Who Let The Dogs Out? Chem Comparison Grow!

More and more I'm considering just dropping 4 fem seeds of the same strain, vegging them to a good size, and flowering them together. Provided they all grow similarly it should make a grow such as that a bit easier.

I am bound and determined to learn how to set up and run a scrog grow in my little 2' x 2' breeding tent. Veg long enough to fill the net entirely then flip it right into flowering.

It sure does make it easier. I'm running three strains in a 2' X 4' (60 X 120cm) tent for the first time. Every other time it has been a single strain. It's more than 10 times the work running three. I can't use automatic watering, as they all have different requirements. It's back to serially monogamous tents for me.

I wish I could setup a pump and a manifold so that I didn’t have to manually water... would make gardening a snap.

I just had something strange happen while making a batch of tincture. I decarboxylated and washed the material, everything normal. Then I put the jar into a war water bath cause I like to reduce my tinctures by half. After about 5 minutes in the water, the bottom of the jar broke out, and all of the tincture spilled into the water bath. What happened was strange. I got 3 distinct layers; clear water on the bottom, a layer of cloudy precipitate in the middle, and yellow/green alcohol on the top. So I syphoned off the alcohol using an eye dropper, and I’m cooking some of the water out of the cloudy/water mixture.. what happened here? Which layer containers the cannabinoids?

What I’m hoping happened is that the sort of polar molecules like plant waxes joined the water as murky precipitate and all of the cannabinoids stayed in the alcohol.
Any thoughts, anyone?

How hydrophobic are cannabinoids really?

I wish I could help but I honestly don't have a clue.

I made 150 gummies out of 2T of the alcohol. We’ll see how they turn out :cheesygrinsmiley: .
Here’s the alcohol. It’s murky and gold, burns to the taste. Looks like tincture to me.

@Dutchman is rigging something up now (Dutchman’s Pheno Hunt!) and @Preston9mm uses a similar setup with a glory hole. Both those guys, when you are ready, would be more than willing to share their knowledge.
The good ol' Glory Hole. LoL

Today was up-pot day for my Black Cherry Punch plant. I've been trying to slow down her growing as I won't have anywhere in which to flower her for about 4 weeks. Looking at her today I could tell she was in need of a bigger pot. So I moved her up from a 1/2 gallon pot up to a 2 gallon pot. Her next up-potting she should hopefully look just like this with a bountiful, healthy root system. She is loving my homemade organic soil. Her final home will be a 4 gallon pot.

Beautiful root system beez. I am waiting to see roots, it's been 10 day in soil. Beez, I would be interested in your recipe for organic soil. I love growing in soil, and FFOF is pricy. Plus, I have no idea what to mix.:goof:

Seriously that is an insane root ball! She’s gonna explode in her next pot.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to post a quick update so you guys can see how things are coming along. Everybody is stretching really good now and starting to put out button tops. I did a little defoliation in hopes that the lower down tops will come up near canopy height.
I hung my other LED panel which is 203w actual.. putting my grand total of power draw at 445w. My tent is ~7 sqft so adding that extra panel puts my watts/sqft just over 60. With my portable AC I’m still able to maintain ~77F daytime temps. Hopefully I can get close to 1g/w. Here’s a photo

Also, last night all 3 Cookies n Chem girls got their first dynagro feed. This morning everybody looks nice and happy without any burn or deficiencies so that’s a big breath of relief for me.

Hope everyone is having an excellent Friday!

ChefDGreen, that is some garden you got going on, beautiful.:meatballs:

@Bean 7175 I have my organic soil recipe in my old thread. You can find it on page 108 and you can get there with this link.

And you just pop a gallon jug of nute solution in the hole and it drip feeds? That seems like a pretty dope design/idea.

I want to share this picture. Fox 2a there is just a little light shining up under the leaves. The yellowing of the veins is not so pronounce with no light. I hope this isn't a bad sign.

Time to enjoy this day. cheers

Hey there you go Bean! Everything is looking really nice and healthy. They look like they’re really penetrating their root zone. I bet you these ones make it through for ya!

Well everyone, I wanna do another canopy shot for you all. Even though I did one not too long ago(on Friday). I think you’ll all be pretty blown away by the progress... I know I am.

Here’s the tent
Girl 3 has really exploded and has totally filled in all the empty canopy space I previously had.
So over the course of this week, I’ve done a lot of stem rubbing to try to get an idea of what the smoke will be like. I’ve come to some conclusions, and I’ve decided to change the names I call my plants. Girl 1 is now Pure Gas, girl 2 is now Gassy/Fruity and girl 3 is now Fruity/Floral. They all smell very distinctly.

Also thank you to @EastCoastGhost and @Pennywise . After being fed the Dyna-Gro, all of my plants look happier than ever. I was seeing a bit of N abundance and it’s gone. Also, their leaf lift has been increase a good 15-20 degrees. They really reach up now.
Now, I know I’ve been saying this for weeks, but tomorrow I will take out my chems and take some more thorough pictures for you all.
I promise.
Anyhow, happy Monday everyone!

Hey everyone!

Welcome to Monday - boo. :(

Today is DAY 21 since germination.

I am pretty happy with the progress on my four plants over the past few days. I was a bit concerned that they were looking kind of "mottled" and not a nice vibrant green. Well, call me a slow learner... they were just hungry!

In my last grow, when the girls were just a couple of weeks old, I was advised that they were too dark-green in colour and so I backed off a bit on the EC. I started at the same EC this time around, and my current plants were a really light green colour. Starting on Friday, I increased the EC a bit with each watering, and I think they are looking much happier now. I will still increase a bit more over the next few days, but I think they are getting close to the sweet spot of nute strength.

Here are my two Chems (I'll do a full update in my journal tomorrow, covering The Doctor and Northern Lights):

As you can see, the fourth node is emerging. I am going to wait a few more days, and then I'll be topping them, following the same quadlining technique that I did in my first grow.

Hope your week is off to a good start.

Nice job Bard. Things look right on track at this point.

Good deal, glad you got them turned around.

That is one that has my attention too. When I finally decide to do some autos, this one is definitely on the short list.

We chose Dark Devil and they are a real disappointment so far. I had 4 out of 7 seeds die because the root kept spiralling like a "pigs-tail".

So far it is the slowest growing ... and worst germinating strain in my garden.

Hopefully the buds on the plants that survived will bloom well and make up for it.
