for the quick response and detailed information! +rep
When I put the bud in the jar it was pretty dry on the outside but it was dense and the stems on the big ones wouldn't snap yet. The smaller ones I tried did though. I thought I had read somewhere that this a correct way to tell when to jar it. Does this sound right?
" the green usually goes black, rare, or blondish, brownsual"- Are you referring to color of the inside of the bud, "hairs"(which are the typical red on mine) , or the ashes?(black from the joint)
As far as my flush, I'm growing in hempys with Osmocote +. So is really no way to flush them. I had read from other growers that this was not an issue. When you asked about the flush though it just occurred to me that I've been using a light(always less than half strength) solution of GH flower nutes for a mild phosphorus deficiency and cal/mag for calcium as well. Both worked well at fixing their issues at about 3/4 weeks into flower but I never stopped using them so they never had a chance to flush out.DOH! I'd bet thats allot of the problem.
So if the bitter doesn't go away with some time, a water cure will work? I knew that 10 days wasn't a full cure, but I didn't expect it to be so harsh. The first harvest I had didn't taste like this, with about the same amount of time in a jar. Wasn't anything special, but I blamed it on the plant having deficiencies half its life with less than optimum yields(kinda airy). I figured this harvest would be much better(it definitely is in yield and buzz)than that one because the plant stayed in good health all the way through, the buds were dense and heavy, and it was covered in trichomes. Also I had a microscope this time to check them with(I harvested at about 25% amber.
Thanks again for your help. Any help/advise is greatly appreciated.
Please let me know if my newbie questions become excessive Woodsman I can ask them in grow support area if you wish.
ok, this required ear phones, music, and a bowl full ... the leaves will turn brown....the zulu turns kinda gold, but the leaves are lighter colored....yes, the stems is a good yard stick, BUT...i put mine in when the outside is still soft on the buds, some say that is too early, but, i do it that way, esp. after reading all i could about tobacco curing, no books on curing mmj....i think the reason they say when the stems snap is because most will not open and exchange the air often enough and it will mold....i lost the biggest bud i ever grew due to that, just forgot it like a jerk....now i keep it in the kitchen where i have to see it....usually put the jars in a large brown bag, this is my way, and it works for me...they're in my road....so you'll have to find out what works best for you...if it is too wet, i take it out and put on the table a couple times a day and leave the lid off the jar, until it starts to do it right....by put it on the table i mean dump the jar out and leave it spread out for a while, half hr or so....then re jar and leave the lid off....if i leave it on the screen for too long or in a sack over near the bud room, i have soooo many dehumidifiers running and fans that it is crispy critter in two days, even in a curing box with lid on the screens....so im improvising and it is fine....been working over a yr. now, before, i always just commercial dried it and it burned up my throat, and made me cough....now its like air with a kick in the head, and a great smell and taste....when its flushed acc. to ed. r. it is white ash, yes it is....when it is really well flushed, and cured, it smokes to a white cloud ash...it all burns up....it is wonderful...and once you find your path, yours will be great....when it snaps and pops, it isnt just small and underdeveloped seeds, it is the fert....i know some of my good friends here use osc+. and i use it in the pond plants and the garden, vegetables, but in the pot i use other stuff...i dont know if it has heavy metals in it or not....its not just organic, but heavy metals that need to be watched for...i am sure that both mt. high and omm have cked into the osc well as both love it, so they would be good to ask also....its not my place in life to convert or convince anyone what to do....to each his/her own....whatever we can do and will do is good...and i applaud their grows, it is whatever works for you....i thank you for listening to what im saying, but i would also say to talk to as many others as poss. and also get their take on it....then make your own educated plan...one size does not fit all....and with that, ask anything, anytime, but remember, it is my opinion only, and we all have one....and thank you woodsman for letting me go off on your thread....i go for white cloud ash....hugs,oh, and as a p.s., i just finished that pipe, one thumb nail size bud, and what is left is half a pea size cloud of white fluff...
