Woodsman's Northern Light #5 Grow

It is common for these Northern Lights to take 8-9 weeks as oppose to the seed folks claims of 7 weeks. They do use super optimum conditions that are the same for every plant, like a production company in many ways, hmm, or like McDonalds cows lol

:peacetwo:

:rofl: or like KFC chickens eh? funny funny.

I mostly agree with you bro. Every time I've done NL strains they all seemed to be about 8 1/2 wks. In hydro with the right amino acids and carbohydrates they seem to speed up about a week, but not if your just adding that at the end. Silica blast or Pro-Tekt are good products.

...I noticed someone mentioned Silicon?
It would be a micro nutrient or trace element for your plants increasing cellular division and water retention. extra amount will increase drought resistance, thicken cell walls (helping to detur small pests like spidermites and thrips) and adding weight to your harvest.

Woodsman HI! your plants seem to be moving and grooving. The girls look like they're starting to canabalize lower leaves looking for those last little bits of nutes to make it to the finishline!! no worries. Kepp up the good work, and don't forget to breathe!!!

Dude they look great for smaller plants. Not sure what your grow space is, but these are sharp plants. Leaves doing as they should. Any idea on recommend time? They seem to have abit of Indo in them hense faster flowering. Hope the smoke screams....

Thanks Wood, my tent has a floor space of about 1.5' X 3' and about 3.5' from the floor to the bottom of the lights.

The seed Co. says 7-10 weeks! Hows that for being specific! LOL. But I can believe it as all three of the plants I've got from them are a different phenom (smell different, look different and are on different schedules)!

Woodsman, norcaliwood is right:grinjoint:

To me she is just beginning to eat herself. A week maybe two weeks or longer,
but go by the trichs. Depending on the high you want, at about 30 to 40% amber flush her good, put her in the dark at least 24 hours (some say longer) and then let her dry out for a few days and chop.

Side note: If you are wondering about why I did not do that with Bubblelicious.
Today was the first time I actually checked her trichs and they were dark amber, so she had probably been ready for a while. It was do it now time. As for the chemical taste, I will never notice because most of my taste buds are gone. Actually it was my bad for not taking her seriously. :smokin2::smokin2:

I've grown bagseed that went till it was about dead and was a** kicking sh*t!

Good advice about keeping track of the trichomes, cause she almost looks ready to pull now (Fatleaf). Her trichome color tells me different though so I'll just wait it out.

Your taste buds are gone? You'd like some of my wifes cooking when she makes (or attempts to) some of her Filipino dishes! In the Philippines her family always had a 'girl from the provinces' doing the menial stuff like cooking and cleaning! What a wake up call for her when she married me! LOL!

:peacetwo:

Ya, like you said 'optimum conditions' like a 1000w system. And the best nutes.
I'll just keep an eye in the cheap microscope and pick when ready. Thanks 3lions!

Evry day better

You bet my friend! It won't be long now. For you too! Time will fly fast for your girls also over in the Italian wilderness!

:rofl: or like KFC chickens eh? funny funny.

Thanks for reaffirming the 'eating of the leaves' path. I guess they are. 7 weeks just seemed to creep up so fast! I'll be at a total grow period of 3 months in just 8 days! I'm breathing now! :rasta:

OK so following Roseman's suggestions about using MH in late flower, I've swapped out my 100w HPS with a 100w MH. I already had four of the eight CFLs switched out to Daylight (veg) a few weeks ago. Along with changing out the HID light, I switched the placement around of the Soft White and Daylight CFLs. Just reversed their positions. Made up the diagram below to illustrate the change. This configuration is to give me a boost in potency. Well see!

In the Diagrams you are looking down from above. First figure is prior to switching and second is after the switch. The large circles represent the three plants (forgot to add them to the bottom figure! LOL) Fatleaf would be to the left with Big Girl in the center and the Runt on the right next to the fan.

that should work well.
Idealy you'd want a full spectrum all the way thru, but thats easier said than done with most indoor setups. Another Idea is to suppliment with cool white tube flourescents. Its not so much the wattage of blue light as it is giving them that taste of blue along with intense reds. I've been a strong believer in this for years (although my current personalls area is too small to incorporate it.) :( Thats why Hortilux bulbs are such a great hit, but unfortunatly they dont make them that small. I think the 270w Son T Agro is the smallest, no?

