What's In Jim's Grow Room?

Here is Ultra Dog #1 on May 17th. These seeds broke ground April 18th I think.

and here she is today

She and the two inside were pollinated August 26th so these seeds will be 30 days in a very few days. Weather has been different this year although this is the only herb I've grown outside to anything close to full cycle.

It's chilly here in the mornings down to 50o F and I think it's expected to dip into the 40s soon. Certainly this one could go into October but these will probably come down soon. This one had the pollen literally dumped into the air so she is primarily a seed mom.

Ultra Dog #1

I thought I might be harvesting the Carnival and one of the other Ultra Dogs from the tent this morning yet they just aren't done. UD #6 is close but the tent girls are only 48 days under a flowering light schedule and even though I'm convinced an early barley malt tea speeds things up a few days, they just aren't ready.

The UD outdoor girl has been out there since May and was pollinated exactly 30 days ago. That's basically all I wanted her to do: just get a 30 day runway for the seeds. There isn't much to her but it's really what I expected from a 2 gallon pot and unknown potting soil. It's pretty stuff and I guess I expected a lot of damage within the flower but she was all good. I found only one bug in there...something like a pill bug.

In a few days I'll get to dig seeds and give what's left of the flower a test drive in a clean pipe. Terps here are mostly pine but I detect a little citrus and melon.

Shitz still happening:

I baked a pizza Wednesday which obviously heated up my kitchen but after I ate I noticed the whole house appeared a bit warm and then found my home thermostat dead. So off to Lowe's for a replacement and a couple hours later we were back in the cool. I turned the lamp off in the bloom tent while I was traveling, purchasing and installing.

In my pipe this morning was a sampler of Garlic Sherbert by IHG supplied by beez on the other side of the state. She's pretty sprite.

Congrats on the harvest
Truth be told I got a little paranoid having that plant in my back yard and she probably wasn't going to do much in that cheap soil. Every time I gave her a Budswel tea it would rain for several days in a row so I was pissing into the wind.

This morning I decided to check those shrinking colas. Lemon fuel is bright and I picked 8 beautiful mature seeds out and hung that one back in the barn. Some will know that feeling of satisfaction finding those seeds and knowing that more will be found. 2 actually just fell out without any prodding. :slide:

This Carnival and possibly the other two Ultra Dog phenos will need to be harvested. So tomorrow I'll take the Carn and UD #6. I know she's ugly and I hate that she burned a bit but that's just part of a summer grow.

Have a great day folks. Chem 91 x Aliendog Cherry for breakfast here.

Carnival

I was growing this one for a friend and although it probably hadn't reached its maximum potential it was chopped with all milky trichomes and only a few ambers on the top buds. It was probably a little early but I've experimented before on the early side and it certainly will avoid couch-lock and any sleepiness. I marked one area that might have received some accidental pollination. I'll investigate further after it dries a bit. She got all washed up with a diluted H2O2 and rinsed in cold water.

More of the Garlic Sherbert on my pipe this morning. I'm starting to like this strain bred by IHG.

I also took Ultra Dog #6 down this morning. She went 50 days and is done. Quickest finisher I've had in 5 years. She was more greasy than sticky but she was plenty sticky. She really didn't look like she had as many seeds as I had hoped for but we'll see how they look after a few days of drying in the barn.

I like harvesting, it's the trimming part I don't care for all that much. :laughtwo:

Haha  I like most of it but it always hurts my back whether I'm standing or sitting.

Here's basically what's left in the bloom tent. 2 ATF x Jellium phenotypes, the TK 91, the last Ultra Dog pheno and a Jellium that was added when the males were removed.

Drive-by

Pretty colors... But I've always been a sucker for the colors..

Just a little progress report. I took the Carnival down from the barn and its now just laying around in a 13 x 9 baking pan. Yep. That's because I'm lazy and wanted to wash my car, put the top down and cruise a bit. 70o F out there with clear skies. I'm not getting any younger so I try to enjoy my little pleasures.

Of course I wanted to sample the tester of the ATF x Jellium #3 (short phenotype) that I had hanging for about 4 days. This little branch had one small bud filled with 12 nice seeds. I culled 1 so it was 13 seeds in total. I deem that another success. I have to enjoy these little pleasures too. ;) The other 2 plants are still plugging away in the bloom tent so there will be more seeds.

I can't remember what her nose was like but since I hand chopped this for my bowl I can tell you it was sticky AF. The head is a sweet relaxed daytime high. It's very pleasant and creeps just a bit. My arms are tingling and my ears are ringing. It just tells me I'm more aware of my surroundings. There's no real knock out to it and a couple of hours in it's still going strong. This was probably taken on day 49 as I'm currently on flip + 53 days. The Jellium must add a little something to the pleasantness of the high as I've smoked an ATF bud and this is just a bit different in a good way.

Here's a tight shot of a Carnival nug. She reminds me of glistening snow.

I busted the seeded branches of the Ultra Dog #6 this morning and gathered all her seeds together. For some reason there were a bunch of immature half developed seeds which doesn't do much but interfere with the taste. The rest of the buds were collected and the lemon / pine terps remain prominent near the nose. That's really the only way I can smell as I smoked all those cigarettes for too many years.

Anyway...the terps comes through in the taste from my pipe and the burning product. I'll load my vape with this some time later today to really get an experience. Here's a pic of the seeds from this girl.

I only got a bit over 20 grams from the Carnival when all is said and done but she's a treat. This one smacked me silly and that's a good thing. I'll ship it out on Monday once I'm sure it's dry enough to be trapped for a few days.

Carnival Buds

Looking forward to a smoke repot on that Carnival

You do a good job with the Carnival. The buds always look really nice.

I got some interesting information about Ultra Dog today and it provides a fairly concise history so I'll just drop it here:

Around 2013 I met an old timer from Santa Clarita Valley on 420Mag. It's SoCal, it's a desert where RH goes to 0% during the day. Well since late 90's lem had been growing OG Kush, which he got from a guy called Ian, so he called it Ian's OG. This cut was then crossed to MK Ultra and then to Aurora Indica in 2002 to get the purpling effect. In the late 2013 he got a test batch of seeds from Soma (whom he'd known since 70's in Florida), who crossed Chemdawg '91 with his NYCD cut. From these seeds lem managed only to get a male and hes used it to pollinate a couple of his favourite clones and AU was one of them. He sent me like 12 or 14 seeds of UD, which I all popped in 2014 and I decided to make F2 on a whim. He also sent me S1 of this OG, AU and the cross of AU with Pure Kush (Hollywood cut)... and everything was top of the line, which is why I'm crying I don't have most of these seeds anymore

What I have is Ultra Dog (I came up with the name) and Honey Dog, the cross with Mendocino Grape Ape, which he got from someone who moved to SoCal from NorCal :) About UD though, it's a very strong, versatile plant that can take any heat you throw at her or cold for that matter, which is very particular, stays compact and finishes in 7-8 weeks indoor or first week of October on 45N. There are couple of expressions with the one I call Boom, that's often too much even for me. It's offensive, smells of gas fumes and fungus. You lose your mind when you smoke it, it's incapacitating. Then there's relaxing Chem with less THC, but which I like very much. And then there's the one which took after OG, so I call it OG. It's lanky and has strong lemon/piney smell that comes both through the vape and the joint... and then there's sativa branch with a few different chemotypes, but which I call bubblegum, cause these plants smell very fruity with a dash of chemical and have an uplifting, relaxing high
