Who Let The Dogs Out? Chem Comparison Grow!

Assuming I can get the seed in time, I'm in!

The website I usually get my seeds from is down, says "Website Offline". Hoping it is temporary.

Good luck with sourcing! Join us when you can.

So we have a bit of a lull until this comparative grow "officially" kicks off in August. So to pass the time, here's a question. Everyone can answer, regardless of skill/experience. The question is, what was the most difficult strain/cultivar you ever grew all the way to harvest? What were the challenges that you ran in to? How did you fix the problem?

Since we have some really seasoned growers here, as well as a bunch of greenies, should get an interesting range of answers.

For me, it was my photoperiod GSC, which is currently in Week 5 of flower. Can never get the sweet spot of nutrient EC for her. Always burning or starving. I think she will make it to the finish line, but I don't think I came even close to making the most of her potential.
Original Sour Diesel. Any stress in flower and she'll hermie on you. The first time I grew her I had light leaking from my veg tent. Her reaction was....severe. Catastrophic even. I didn't chop them and still harvested the best cannabis I've ever smoked. Superb head high. The second time around, I had the light situation handled. It was my second grow with synthetics and I overfed them once and boom, nanners.

Thanks Bob. Yes Chem seems to have a cult-like following with some folks here!

I'm one. That first plant made me a believer. Now on a perpetual pheno hunt.

Let one go. Prolly do it again. I guess why I like fishing a little bit.

Plants; they have an unusual relationship with hoo-man. :passitleft:

I'm an unusual hoo-man with usual and unusual relationships. high AF again, lol.

Chemdawg pics forthcoming.

Are we doing a comparo grow? or something.

A lot of breeders think there’s Thai and Pakistan in Chems lineage

From BOEL - Early Thai Sticks were seeded and wrapped in paper.

BOEL collected seeds. Started some of the first indoor gardening. Likely on the back of Orange Sunshine. Weed seemed much tamer back then. lol

Targeting a seed-drop date any time between August 1 through the end of September, at least for the first wave. But folks can feel free to join in later, if that works better for schedules. Just comment on this thread if you might be interested, and start sharing your plans. Would be great to hear what genetics you are thinking of using, your medium, lights, techniques, etc.

My plan is to drop seeds August 26th. I know I'll be off that week. That work in terms of timing? My goal is to have 2 chemdog plants as well as some others, harvested, dried and cured by Xmas/New Years.

In terms of lights, I am going to go with the QB550v2 I have, and then try and obtain another white light type that is equivalent. Both lights will be in a 4x8 tent. I'm planning 2 chem type autos, along with 6 other autos (total of 4 strains).

For technique, I am currently trying out QuadLining on my current grow. If that works, I'll be doing it on the this grow as well.

I'll be growing in Soil (Happy Frog) in 5 gallon fabric pots.

Dropping your seeds in late August is great for participating in this grow, and if it works for your time off, then perfect!

That will give you about four months, or 17 weeks, from seed drop to smoke. Does that seem a little tight? But if you can do it, I'd love to watch!

Sounds like another unforgiving one. The light leaks I can understand, and I have tried to be really careful about that. When you overfed, what medium were you using, if you recall? I've been growing in coco, and when the GSC gets twitchy, I can back off or increase nutes pretty quickly.

Sounds like you enjoyed the fruits of your labour anyhow!

Hi guys,

I am a week in to a 4 plant organic dry amendment Sour Diesel (Dinafem) grow in Coco. I'm looking forward to seeing your contributions!

I'm going with Chemdogging Autos. If I drop on at the end of August, that should get me completely done by the end of November, beginning of December depending on the genetics. (I think) Need to break down entire grow room over Christmas break.

Coco is my chosen medium. I did back off quickly but it only takes a little stress and Sour becomes a male.
