This one here. I have a support beam in the basement that limits my height to 77.5" and most tents are 80" so a no-go there unless I take 3" off the bottom of the beam and I'm a little reluctant to do that. I could have got it for about $180 with a discount code but they have none in Canada so I'm probably going to just frame in a space down there and sheet it with panda film on the outside and clear plastic on the inside. 3/8" plywood is $100/sht and I'd need 5 of them. Already have the panda film, plastic and most of the lumber so a lot cheaper than either option.
3/4" x 4' x 8' foil backed foam insulation is $17/sheet...

Just saying ;)

Cheers

Growing pot is just like being a prisoner or farmer of animals.
Sigh....I love it too much not to though. Take them over a vacation I guess. It's more of a long term :meditate:
Can't get away too easy to do the other things we love. My wife has not been much help tending my plants when I'm away. She'll water them but nothing much beyond that. When I was working and away for weeks in the bush I've come back to everything wiped out by mites, total crop pollination by a rogue male and general chaos. Now if I want to go out to BC for a month I have to time things so there is little for her to do but water a few plants. I like to go in early October so we can go to the cabin on the Thanksgiving weekend to shut it down for the winter. My b-day is on the 14th
so is my dad's!
and the coho salmon run starts around the middle of the month too. Haven't fished up here for the last 3 or 4 years as I find pike pretty boring unless on the fly rod and even then they're nothing like coho on light tackle.
I know I want a dog and think then we will really never be able to get away. My cat will be fine with a neighbor checking in once a day but the girls or a dog, nope.....
Thing is she's an avid gardener during the summer.
Then this will be nothing for her, :ganjamon:;)
No house plants tho so she seems to shut that part off once her crops are in. 2500 garlic this year and I think she's planning more for next year. One lousy 40' row of peas tho and I love fresh peas and don't mind picking and shelling those. :)
Me either!

Wood prices are just insane right now
Aaaah yes...
You just take the plant out of the room, put a bag over the whole plant just leaving out the branch to be pollinated then dust all the buds on that branch with a little paint brush or Q-Tip. Leave it overnight then spray everything down with water to deactivate any stray pollen before removing the bag then put it back in the grow room.
Heard! Mental note! Seems easy but I have questions like down below here
To get the pollen you can just cut a branch or more off a male plant and set them up in a glass of water in a closet somewhere away from the plants with some tinfoil under the branches to collect the pollen on and one or two 9W 2700K bulbs on a 12/12 timer overhead.
Ok I'm getting it...I think....
Right now I have 3 small autos in the grow room with 3 vegging pink kush plants. One of the autos got sprayed with STS to produce male flowers and the other two have been totally pollinated now while I take the donor plant upstairs to pick the open 'nanners off and dry well to save for later if I need it.
so how doesn't the rest of the plant pollinate and just the branch, I heard pollen spreads like crazy and i could I guess risk some getting somewhere else? For instance, I originally thought once one part was hit, that was it for the rest? Or are you safe before they pop? Is that how it goes? I am not read up much on it at all, shame on me
I have seeds popping out already and they got their first dusting on Aug. 28. Some on the donor plant for some S2 seeds as well. The others will be F2s.
Is this quick? Sorry for my naivety.
I've been parking the donor in front of the two recipients since first pollinating them so any missed flowers get a dose.

If you look close you can find some lime-green seeds busting out already and it's only been 5 days since the initial pollination. They could have got a bit of pollen a few days before that and that's what I think happened. Just too soon for full-sized beans to be showing. They aren't ripe yet tho.

What a beautifully formed bud! I do see what you're talking about, the whole seed process just scares me! I would need practice for sure
You sure do a great job with your plants! That tent full of colas looks pretty tasty indeed. :)

:peace:
You found my big girls huh?

They're my other loves right now...don't tell these ones though!

Thanks Chuck cause this is the area I call TK for things. Not my forte. I hope that helps Med! :thanks:

And to @Bode, don't hate me but somehow I missed you when I started this! I hope we are still friends, I missed @Sobergrower too but he managed to find his way over to let me know!

