Wheelo's 3rd run - Attack of the Holy Shoots

btw, I smoked the first HS i took. . . lets start a running tally so i know my final dry wt.

the first plant was bigger than I thought @ 3 grams dry. . . kinda encouraging for the rest.

I am going to smoke the GWS today, doing a bit of microwave drying.

desperate times for another week. . . I might take another tonight to keep my supply going while i wait for my real harvest day. Gotta have something to toke on ya know?
 
damn man.. seems like youre havin quite a few lil troubles with this grow :/.. i know how that can be man, im sure youll tune it all in tho man, good luck!

the scrog (although extra crispy) looks fucking SNazzy dude!
 
whats the temperature of your res?
on one cube I had close to the light the water around it got warm and the top of the cube got dry but not the center of the cube
it got that coating on the top and my stem also was eaten through right through the stem like your taller plants
althoe mines was just a baby but similar buildup to yours and your cube inside the rw looks like the cube green and fungusy
 
troubles or not, looks like you are going to come away with some nice buds! Who cares what the trim pile looks like... but those young un's do have some purty leaves... :yummy:

thx odor, yeah I'm having a rough time of it again, but no sweat, nothing i can do about it and the buds will trim nice. . . it just gonna affect the bottom line after the dry.

my res temp at the moment is 66*. . . i left the pump on and the shutoff closed a couple times and it got up near 80* for a few hours, but its usually between 66 and 68. there is a bit of algea on the ones i didnt tape up, but its not terrible, also there is some orangey buildup that looks like the beginning of a stalagmite. then there is some white spots that look like fine salt. but inside the RW just looks normal.

exactly man, as this is just for me and my buds, hopefully this should be plenty to hold me all the way over til the next one this time. I'm sure these problems hurt my overall yield, and therefore my efficiency, and that is really how i judge myself in the end. So its disappointing not reaching your goals, but in the end I do a good enough job to get great bud. I don't use the trim for hash or anything usually so it doesn't kill me that the fans are torched, but like i said, its a bit disappointing.

I have some HS clones vegging, you can see them in the pics. . . I am running them next, but no journal.

a combination of not enough time, needing a break, redesigning my grow room, so I will be changing around a lot of stuff, just too hectic to try to run a journal. besides I have kinda done what I wanted to do. show my trials and tribulations with the wheel.

I'll still be around, and will probably upload pics to my gallery.
 
today, i changed the wheel res to flush. . . I am gonna flush them for a few days, maybe longer. I am set to harvest in a couple days, but i could push it a bit if the tric's say so.

I do need holiday bud though so I will prob harvest the scrog on wed. no matter what.

So you only gonna dry it for 2 days and no cure? And still blaze it up on x-mas day? :popcorn:
 
Hey WOF its been a long time since I've come around.Look slike I have alot of reading to do just got through your journal. Good job on the grow wow hydro and soil side by side and a wheel man. who wouldn't love your journal. good job +reps

well, this bud should be my supply for the next few months, so yeah I will start smoking it as soon as it dries. . . I dont think it'll be dry in 2 days considering the temps around here right now. Probably 5-6 days to really dry, thats why i've been taking a couple early, or I will quick dry if I have to. not the best method, but better than no bud for the holidays. :rasta:

But the bulk of it will be fully dried and cured. one day i will get to the point where my supply exceeds my own demand, and I will harvest new bud still having old bud, and will be able to cure it all before I taste it. but I'm not there yet.

yeah it has, glad to see you around. thanks, although the last few weeks I had some problems (as usual) I'm sure the will all trim up really nicely. but you got here for the final bang, I will take at least the scrog by wed. . . i think the wheel might want a couple days extra to flush.

the best part about running the wheel and scrog side by side is going to be comparing the smoke. . . the hydro is all AN nutes, the full line. should be the best tasting bud around if you judge a book by its price. lol. . . the scrog is 99% organic, so it should be the best tasting if you believe in mother nature. After this grow is done I'll know first hand if I can tell the difference between the two.

Wheel the thing I do to quick dry..well kinda quick dry for testing. I just place a a couple nugs on top of my light and usually over night they will dry. Or you can put it on anything that gives off heat, but it needs to be indirect heat. Like the back of an oldschool t.v. Just some info..I'm sure you've got it covered already though.

thanks butch, good advice. . . I usually break some up, put it in a cardboard box, and on top of my cable box. . . I tried the microwave method for a real insta-dry, and to my surprise that worked pretty well also for real last minute drying. but, hopefully it wont come to that. :ganjamon:

I used to quick dry on top of my t8's but i think the 400 is too hot. I do have the packaging from my ps3 though, and the end pieces will hold a decent amount of buds, and keeps the actual cardboard up an inch off of the light, so that works great to put it on something too hot.

I've already been dipping into it so i don't have to buy any, I'd rather smoke quick dried free, than pay for dirt crapola.

according to SC, there is no need to flush, this is what he says in the article:

"Buds grown with this method finish with a fade and a smoother, fruitier flavor. The plants aren’t green at harvest time, but rather purple, red, orange, even black—plus the resin content is heavier, and the terpenes always seem more pungent."

mine are yellow. lol. a couple little purple spots here and there. :bongrip: i'll have a direct comparison to evaluate this statement.
