Who Let The Dogs Out? Chem Comparison Grow!

All four gals in my grow are progressing nicely. Second set of true leaves emerging on all of them. Today is DAY 8 since germinating. Here are the two Chem strains...

Hope everyone's week is off to a great start!
Looking great there Bardy! What’s your growing method? Soil organics?

Thanks Cheffy!

No, I am back to coco and GH trio, Cal/Mag, RO water. Terpinator etc. to follow in flowering.

They'll be in these solo cups for another week or so, and then up-potted to 3-gallon fabric. I really like the combination of coco and fabric - really good airflow to the roots.

I don't like the look of one or two of the leaves, especially on the Chem 91 - looks a little mottled or variegated, so I think I will add a bit more Cal/Mag to next batch of nutes. Formula is very diluted at this stage as the cotyledons are still providing lots of nourishment, but the coco and LEDs seems to suck up all the calcium.

Have a great evening!

Earlier in the week someone mentioned mine in 4 days looks leggy. And it is! I mentioned in reply that I have a solution if it gets worse. I use rockwool so If someone wants to help a tall seedling this is my solution using my 2 inch rockwool plugs.

Mine don't actually need this now, so excuse my stick figure animation...This has worked 2 times and now maybe 3.

Next measure how much of a boot she needs and cut the plug to size. Dig my ruler?
IMG_20190827_174423.jpg

Burry the plug with pellets to support the boot untill it can stand on its own. Remove it or leave it!!

IMG_20190827_174423.jpg

Keep it till its not needed or leave it

Done it day before yesterday (lifted the humidity dome up closer to the light) it seems to be doing the trick. I just thought to share a quick fix if gravity starts to get the upper hand! o_O Like an ankle brace.. As it is now, I can simply put it deeper in pellets while still in the nursery.

Thanks again. As usual, "you say, I obey"

Time to make good on my illustrations. And "GOODY"; Now I get to see any roots. Wow in5 days! Beautiful roots!

I hope I don't see any minor transplant shock. I pampered those roots during the transplant so I'm confident.

This is the same thing I've been doing lately and I thought I was moving them too early. Guess not!

Thanks ChefD. Nice to greet you!

I was turned into a Bubbleponic Bubblehead back in February with my first grow by pennywise and others; "bubbles has been bery bery good to me". The root mass's have been fabulous and you cant get that beautiful view growing in earth or coco and I am able to spot issues early on (so far none, knock on formica). I get to inspect it with every water change. And the way my pots are setup, I can completely lift the plant without touching anything else and I never need to look inside to see the water level my $.50 cent DIY water level gauge. Between my manic obsession with being able to grow Literally, in my closet with manageable plastic buckets and aquarium air pumps, in HALF A YEAR; I've already told the dispensaries to "K.M.A."

I'm probably gonna make y'all laugh here but I never consumed more than 3 grams per week. So my first few screwups still provided me with enough stash till these dogs make good (and right now there's two good looking auto's in the pots (one 5 weeks and in early flowering.

warezaholic digging the black and white of the Chemdawg. Happy growing:yummy:

That’s exactly what I did, I made fan leaf tincture. I’m not looking to make any concencrates, I don’t have any way to smoke them and Mrs. Chef doesn’t like them. The reason I didn’t go with an oil infusion is because the amount of oil I would have had to use would have resulted in basically no potency at all. I went the tincture route because I can bring it down until it is actually potent.

Here’s a garden update for you folks! I really wanted to take pictures on Saturday for the Sunday photo dump but I get home from the restaurant super late and I have to return early in the morning on Sunday. Anyhow here’s the Cookies n Chem.

Everything pretty much looks the same, except for the star pupil. She’s way bigger than she was a week ago.
It’s been 3 days since I flipped that lights and I haven’t seen any stretching yet.. any day now they should take off. Anyhow, now for some light reading :cheesygrinsmiley:

ChefDGreen beautiful heathly looking garden you got going on. :thumb:

Nice warezaholic.

Sad, news, babies are not doing so good. I'll be experiment with Happy Frog and FFOF. I'll be planting same new seeds in the different soils. I have to get to the bottom of this disaster. It's not just the watering. It's got to be something on top of it.
Here is a picture of last years babies.

Above,12 days, just isn't right. They should be a lot bigger. The only thing I did different is the light system and the chemdog, and #2 seeds. The #1 seed was one of the ones, I grow last year. I just change back to the Hydro Crunch t5 (replaced with LED's) 4ft, 8 lamps will see if that happens.
Thought I had more pictures, I'll have to take somemore.
I'm not planting the Chemdog when the seed come in the mail, I'll wait and see what happens with the Happy Frog and FFOF experiment.
I wonder, if I have a bad bag of soil (FFOF) or perlite. I also, dunk my seeds in peroxide than into water, next the paper towel method. What, do you think of peroxide dip? Time to look over the seeds stash, that is the fun part. :yahoo:

If I were you I wouldn’t dip the seeds into peroxide. I’d just plop em in a shot glass of water overnight, then right into the soil if the seed sunk in the water. That’s been my most successful method. Only one failed germination out of 16 plants

Mr Bean, By my inexperienced standards, your seedlings look ok! I would say that they just may need more time to grab hold! I think my past failures were my own fault by over watering and causing rockwool to root lock.

I bought 5 Chem4 seeds and after trying to germ 2 seeds one opened really fast one failed even after 5 more days it never opened.

Meanwhile, I" SAND SCARED " a third seed (while keeping the unoped seed wet until the 3rd would germinate; and it too looks like a DUD. If IT fails as well, I'm taking it as an omen that, for now, to grow just this one single Chemdawg. OR, im just a gullible Ass Jack falling for the same "magic bean swindle" for a fifth time!

I have (or had) such high hopes for Dr Seeds because of the speed and efficiency of the ordering process.

"Good" Luck has never been an abundant virtue in my life! Knock on formica!

The top [seed #2] was a 9 or 10 day failure and the bottom (sand scarred) soaking for 3 days looks like a DUD too.

Maybe my area won't sustain 2 Chemdawg plants??? It's a chance I'm over reaching with 2 .

That is too bad, Ms. Bean. Frustrating when they fail. I don't have any advice for what is going wrong, but it sounds like you are eliminating the variables one by one. Your plant from last year looks super, so we know you can nail it!

I haven't used peroxide as a dip. I don't do the soak thing at all, actually. Just damp paper towel in a warm-ish, dark place. Hope you crack the mystery soon.

I think everyone stresses a little during that delicate stage of the plant's life. Having said that, I'm glad I got through mine!

Here's my CD #4 at day 35. She's been handling the training great and has a nice flat canopy right now.
