Wheelo's 3rd run - Attack of the Holy Shoots

here is the screen, i am waiting for my second tuck until they get tall enough to make it to the next hole.

***so 420fied, if you're out there, how long did you run them under your screen (starting at the first tuck) before you flipped 12/12, do you remember? what percentage of the screen was filled? i will try to search your thread but it's a monster.

and here is the wheel, these girls are getting larger by the day, it is definitely time to lst again, but i think i might move the bases around for better positioning for the next lst session. also im adding all of the rooted HS clones to get their placement down too. they're still a little wet, i foliar feed every day or two now that the dehumidifier is in there, and you can still see evidence of PH fluctuations.

Sweet man, you getting some great root development out of your clones, how long was it since the cutting was took till the photo, hopefuly i can mimic your results m8 :peace:

i took them on the 10th. honestly, I've been so busy, that was the first time i checked.

so 8 days.

also, I got 4 HS with roots out, so i put them in RW and I'm hardening them off to go in the wheel.

ok, so I LTS's them again, and took some pics

here are the 4 HS's hardening off.

I should have called this journal "TRAINING WHEELS".

great job cloning brother...

thanks bro, getting healthy roots it easy for me, keeping them healthy is harder.

can you get any pics of the wheel without the HPS on?

done bro.

hey i might just be high but i think a plant, your next grow or a new genectic you should call it VANNA WHITE maybe a WW X GWS just a high thought
BTW wow look at those roots man a cloning genious

lol, thats a great name. I'll file that away for later.:ganjamon:

Vegged/trained 9 plants for 5 weeks on a 4x5 screen before flipping to 12/12. After the flip I continued to train them for another 13 days and then let them go vertical. In retrospect, I should have trained them for the first 20-22 days of 12/12 and THEN let them go vertical. I cost myself on that one and next time I'll do better. Best of luck bro!

thanks man and yeah they do look a nice healthy green.

so all this is in one tent, how tall does the volks stand?
is it possible to get a shot looking in/at the tent?

sure, i broke my other camera lans so its hard to get it all in one shot, so this is an old one from just before my second turn, this was before i turned it 90* to help supplemental light the other side. I asked the manufacturer when i bought it, and they said you could easily trim the legs to shorten it to whatever height you want, but you still have to fit the res underneath

thanks bro, so what percentage of your screen was full when you flipped? and how long after they first hit the screen did it tak to get to that point?

good hunting bro.
:thankyou:

About 65- 70%. They hit the screen (screen was 14 inches over the plants) 20 days after popping roots. After they hit the screen I vegged/trained them for another 3 weeks or so before flipping to 12/12 making for a 5 week veg cycle.

Keep in mind that I only used 9 plants to fill a 4x5 screen. If I had went by the "1 plant per square foot" rule I'd have flipped them as soon as they hit the screen. Since I had 9 plants I had to veg a little longer in order to get the screen covered.

Best of luck.

thanks that helps alot. . . i am about ready to tuck a bunch of tops for the first time, i think pretty much every plant has hit the screen except maybe one.

I have 7 plants, and my screen is 32" x 42", so thats like 9 square feet. so basically i can flip whenever the wheel is ready to go, I am almost at 1 per sq. ft.

so now its just a waiting game to see how many cones take root over the next week or so, get the VG filled as much as I can and flip.

thanks bro,

thanks Mcbuds,

actually, i doubt they're going anywhere.

the RW cubes are made to fit in the green sleeve right? and do you see how the sleeve goes a 1/4 inch above the slot in the side that fits into the channel? well a single RW cube comes maybe 1/8 inch into the wheel to keep the cube in place. . . so with the RW hanging out of the side like that, i had to push down the RW on that part like 1/4". even after i did that they put pressure on the wheel. see the crack in between the cubes? thats from the pressure on the outside. but i left them full size in th middle so they are being held in from that ledge. . . on top of that they just barely touch both of the sides of the tent when they turn (prob not good, but can't avoid it) and dont touch anything else so i dont really see them going anywhere.

I really wish i could figure out a way to cover most of it somehow to keep the light out, but not affect feeding.

i don't know McB, i don't know what advice anyone can give me, i just can't seem to get a vigorous root system in RW. i hope the bacteria help. so far i am not impressed with the root sturcture this grow either. only one week into the AN nutes though, so i will stay hopeful.

I am a smart guy, i have good meters, calibrated, and i know what and what not to do. I don't know why this eludes me. its frustrating when i can do it so easily in dirt.

Wrap the big block in a 3 inch strip of black and white poly vinyl. The bottom will be exposed as to touch and absorb the nutrients.

Wish I could help more with the RW's I never really used them other than to start some seeds but dont any more as they seem to effect my pH too much.

thats a good idea, thanks. i think i might try it on one and see how easy it is to do well.

yeah, RW sucks. I wish they made 3" blocks out of the same material as grow plugs. i always have healthy roots in those plugs.

Wheelo,
Im getting ready to purchase a VG, feel like I have minded most of the details so far. One question I keep coming across...

Do you prep your 3" RW cubes before you transplant your clones, or does the pH balance out between the two mediums? I am planning on using Rapid Rooters, wondering if I'll need to pH adjust the RW.

Thanks for the help, I've really enjoyed reading all the info you guys have collected here on VG's.
