Oh and btw... After I added nutes to my aero, I noticed it had a slight slime feeling??? Is that normal? OR should I completely change out the water and go again. PH is at 5.5.
Do you add nutes once per week, after a flush and change of water? DO TELL, or send me to the right thread
Hi Greenie!
Well, I have never grown aero style, but I personally change out my nutrients weekly almost always. I usually wipe down and clean buckets/reservoirs and everything else I can, when I can, during this process. Sometimes, the nutrients leave behind a bit of a slimy feeling - often actually.
If I'm concerned, I rinse out the buckets in hot water or even clean with a very mild bleach solution, rinsing and drying thoroughly afterwards. This is rare that I do this part. I should tell you that I'm a sanitary/clean freak when it comes to growing. I do more than needed probably, but I see so many problems others have that I've been fortunate to avoid for the most part. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, especially in growing your own meds. Pardon any puns there!!!
Your PH looks perfect. It may depend on the nutrients too, as far as leaving a slimy feeling. If it didn't start until after you added nutes, it may just be normal for those nutrients. What kind of nutrients are you using?
Also, do you have a journal? Pictures can also be helpful for people in diagnosing problems along the way, and there are a lot of helpful people here. If you feel like your equipment was clean/sanitary to begin with, and the feeling came after adding (I'm assuming fresh) nutrients, you're probably okay.
Watch for strange PH drops. If your PH starts dropping a lot day to day, you may have a problem with a fungus or Pythium. A healthy system usually will see a slight rise in PH over the course of a week, for example (this can change mid to late flower but I don't think you're there yet). If the PH is dropping a bunch you may have an issue.
Like many things, there are other factors so don't rush to conclusions right away, lean on the community here and people you feel are experienced or you can trust to help guide you to a course of action.
You can also post pictures here if you don't want to start a journal of your own - I don't mind at all. I'm lucky enough to have some great growers follow my journal, so there are people here who can and are willing to help I'm sure.
and feel free to ask any other questions along the way!
