What's In Jim's Grow Room?

I need to revisit one of those jars. She had the most interesting aroma. Similar to Pine-sol or bowling alley wax. The high was a little speedy and top of head. I might roll me a joint of that and test drive it again.

I used trimmings to make a bunch of hash and then I got a bug to buy a press and pressed all the hash into rosin. Great terpenes and quite a lovely high.

Yep...I'll get me a Panama green joint going here in a few.

Oh...almost forgot. The brownies I made was made with Panama. I can only do about 1/3 of a brownie. It is great in edibles.

Well....you've been having fun playing, haven't you? Has, a press, new rosin delights and brownies to boot. Geez Jim, why don't you live down th street from me? :battingeyelashes:

Enjoy the joint. I'm getting ready to drop the morning capsule and kickstart this wonderful day. :slide:

Have a great one Magical Man. :kisstwo:

Your plants look great! I need some tips from a more experienced person like yourself.

I "think" im having a problem. If a few of my plants are dropping what should I do?

Haha....and you turned to me? Well welcome anyway.

Actually, if they're up and green you have won most of the battle. I'm a big fan of soil with proper drainage and that would include your solo cups. Make sure you have some slits or holes in the bottom of solo cups. Soil should probably have 15 to 20% perlite.

Over watering is not necessarily too much water. It's usually watering too frequently. Plants in veg stage should have a wet and a dry cycle. If they are drooping and haven't been watered in a while you will see the leaves turn limp. If the whole plant looks droopy and you've consistently been watering it, it's probably being watered too frequently. Less is more in this case. The pH level of your water is important and of course I don't rule out plain ass bad water.

Make sure you have pots with good drainage. Use a good soil if available.

There are other variables such as adequate lights and ventilation. Temperature and RH are also very important. Cold floors could be an issue. If any of the above.

I'm really not good at diagnosing things unless I did it to my plants.

Have you been growing long? That last plant looked green and healthy to me. I'd sure have her in my tent.

Much appreciated! Yes, this is my first grow. Just a Hobby. I understand now that it's a learn as you go kind of thing. Exciting but also frustrating too. Lol

Harvest Day

I decided that a harvest today fit my schedule really well so I set about this morning to bring these girls down. A sprinkling of amber showed up yesterday so I'm comfortable here with ripe flowers.

I first harvested those plants which were not intentionally pollinated. Many of the bud sites had seeds so I'll have very little BD that will be fit to smoke. Then again, I'm not sure how the seed extraction will go so this stuff may never see a curing jar.

All pollination was complete 42 days ago so I feel pretty good about mature seeds although I did no digging. I had 2 seeds drop while trimming. I really didn't do a bunch of trimming. Mostly pulling fans with fingers.

This stuff is really heavy with all the seeds so I have no plans to weigh these buds. I've basically gotten away from weighing anyway.

Have a great day folks. I'm going to rest my back. Harvesting is tough work.

Nice Jim... gives me a sore back harvesting. Then I hope what I've harvested has some pain relief abilities for my sore back

I cleaned the 4x4 out and swapped lights. The older Mars Hydro needs some work done and at some point I'll open it up and fix it up with the new leds and such that Mars Hydro sent me while it was still in warranty.

I've only had 2 seeds germinate in the past couple weeks. I'm really excited to grow the Pakistan Valley. It's the first landrace indica that I've tried to grow and I'm truly amazed at the node length. It's like zero. Look at this

She has some bottom branches just ready to grab some space if I can get my finger nails in there and rip the top off. Look at those little branches just ready to explode. The cotyledons are spent and ready to fall off.

Blue Dream S1 Day 5

I plan to grow this out just to make sure that the seed plant is normal. Genetically she should be typical to the BD mom but I need to know.

My Blue Dream mom. I probably should take the top out of her and start the cloning process. Or I could fix that light and use the smaller tent as a grow space as I originally intended.

As someone who is doing almost exactly the same as you (and in the same time scale), it's been an especially interesting to follow your journal. Great work on the journal and lovely harvest Jim :goodjob:

You asked me to update you so here's me:

I harvested around 20 seeds yesterday from the SLH mother and they look good but I think I will leave her another 10-14 days until the calyxes have split and the seeds are visible. Give 'em an extra week or two to grow fatter/darker/stripier :)

Remember that I said I think I had pollenated the entire crop? Well, it seems I haven't exactly....
I separated one of the females, put in a different grow area to flower, and turned with Silver thiosulphate to produce pollen. I then moved another female in with the "male" and pollenated over the period of around 4-5 days. I trashed the male (carefully) and sprayed everything in the "breeding area" thoroughly with water to deactivate any pollen. I did this twice over two days and the pollenated female was moved back into the flower area with the other females. A week after this to my horror, I started to see (what I thought was) early signs of seed production on the other females; pistils turning red & swelling of seed pods - that was the first week of June. Three days ago I took a flower from each female and fast dried them to test. To my surprise (and delight), they were extremely strong and no seeds were visible at all! Again I took a few of what I thought were seed pods from each plant and checked - again no seeds. It's almost as though it were some type of phantom pregnancy - the appearance of seeds, but no seeds. So the regular females will be chopped tomorrow morning (Day 72 from 12/12).

I am not sure why this has happened (never seen it before) but I have two theories:
1) The females weren't pollenated at all but were suffering from very high temps (around 86-90 F). I see some foxtailing which is a result of heat...but could it be possible that the heat caused the swelling of "seed pods" when there were no seeds?

2) The females were pollenated, but in a half-assed sort of way. What do I mean? Well the pollenated mother was placed back with the others and she did have some seed pods which had been crushed over her to pollenate. Despite the fact that I thought I had deactivated any active pollen on her by spraying with water twice, maybe some of the crushed pods dried out and pollen got in that way? I would've expected the pollen to be deactivated and not be able to pollenate a flower after soaking with water....also I moved the mother back with the other females on 1st June so by now I would've thought there would be something inside those "seed pods" - there isn't. Although the pods from both the mother and the regular female look similar, check the seed pods in the mother SLH (pistils have completely disappeared/retracted where there are semi mature and mature seeds) - now see the "seed pods" in the SLH regular female. Although they have turned deep red, the pistils are still clearly visible and unretracted...but more to the point, when I open one of these swollen pods, there is no seed inside!

Finally, compare the trichome production of the Mother in the second photo with that of a regular female in the third and fourth photos. Trichome production in the females is MUCH better than in the mother (like a regular grow in fact) so I know they were not properly pollenated.

Bottom line is that they are fine and I panicked thinking I had seeded my entire sensi crop...so everything is O.K really, but can anyone shed some light on this "phantom pregnancy"?

I know nothing about it, but it occurs to me that the pollinated beauty was emitting a hormonal tone that set the rest of the girls off, in much the same way a household of women will all begin to menstrate on the same schedule.

Does that sound plausible to anyone else?

SLHLover....Thanks for the pics of seeds and buds. You did a fine job!

When I attempted to gather seeds, I had several calyxes that were filled with some type of plant material but no seed. I'm guessing a very immature seed.

I'm still fairly certain I have seeds in what should be sensi buds. Within a day of two I'll know for sure. :goodjob:

LMAO. I have certainly heard of this (and experienced it when sharing a house with a bunch of lasses when I was younger). Do you think if I wish hard enough it'll make it so? ;)
