Wonderland Grow

Ok those are preflowers close to the main stock, if you have them on 12/12 or they are autos I would say it should only be a few days until you see actual flowers.

They are autos. Yesterday I saw the first greenish little flower forming on the main stem of the AK.
And, simultaneously, Jack Herer developed her first pistils, so both of them took about a month (29 and 30 days) to get into flowering.

I found that a LUX measurement using my smartphone assisted in ascertaining the optimal distance between the plant and light. At the seedling stage LUX should be around 7800 when measured at the top of the plant.

I haven't got a real luxmeter yet, but I should try the smartphone apps indeed. Which one do you use?

Looking nice :thumb:

Hey Tomuk!
Thank you and welcome here. ;)

Looking good Alice. How are you getting on with the odour control?

Thank you, Vet.
You are on point with your question, because yesterday I'll be visited by my landlady. Though I can smell the AK, it is not anything strong yet.
As I planned it earlier, yesterday I will disassemble the tent and hide the girls. Here's the plan:

She (or they, if she comes with her husband) will arrive at around 4pm. I'll leave work earlier, I'll be home at around 1pm, so I will have 3 hours, which is plenty. The tent is in a closed room, which they never enter, but as I mentioned it a month ago, they asked me if I could paint the window frames for a deduction of the rental fee, and I said sure. We haven't talked about it since then, but there is a chance that they would like to see the condition of the windows, so we can discuss how I should paint them. This, of course, means that they would enter the closed room too. Disassembling the tent is the only way I can be sure that they will not discover it. Fortunately, I had this in my mind, and I set the timer for the light to turn off on afternoons, so their dark time is from 12am until 5pm (I'm on 19-5). I have a huge box, I've already measured it, the AK will go into it, and I will seal it with duct tape, put it in the corner of the room, then put other boxes around and on it. Jack Herer will have a place ina wardrobe, she doesn't have any smell yet, so she should be ok there. For extra security, I will wash clothes and towels, and hang them in that room, it usually creates a clean, fresh smell in the room. I got my OnaGel two days ago, but I haven't opened it yet. I'm not sure if I need it this time, the odor really seems to be manageable with the above described steps. I think I'll open the windows too. Best case scenario: window painting is not an urgent case, and they don't even enter the room.
Now, this is fine for this time, but a month from now, my girls will hopefully be full of flowers. Since they can only come on Fridays, I have this idea that I'm going to call them and say that I'm not at home on that Friday, and I will transfer the rental fee online.
Apart from these, I did get my carbon filter, which will be installed on Saturday or Sunday, I'm not fiddleing with it now, because no matter what, disassembling the tent is the safest way to go now.

Any other tips that may pop into your minds?

Seems like you've got a good plan. Will be fine I'm sure. Think I'll be picking up some ONA products this weekend as even with 2 DIY carbon filters running I can still smell them in the room. Contained to the room the cabinet is in right now. It's a sweet plant/slight weed smell. When I open the cabinet now it just stinks of weed though. Lol. My temps have been on the high end of the scale though so that's likely causing them to stink more. Hoping some ONA gel will help.

Hopefully it's okay to post this link. Worth a read as you're both using/going to be using LED.

Edit. Posted the wrong link first time.

So I caught up with your Auto grow.
I have been growing for about Three years now but just planted my first Auto's due to a seed swap with @Smeegol . So watching with interest. I have a time limitation as my cupboard is a veg cupboard and it looks like I have about a month to get the flowering cupboard ready from what I can see here.
Your plants look good now after all you initial concerns. Good job.
:popcorn::nomo:

Morning morning bit late to the party but I'll get caught up.. Those autos @Strainyourbrain finished up at 92 days and been drying last 10 days now.....

Yeh. Among all the other drying. Are you sure you don't need help to smoke it all over the next ten years or so. Oh, hang on there's another twenty years worth still to harvest.
Don't you just hate having to take your medicine. Lol

Thanks everyone for your support, today is the day!
It's 11:09am here, I'm in the office, going home in about an hour. Everything should go okay, yesterday I talked to the landlady, she will come alone this time, so I don't think there's any reason for her to go into my gardening room. For absolute safety, I will hide the girls as I planned anyways.

Hopefully it's okay to post this link. Worth a read as you're both using/going to be using LED.

Ok, so it doesn't explain why the meter won't work with a led, it just states that it won't, haha. :D
I will have to do some research about this topic.

