Winter Weedy Wonderland - Auto Grow - Royal Queen Seeds

Well, funny....I couldn't compute when I was in pain this morning. But now that I'm zooted, this makes sense. LOL
Thanks again! I think I may have a plant with some kind of deficiency going on, we will use this to dial in what's up.
This is going to be a nice learning experience.
Looks like my VPD calculation for mid flower is okay at 1.4ish.
But that one plant....I'll work on it tomorrow when I can get the refractometer tests done.
The one in peril, she may have lesser roots. If you are organic, a fish water feeding and a myco drench may fix her right up in about a week. VPD really just matches the roots to the shoots without light poisoning her. It syncs her intake to her rate of photosynthesis.

Regardless of where she's at, maintaining that sync is all that really matters. Not maintaining it, either plus or minus, causes stress, impairment, and quite possibly disease.
Wait 'till she hears that if she gets her brix up above 12ish, the f'n bugs go away. :laughtwo:

I keep hearing Grandma saying "Put a coat on! You will catch your death of cold!" when I leave the room. 😂

Did you get Jiggi's question on tent vs. room? Have any thoughts on that?
Is it pointless for me to do this in a room rather than a tent?

I will be using a grow tent at some point, but not sure when. Certainly not during this grow.
i didnt mean pointless..it came out wrong. 💜

hows your back and your arse? hope youre feeling better

I know that isn't what you meant. That was my own thought, which probably came out wrong. 😂

Up early this morning, and I'm doing okay. I don't think anything got broken or cracked....YEY!

Good Mornfternoon All

Mornin' Lady C.😊☕️.

Hope your not as Butthurt today. (Too soon?)
I'm doing pretty good. Long hot bath last night, and some cannabis lotion helped a bunch. Joe reminded me of the lotion because after a hot bath the pores of the skin are opened up....so I put some lotion on my stomata.

I'm waiting for lights on in the grow, I think they will need water and feed today. Then I have to calibrate the refractometer before I start with it. I fussed around with temp and RH readings around the room the IR VPD gun compared to the two digital units I have in there, and the readings are close enough to feel we're consistent.

I'll be testing out my toys throughout the day and write down results and any questions I might have.

I don't believe I will need it, but for others I looked for VPD calculators on google play and found nothing for Android users. Apple users had one called Dr. Greenhouse VPD calculator.

I was reading through one of your VPD write ups, and will finish those up over another cuppa in a bit. Thanks for all you do here our friend!

:)

🤣 Now you just need to get your brix back up before the bugs get ya!🤣

👍, perfect😊

I'm really looking forward to see how the new IR gun performs.

I got one from a site called Cannafused a few years ago that has disappeared now. The online ones like the one @con posted are good too.

You're welcome, and thanks to you too for all that you do too😊👊.

The @420 collective is a beautiful thing🥰

The ones below are the ones I have that I can find. Since the latest software update my bookmarks function doesn't work like it used to.

I've lost a lot of my labels that marked the bookmark so I have it marked but can't see it. It used to work really well, but I may try a different way going forward since I'm really starting to dislike it.

VPD Basics

VPD and Leaf Temps

VPD Info
Thanks Azi👍👊

Update: RQS Auto grow 1-5-25

While I was in there, I took some quick pics.

Goat'lato is still not in flower, but it's only been a couple days of the light schedule flip to try to get them going.
Royal Gorilla and Royal Creamatic are flowering nicely, despite the damn thrips. Considering spraying neem oil on them, but not sure if I want use that during flower either. Have to read up...again. LOL I will do a top soil spray though.

Does it really matter where I take the leaf from to squeeze? Is there any particular part of the plant I should use a leaf from for best results?
I like to use lower upper leaves. Ones that are 3 or 4 nodes from the top. Find one that is in lesser light if you can so the plant doesn't feel it when you pluck it.

Try for one that is fully developed but not damaged.

I leave the ones in the best light alone so the plant can keep using them.

If you cut the petiole off close to the blades, then fold the leaf and roll it into a ball, then roll that ball around between your finger tips, slowly with pressure applied, after about 15-30 seconds your fingers will start to get wet. It will give up it's sap a lot easier at that point. Then squeeze out a drip onto the prism.

If the reading line is fuzzy then calcium levels are good. If the reading line is sharp and very exact to read, calcium is low.

I had the same idea about just lower than top of canopy where the healthiest looking leaves are.

Reason being is I know brix reading depends on a healthy leaf. I’ve taken sap from a dry dying yellow leaf and brix read 25…. It was probably really under 7. But read high because the sugar wasn’t being moved much and the leaf was so dry that it basically concentrated the sugars like boiling water off something and it leaves the stuff in higher and higher concentration the less water there is.

So just the healthier looking stuff and nothing dead or dying. Once brix is up it’ll be a lot harder to find the bad leafs I’ll guess.

I'm using my Rosin press to get the liquid out. It's set up on a table in the grow room with a light next it. Convenience.
It's pretty easy and I've gotten a nice lot of juice to apply to the refracto.