This is one of those important details that I never knew about, until I learned it here. Someone else will have to answer your question about the 270w Son T Agro. I have no clue!

looks like a "plate of buds",we gonna be some happy campers soon:cheertwo::grinjoint::cheertwo:

Like you Hypo, I can't wait! Yours truly turned out great!

woods,
those are gorgeous....watch the t's; some of mine will go overnight...not good, they always surprise me when they do, usually about 3-4 days....i usually watch the t's, and when they are white, i flush and just water after that....then when they're done, the t's, i harvest....looks like i have a romulan about to come off, need to chec:cheertwo:k the t's tonight again, but it could be any one of the 3 that are ready....so will ck them all...what a wonderful harvest you'll have....no more snow leopards huh? one of my favorite foods is ponnsett...not sure how you spell it, but i can make it great...looked to me like a version of spagetti...lavendar

Hi Lavendar, thank you for being so patient with me, lately, I've been in and out and may have missed some posts. Just posted over at your thread by the way.

I will be checking the trichomes everyday now. That means that I need to buy some more (many) AAA batteries for that Radio Shack microscope. I had issues last grow with trying to figure out where I was going with that. You can take three or four different samples from the same bud and find a different percentage of color on each one! I guess you got to just average them out and go for it! I'm at over 50% cloudy with no amber yet (on Fatleaf), so who knows when she'll be ready? Now I swapped the HPS for the MH, wonder if that can change the aging process?

hell yah woodsy the girls look great dude can't wait for the harvest you're gonna have some quality smoke man

I better this time! I'm sweatin it after the last batch!.

Once you get mostly cloudy your good. from there it is more conessuir (did I spell that right??) to what ype of stone. .........I'm not repeating old info again am I? More amber is not AS neccissary IMO IMO IMO in Indica dominant strains since they are more couchlock dominant anywho. ??? Once those babies go mostly cloudy they are fair game in my garden (with indica) But I'm absolutly anal about my sativa being 30%+ amber.
Again, It's my agenda.

Interesting Jason. I had learned different, that an indica will reach it's prime when there is amber present and a sativa when clear or cloudy or combination of the two depending on what you want. An indica picked with just clear or just cloudy is premature. Depends on the cross and which is more dominant. Just what I had learned, but I am not an expert! What you said sound like the reverse.

I dunno, I'm pretty medicated.

Both are at their prime once they reach that point. they just get more couchlock and less headhigh (IMO) once you get outnumbered by amber. I dunno. maybe I'm wierd. I do know that the amber trichomes are the ones that are breaking down rapidly by light. so it makes sense to me that if you get most or all cloudy with little amber you will have ultimate potency, but most strains in indoor conditions (even the best) are probably very unlikely to form so unison. Again, IDK. Just my thoughts, (the thoughts of a medicated man)

Indica when picked early will not reach it's potential, while a sativa is best picked before it turns amber. I think though that we all have are 'needs' when it comes to the kind of high we want.

OH! Man! As I was flying by, I thought that was some crazy diagram of your roof and what you had done:grinjoint::grinjoint::grinjoint:

That new set up looks good to me Bud, you know me, I would put every CFL I had over those girls at the same time. Roseman knows the more exact way to do it. I just let them go full spectrum all the way through with as many lumins as I can.:grinjoint:

Hope all is well on the home front and your sniffles are better.:cheertwo:

Glad you landed! Well I do have a total of 16 CFLs 8 soft white and 8 daylight. Problem for me is the lack of space for them and as I've found with the addition of the 4 40w, is the heat. I have enough issues with what's in there now. Any more and I'd have a 'Suzy Homemaker Oven'! With grilled cannabis on the menu!

The cold is a doozy! Today has been a mix of delirium with a bit of chills and a little stomach discomfort. It's Mountain that I'm worrying about. Hope he's OK?

I'll be hittin the sack shortly, it's been nice for the last couple of hours (that's when the wife went to bed). Peace and quiet, no arguing just able to chill and visit with you all.

I'll be visiting with ya tomorrow.

Yeah, worried about High too, and he's lifting those big ass pots.:smokin2:

Sure glad you are there and I am here......don't need any of that stuff.:smokin2:

I am a total mess when I get flu sick and I know I wont be getting any help from X.:smokin2:

Ahhhh she's asleep too!

Boy's time ro play.:bravo:

Oh Baby that bowl ROCKED me lastnight. Phew. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying you should harvest yet or anything, I was just throwing out some conversation.. I got to the point I had to just abandon the computer. lol ABORT ABORT!

Yea, I do agree we all have out own tastes.

Hey woodsy that's what i had learned to bout harvest potential with indica and sativa however we all do have needs and mine are nugs covered in little amber mushroom heads haha i love to be stoned out on my nugs but to each his own cannabis is such a complex lady haha

Today it's 80 degrees outside and I'm sick! Isn't that the sh*ts? I've got all kinds of things to do and now I'm too weak to do'em!

I too enjoy a slam bam high that gets me zonked. I don't want to fall asleep on it but I want to 'know' I'm stoned. When my wife looks at me and says, " your stoned ", that's the one I want!