Hey there guys, welcome!
My AK is 38 days old today (40, if counted from first taproot in paper towel). The breeder, RQS, claims that the average life cycle is 9-10 weeks, which includes 5-7 weeks of flowering. It means an average 3-5 weeks of vegging, and with 29 days until the first pistils, the progression of the plant is fine so far. If it indeed needs 7 weeks of flowering time, then that's 29+49, so 78 days, basically 11 weeks. If she lives up to these expectations, I can harvest her in mid to late May.
Jack Herer has almost the same whole life and flowering times provided by RQS, and she is a week younger than the AK. I'm quite curious about how accurate these assumptions will turn out to be.

A few words about my progression:
Yesterday evening I pulled the main stem of the AK out from the centre. It was only experimental to see how she would bend, but I liked the shape so left her that way. It opened up a lot of space in the centre, and all the lower growth received direct light. This morning though, the leaves on the main stem totally turned themselves back to the direction of light, so the lower sprouts are a bit shady again, but it's still much better than it was before.
Her smell is nothing too strong yet, the fish emulsion (FixhMix) I gave her days ago is much more stinky than the plant. :D

After the visit today, I'm leaving home, only coming back on Sunday, so there might not be an update until then.

Happy growing to all of you! :green_heart:

Yeah I have read why but can't remember off the top of my head. I remember something about quite complicated conversions when measuring LED light and I just thought it was more hassle than it was worth. Probably to do with the LED lights having variations in the amount of red, blue, IR, UV chips. Hard to get an accurate lux reading with a basic meter.

Good Morning, Alice - Your plants look great, that AK is really taking off-
She'll be trying to take over the room pretty soon!

Hope all goes well with the landlord visit-My son and his girlfriend have pets (rats and guinea pigs) that they're not allowed to have,so they bring them over to my house when the landlord checks in-they've gotten away with it for a few years now,so it's definitely possible to fool the landlord, as long as you have prior notice of the visit...

I don't know if you're planning on disassembling your tent every time, but you know, some people legitimately use grow tents for things besides cannabis....You could get like Basil,Thyme,Mint,Oregano,or other herb plants to put in the tent when the landlord stops by- when she asks what's in there, just show her your garden, and tell her how you just love to use fresh herbs in the kitchen.

Once she sees it,she probably won't have to look again-you may still need to hide the cannabis plants, but at least the grow tent can stay where it is....
Just a thought..good luck with today's visit!

You know what's funny? I actually have the exact same idea in my mind for a few weeks now.
I will not disassemble it every time, for sure. One thing, that it's a pain in the arse (however, now it was only like 10 minutes to assemble it back), but the more important thing is the tent is the main tool to hide the smell (ok, it's the carbon filter, but the filter has to be hung in the tent :D).

So, yes, I did think about having other plants, vegetables, grow them, show them to everyone that come over here, and then I could feel myself much more safer. The problem with this: most people who know me know that I smoke weed, and it would be, hmm, let's say quite obvious that I'm not growing vegetables there. If not obvious, at the least, very, very strange. And these tents, here, are known for growing weed. I don't say that there's nobody in the whole country that grows other plants in them, but if I had to guess I'd say 80-90% of the tents are purchased for growing weed. So while it really seems like a great idea at the first look, I have to weigh other, possibly better solutions first.

If this grow goes as planned, then next month I'm just going to skip the personal meeting and transfer the rental fee online, and then in June, once again, IF everything goes well, I will have already harvested and jarred up my girls. Then I will put away the tent for 1 or probably 2 months, and work out this whole thing to not actually be a timebomb as it is now.
Initially, I wanted to grow in a bigger wardrobe, but I changed my mind and purchased the tent. Well, I'm not really a practical type of person, but if I could "build" a wardrobe and establish an environment around it (for exhausting and stuff like that), that looks totally natural in a room, that may work. The best way would be to put the whole tent in a wardrobe, but it would be quite a bulky one, haha.:D

All in all, everything went fine today. I could have just leave everything as it was because she didn't really cared about the room, window renovation wasn't a topic today, but you know, better be safe. Unfortunately, after closer inspection, I realized that it wasn't only a smaller leaf that I ripped of, but I actually broke the stem of the oldest fan leave. I wasn't paying enough attention when I lifted the AK, and one paper clip-rubber band combo stretched to its limit, got released from the side of the other smartpot, and like a slingshot it flew right into the middle of the plant. I tried to fix it with wires and duct tape, but I don't really have much hope for that leaf to survive.

I have to leave for the weekend now. Have a great weekend all of you!:green_heart:

I like that idea! Reading further along I see this wont work for Alice but it's still an idea that could work for some people. Anyway, I just wanted to mention that I have been starting basil from seed in my tent. I use the soak in cup and then paper towel method just as with cannabis seeds and pop the germinated seeds in a Solo cup. Two weeks in tent and then to the windowsill. Every two weeks I start a new batch of two or three seeds. This way there is a continuous supply of fresh basil.