I've looked into stuff like that and it's not $17 a sheet up here in northern Bumf**k, Alberta I'll tell you what. I just need something to keep the cold away when I work on the plants so plastic walls will work well enough and I already have everything for that. Like everything else here it's just up to me to get off my butt and git 'er done but I haven't been feeling too energetic these days so the job jar has become a job bucket. :(

I'd be putting up a sheet of plastic to keep the cold out if I did have a tent I could put in there so the cold wouldn't get them while I have the tent open anyways so one more sheet will do everything and I'll hang some panda film curtains to section it off at 4x8.5'. Bought a 100' roll of that damn panda film so got to use it up somewhere! :D

Sorry to hear that, sigh..

This is the product . It did take some searching to find it, the blue stuff is twice that cost ;)

And this new stock does not have a reflective surface but I hear you know a guy, he, he...

The reason I suggested this option is because there is no framing/stapling on plastic/ etc. Cut to fit and wedge in place.

Good luck getting it done !

With a bag over most of the plant the pollen can't get to the other flowers. If a small plant a bread bag will do. Or make some clones off a plant you want to make seeds with and do everything with clones in a closet somewhere.

Males can be kept as father plants too. When I'm growing regular plants I'll take the tops off above the 4th node and root the tops. Either put the cuttings under 12/12 light to force sex or flower the donor plants to determine sex then cull the males or pick one or two with the smells and characteristics I like and flower them to get pollen. With a father plant you can take cuttings while it vegs then flower the resulting clones for pollen and keep the dad vegging.

Everything I've been working with lately are either from fem seeds or cuttings that are female so to make seeds I have to use STS to get fem pollen from one to use on the others. I'm wanting to sprout some regs soon so will just make regular seeds with boys and girls then move on to fem seeds later if they are worth keeping. My judgement of what's worth keeping relates to it's medicinal worth to me. If it doesn't help keep my boat afloat then it's off to the next strain. I wish we would have had grey-market dispensaries up here like they had in BC. So much easier to go buy a gram each of a dozen strains then find the seeds to grow the strains you like best. That's how I got turned on to strains with decent CBD levels and how they worked for my arthritis and depression. Fixed the depression with 'shrooms but the joint pain just keeps getting worse. Might not be arthritis but MS. Waiting on a head MRI to see what's up with that.

Got lots of interesting strains to work with and who knows how much time to get it done. Gotta have hobbies tho and it's been my fave for the last 20+ years.

Is this quick? Sorry for my naivety.
Seeds usually don't start splitting the calyxes until they are getting close to being ripe. It's what you tend to look for when trying to figure out when they're ready. Seeing them after less than a week is odd so that's why I think a couple of the early 'nanners on the donor may have dropped a little pollen before I started picking them off a few days before I did the first deliberate pollination. At least I know it's viable pollen which is not always the case.

What a beautifully formed bud! I do see what you're talking about, the whole seed process just scares me! I would need practice for sure

Thanks. It does look like it will make some nice babies. Sky diving and bungie jumping is scary until you do it then it gets real scary! ;)

Dusting a branch doesn't seem to hurt yields or potency but if a lot of the flowers get hit it will impact those things. I've been pollen chucking for 20 years but it's just the last year or so that I'm trying to get into the fem seeds and working a strain/cross into something I really like and can get stable enough to count on.

Gotta keep things interesting!

How about storing the pollen and how careful do I have to be with when and where I open up the pollen container

As thorough as you have been with me. I'm still going to be coming to you for questions when I attempt this whenever I do

what is a grey market dispensary??

My two main issues-arthritis and depression
Fixed the depression with 'shrooms but the joint pain just keeps getting worse. Might not be arthritis but MS. Waiting on a head MRI to see what's up with that.
Ironically enough, I've got some type of MS symptoms including some numbing and tingling and fog brain. They just found osteophytes on my cervical spine via Xray that could be a sign of degeneration which I have arthritis and thy were thinking osteoarthritis or degenerative osteoarthritis but with all the other symptoms could be anything from punched nerves to disc issues to MS. Hoping not thr latter. In PT now before insurance will grant the MRai

I wanted to go for my 40th this year and didn't but this year coming, I'm going for it! TK won't come with me so I guess it's me and a tandem jumping buddy

DAY 15 ABOVE GROUND

All very much liked their first true feed and watering.

Don't mind my dirty monitor-probably the only dirty thing I have in my whole house...I'll get to that today.

Little hot in there this morning. Bringing that temp down to 79/80 right now with the AC.

This unit seems to hold at 5 degrees warmer with lights on than the rest of the room. Comparatively, the FC4800 when running at 100%, rises temps about 7 degrees from that of the grow room.

