Who Let The Dogs Out? Chem Comparison Grow!

Thanks Salty, i know a handful of the terms from being mentored in 420, now I'm breaking into the "ABBREVIATED dictionary. but in here, I'm swimming towards the deep end and it's basicall starting Cannacolledge second semester, while being stoned half of the first semester. My newest Chemdawg grow is gonna be the midterms..

Hey everyone...

consider planting the seed a little deeper

@Bean 7175 and @warezaholic - I've become a big believer in this advice that Beez shared. It was typical for me that about 50% of seeds would germinate with the shell in-place. For this most recent grow, I planted the seeds about 1/2-3/4" deep in coco. Completely saturated the medium with pH'd water to remove any air pockets. All four came up, without the shell. Small sample size for sure, but seemed to make a difference. I'm guessing that they had to push a little harder to break through the medium, and the longer journey to light helped pull off the husk. Just another variable for you to consider.

Lookin great there @beez0404 ! She’s coming along really well. Quite the substantial above ground growth.

@Bean 7175 your babies seem to coming around! What did you change?

Very nice @warezaholic ! It’s gonna be fun to see the hydro rate of growth on that chem#4

Hey everybody. I just wanna share with you all something I’ve been working on.

So pretty much, I took a bag of frozen fans and a threw em on a cookie sheet, and put them in the oven at 240 degrees.

It took about 3 hours for everything to completely dry out; I gave it a extra hour for complete decarboxylation.

I then crunched them up and put them in a quart ball jar, and covered the material with everclear. I froze the jar and shook it everyday for a week.

Today I strained out the alcohol.

I put the jars of alcohol in a hot water bath outside to evaporate off

Once the level of alcohol was down to one pint jars worth, I brought it inside and put it in a pan of simmering water to evaporate off the rest of the alcohol

Here we have the finished product, it’s black and syrupy. The tiny taste I’ve had gave me a subtle head change the moment I put it in my mouth. Im going to put it into a batch of gummies pretty soon here, I think it will be potent sleep meds.

My hope is that the small amount of water in the everclear will make mixing the Cannabinoids into a water/gelatin mixture easier.

I'm wondering how potent that would be compared to making oil with sugar leaves or buds? I make brownies for some friends to help them sleep and use trim. It makes for very potent brownies.

Thanks ChefD. Nice to greet you!

I was turned into a Bubbleponic Bubblehead back in February with my first grow by pennywise and others; "bubbles has been bery bery good to me". The root mass's have been fabulous and you cant get that beautiful view growing in earth or coco and I am able to spot issues early on (so far none, knock on formica). I get to inspect it with every water change. And the way my pots are setup, I can completely lift the plant without touching anything else and I never need to look inside to see the water level my $.50 cent DIY water level gauge. Between my manic obsession with being able to grow Literally, in my closet with manageable plastic buckets and aquarium air pumps, in HALF A YEAR; I've already told the dispensaries to "K.M.A."

I'm probably gonna make y'all laugh here but I never consumed more than 3 grams per week. So my first few screwups still provided me with enough stash till these dogs make good (and right now there's two good looking auto's in the pots (one 5 weeks and in early flowering.

I'll give it a try, with the next set of seeds.:thanks: I don't want to be disappointed again. I just started watering Em's way, BB 4, just got watered, slowly. Time to check the mail. :)

Good work ChefDGreen, I love gummies. Happy Dreams.

I hope that I can learn to make a effective enough edible to be as good as smoking because 2 years ago I was diagnosed with one of the rarest form of lung disorder "necrotizing pneumonia" and right now the pneumonia part of is flaring up and its the first and worst symptom.

I'm gonna look into making edibles after my pending (week over due) visit to the hospital.

Yay! @Emilya is definitely the guru of watering, and lots of other topics. Good luck!

Nice! Mrs. Bard and I do almost exclusively edibles - rarely smoke. @Preston9mm has a great thread here with good techniques and recipes. I'm happy to help as well. Hope all goes well at the hospital - I hate doctors. LOL. :)

This is exactly the reason I did this. I was curious of that myself. I figured that, if these strains that we grow exhibit 20-30% thc in the dried, finished buds then the rest of the plant material has to have some cannabinoids in it. I’m guessing that the potency will be similar because of my methodology. If I were to say, make butter out of these fans, I’d have to use such a small amount of butter the process would be difficult if not impossible. BecAuse I went with ethanol extraction I think the potency will be there, just the yield is very minimal. Some say it’s a waste of the alcohol because of the tiny yield, I say give me all my cannabinoids thank you!

You might want to look into infusions which are usually oil based, and tinctures (usually alcohol based). Some folks dab a little extract on their gums. These all are faster acting than edibles.

Most edibles, tinctures, and infusions start with a cannabis extract. There are two methods of extracting the cannabinoids, solvent based, and mechanical. Solvent based extractions use liquids such as alcohol, or gasses such as CO2 to strip the cannabinoids and terpenes from the vegetative matter. Mechanical extractions use heat and pressure with a rosin press. Solvent based extractions are usually more dangerous than mechanical extractions, as most of the liquids and gasses are volatile. Unless the solvent is recovered there is an elevated danger of fire or explosion when the solvent is boiled off. Solvent based extractions where the solvent is boiled off are the cheapest way to go in the USA where 190 proof Everclear is available. A simple pot still to recover the Everclear makes this method much safer. The safest method is to use a rosin press for your extractions. @Grandpa Tokin has a good thread for both methods:
If these don't float your boat, check out how to make your own hash. It's not as concentrated, but should be usable.

After performing the extraction, or making hash, you will need to decarboxylate it before making your edibles, tinctures, infusions, or dabs.

That’s exactly what I did, I made fan leaf tincture. I’m not looking to make any concencrates, I don’t have any way to smoke them and Mrs. Chef doesn’t like them. The reason I didn’t go with an oil infusion is because the amount of oil I would have had to use would have resulted in basically no potency at all. I went the tincture route because I can bring it down until it is actually potent.

Here’s a garden update for you folks! I really wanted to take pictures on Saturday for the Sunday photo dump but I get home from the restaurant super late and I have to return early in the morning on Sunday. Anyhow here’s the Cookies n Chem.

Everything pretty much looks the same, except for the star pupil. She’s way bigger than she was a week ago.
It’s been 3 days since I flipped that lights and I haven’t seen any stretching yet.. any day now they should take off. Anyhow, now for some light reading :cheesygrinsmiley:

Is it legal for the hospital to administer CBDS. It's available over the counter if I could afford it.

Maybe if i O.D. on vitamins, my body can fight the infection on its own. (I don't believe that in my own head AT ALL.)

That's great news about edibles, Thanks.

I have asked Google about making ectracted caniboid and decided that 99% alchohol is the cleanest (and cheapest).

I now regret tossing out my first bag of clippings! Maybe the dump site worms can benefit. Michigan made it possible for me to stay away from all opiates when We legalized pot... it distracts me from the pain so i can fall asleep.

But laws can change as quickly as a new administration. I suspect the commercial growers are eventually wipeout home growing hidden inside a muddied up, 400 page Bill that only their lawyers can decifer. THEY ARE SO DEVIOUS.

All four gals in my grow are progressing nicely. Second set of true leaves emerging on all of them. Today is DAY 8 since germinating. Here are the two Chem strains...
