good thing youre starting that seed late, that sativa will most likely even out by the middle of flowering with those indicas. And such a variety... Like pickin in a bag of jelly beans.

My general plan MB - just as you stated it. Thanks Magic B -- I love the new seeds I got, too. I'm excited to try to mix some Sativas in somehow, too for fun -- I just like trying different things. :)
