Xlr8's "Flo N Gro" Hydro Multiple Strains 2011

man i love how this grow is coming along!!!

I was thinking that bending the tallest tops to keep the canopy a little more even. Probably the Lavender that is the tallest though.

I agree, last night I went ahead and did some bending and rearranging to even things up a bit. It's been tough for me to work with them recently, but last night I sucked it up a bit... It's tough as it's pretty tight in there now/still. But, I think it improved some - I'll post a pic in a bit. Good advice! :thumb:

Looking very, very good XLR8

I am totally stoked that these journals are proving the quality of my products. Thank you for the great grow so far and I know that it will only get better.

Also, I read a few days ago that the Root Conditioner I sent you seems to be doing the trick. So you are using double the dose? That is good info for me. Could you PM me with the exact dosage schedule you are using with that product?

Hi BPN -

I just tried to send you a PM, but it looks like there is an issue with your account or a PM setting?

Love how your plants are flowering. Jungle fever! Think you'll be getting like 10 pounds after all is done.

:thanks: Twelve!

Nowhere near 10lbs., haha, but hopefully enough to cover my own needs! :high-five:

Pics look much better. I love Lucy , great high, great yield, no splainin necessary .

:thanks: S2J!

Luuuuuuuuuucy, you have some 'splainin to do!

Awwwwww, Rickkkyyyyyy. Waaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!

;)

Pictures from Oct 16 -- Day 23 Bloom:

Moved, manipulated, strung up and bent some tops around. Still not ideal, but the canopy in general is much more even now. Not sure if that comes through in the pics or not, but in person it's definitely better.

My camera battery was dead this morning, but the tops were already bent back toward the light. the bulk of the canopy is about 12-14" from the bulbs.

Recently, I looked up the OLH (optimum lamp height) for 400w HPS, and it seems that 12" is ideal if you can keep the heat in check, which I've been able to do. Prior to tweaking things tonight I had a few as close as 8-10" with no ill effects (yet), but it feels good to have made these adjustments...

In the pics, the obviously taller tops belong to the Lavender, which just seems to have an endless stretch period. it was one of the smallest plants when I switched to 12/12, but a "notorious stretcher" from what I hear. I should say so - she just keeps growing and growing... She has more than tripled her veg size. She's also hard to manipulate as her branches are thick - even up high. I really hope she stops moving vertically!

The Skywalker already looks like it's been sprinkled with sugar. Super frosty!

Pic from last night right after bending stuff around:

Looking great XL keep it up bro dont you just love that stretch NOT lol nice work on bending them

Hey Crower - Yeah, there's always at least one plant, it seems, that doesn't know when to stop. ;) I'd read to expect this with the Lavender, but it seemed to lag behind for the early part of stretch, so I thought maybe I'd luck out. Nope! She's tall and beefy, but was so small compared to the Skywalker and Lucy PRIOR to flowering. Keeps things interesting! :)

You went for it! Good for you, it looks great in there. Don't be surprised if you have to keep pushing them down for a few days or just tie them if the start to bounce back up. Sweet.:cheer:

Hi 4twenty4all -

First love the new avatar - I remember someone suggesting that pic as a good avatar (forget who) - they were right on. Very cool! :thumb:

Yeah, I'd done a bunch of bending moving a week or so ago, too, but didn't keep up with it like I wanted to. You're right, it's the kind of thing that needs daily tweaking if done right.

I did manage to make more improvements tonight, and elevated the Chocolope so she gets more light. Physical challenges have made everything more difficult lately, but it sure feels good to have made a few improvements yesterday and today.

These buds are fattening up at a CRAZY fast rate right now. :) :)

I found that green garden wire is a great tool to use for putting the girls in bondage. Some of my p-chunks stretched a lot more than the other plants and I ended up wrapping some wire around them and then laying them flat like a grape vine. Those branches are producing some serious buds too.

Thank OG13 for the avatar change, I think its great too. Keep up the good work keeping them in line ;-)

Hey Steve -

I always forget to get that stuff when I'm at the garden store. Doh! But, I recycle those twisty ties constantly from kids toys, etc., and they're all over in there. I probably have 25 of them in use right now in there! But, I'm out, and wishing I'd just have bought some of it at the garden store.

I have a couple of branches that are running horizontally across the canopy now, and even bend down before the top comes back up, and you're right - there's an awful lot of bud development going on along that horizontal area.

Bob and weave, weave and bob..hi Bob nice Weave? I read a thread that says you can put the lights as close to the plants as possible, use the back of your hand to feel the heat..when it burns it's too close.

What distance should my light be from my plants?

Great link Sisco - that's actually one of the sources I used to update my canopy height goal to 12". The back of the hand test is definitely a good one for heat, but I've had light bleaching in the Mothership when things got too close to the glass/bulb.

By the way - love the video you posted on OMM's page! :headbanger:

EDIT: +rep for taking the time to share the link on light height. :thumb:

Grow Update October 18th - Day 26 Bloom:

I keep tweaking the ties in my ongoing bondage battle in there. ;) The main tops hovers pretty consistent at around 12-14" from the lamps. There is a nice second level that's filling in better and better as I keep pulling the main tops down. I'm feeling a bit better last few days, and it's helped me to get in and fiddle a bit more. Chocolope is finally up with the rest of the canopy and getting better light. :)