PPFD now at 350. The @Mars Hydro SP3000 is set at 26in above the canopy @ around 80% on the dimmer.

Hi friends! Each of the girls got about a red solo cup and a 1/2 of water with 2ml of Silica this morning as we are having yet another heat wave here in NJ and it was hot the last couple days and at 24-0, we have no time to cool off. Girls seem tolerant of the higher temps, even though when I walked in this morning it was 87 in there! Yikes!

20220904_111324.jpg

Kind of busy today and I'll be out of the loop most of the day tomorrow helping my sister move but I wanted to drop off some pics of the girls at DAY 16.

20220904_111237.jpg

Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday, we will be going to MILS in a little while for a BBQ!

Krissi, these girls are looking great. Even with the higher temps. I hope you have a great day out and about and some good BBQ!
Thanks bud. They are flying right now. Pleased with them of course just need to curb this heat, come on already fall weather! I'm not too concerned as the temps will drop soon and I can just keep the tent open a little for now until it does....just something for me to always worry about though. Now bugs can get in there was my thought this morning.

Heading out in a little bit to the BBQ have to run and grab some pastries cause I'm Italian and when someone says bring dessert I think cannolis and sfogliatelles

DAY 17 IS COMPARISON DAY!

Just looking back at the current flowering girls in my Kannabia Run at DAY 17. Their @DYNOMYCO, WAS ADDED ONLY AFTER UP-POT to their 3GL homes and not in the initial transplant like in this grow.

We can clearly see at this time frame of 17 days, just how much fuller these now veggers are using @DYNOMYCO upon initial transplant to their 5.5in pots.

20220905_151405.jpg

It's honestly been a really rough couple of days for me on my life front so seeing these girls doing so well is just really helping me manage through it all today.

I was going to increase PPFD again today but they seem to be really happy where they are at, so I'll let them ride until they show me they may want some more.

Happy growing guys and gals and remember to breathe some days. I know I need someone to remind me to do the same every now and then.

Hi friends.

It's DAY 18

20220906_091542.jpg

It has been 4 days since their first true feed. Later today they will receive their 2nd which will be a mix of 2ml silica h2o and weeks 1/2 veg nutes.

This stage is always trial and error for me when I run both autos and photos. Autos are ramping up and need the juice but not a lot and the photos are just starting off but need enough juice to get them going on the right foot this early on in development.

20220906_091441.jpg

Their pots are relatively light this morning. By this evening, I know they will be at the point I like to give em something.

Standing strong here are the girls and some fun top pics cause their coloring is just really fun to look at. Lovely green hues.

Happy growing and smoking!

Your plants look so green and healthy unlike my teenager plants. lol

What kind of silica are you using? Is it a concentrate (Do you have to dilute it?)? How are you adding it?

Hey girl! Thank you so much!!
What do you have going now HG?
What kind of silica are you using? Is it a concentrate (Do you have to dilute it?)? How are you adding it?
I was using Bloom City but needed 7ml-10ml p gl so i switched over this run to TPS liquid silica. Just add it to a water pH of 7 for it to activate. It needs only 2ml to 5 ml throughout the duration of our plants lives, which helps me use less pH down as it elevates the number.

Girls seem to really like it and the older girls had a fine transition over to using it last couple weeks.

Happen to be filling jugs this morning.

It happens! No biggie, these are resilient plants and you are a great grower!

Highya Krissi,

Sorry about late to the party. Got the invite a couple hours ago. I'm going back to the beginning, then will post again when I get caught up. Thanks for the invite. Happy Smokin'

Idk how your name wasn't on the initial tag list. Happened to a few people I've come to realize. I did tag you in it somewhere in the middle of it when I realized I shafted you! I'm so sorry Bode!

Morning friends on DAY 19!

20220907_104334.jpg

As noted yesterday, last night these girls received their 2nd feed. It was a 2:1 mix of @Prescription Blend Weeks 1/2 Veg with 2ml p/gl Silica water.

20220907_101804.jpg

Next water they will be on 3ml of silica before tapping out at the highest dosage of 4-5ml p/gl come end of veg and into flower.

They are all super healthy and super happy!

Been rainy here finally but it's kept humidity up in the grow room, been running both the AC and Dehumidifer last couple of days even though it's been a little cooler out, it's sticky as heck here.

That's all for now! Happy growing!
