What Obstacle Is My Plant Facing?

:goodjob:
very good observation, and yes, let them all go at their own individual rate. Keep good records on a calendar so you know exactly where in each wet/dry cycle each plant is. You will soon be able to spot a plant that is thriving vs one that is just getting by or that is trying to catch up with the rest of the room.

A calendar sounds like a great idea!! Is there a reason why the one plant’s soil is taking longer to dry out? She is a little bit smaller than the other one.

I wanted to also ask one more thing! So, since I was going off thinking my light was giving off 300watts, I was keeping it at a distance of about 20-24 inches, but since I found out it is actually 130watts, should I be keeping them closer to the light?

all of these newfangled lights are different, but I would imagine you can get quite a bit closer. Move it a few inches and wait 3 or 4 hours to see if the plants are reacting.

Lets change your mindset on this... the soil does not dry out by itself, the plants use the water. If one is taking longer than the others, its roots are not as strong... So of course a smaller plant is going to take longer to suck up that water than a big one.

No bother... I am happy to be able to help so many people.
I would wait another 12 hours and check again... once you are down in that last inch it will never show dry due to capillary action between the roots and the sides of the container, so once it is down there, it is time to water. Good job!

I bet the plant is already looking better?

Hey Emilya!

Hope your weekend has been swell! Just a quick update on the plants! I did some more LST on the different branches and make it more “bushy” and it has been really great and they have really bounced back since getting them on a proper watering cycle, so thanks! One question, pertaining to the branches. I notice some darkness in areas and I’m unsure as to what it is and if I should act on it. I am posting some photos of what they look like and one of the branch like I described. I’d appreciate help if you’re able to share more knowledge? Thanks so much!

(I know, my pictures aren’t the best lighting [taken in my Grow closet] I snagged quick photos before bed. I’ll take better ones in the morn :)

Hey Emilya!
So I am going on my third watering since your helpful watering tips! Do you think it’d be safe to use my foxfarm fertilizers this time around or do you think I should I still hold off on fertilizers??

Definitely use them... and now follow their recommendation of water/nutes/water/nutes and follow that all the way through the rest of the grow.
Lookin' much better aren't they?

Awesome!! Yeah, they’re looking both pretty great! My other plant has some yellowish marks on some of its fan leaves, (which I’m hoping it’s next drink with fertilizers will help that) but besides that, they’re great! I was wondering, I’ve been actively trimming the big fan leaves on my plants, mainly to allow more light to other areas. Should I stop doing this at some point, or could I continue trimming the fan leaves? Pictured is the one I most recently watered

any of those bottom shoots that have at least 3 nodes are easily cloned. You can use them at any time, even after you have gone into flower, but it is a lot harder at that point and not recommended. Glad everyone is responding the adaptations!

Hey emilya!

So the branches I cut to clone had been in the humidity dome for about 14 days and I noticed roots, so I took them out and put them under the light, and they’ve been out of the dome for 2 full days now. I can’t tell if they are growing or what the next step I should take would be. Should I cut off the dead leaves? I posted pictures below. Any advice? Thanks so much!

i would partially water them, just a bit, every day for 3 days and then I would soak the container and wait for the plants to drain it before ever watering again. Clones are pretty tough... and they get with the program quickly.

Hey Emilya!

So the one plant I started the post about (we call her Martha), I fed her on Friday (with the recommended amount of fertilizer from the foxfarm schedule) and she is clawing again, mainly on the big fan leaves though, not so much the whole plant. Do you think this is a sign that I should hold off on fertilizing them some more? Thanks!

Hey Emilya! I hope all has been well! My plants have been in flower for 2 weeks, and things have been challenging but great! I had a problem with humidity, since I live in a very humid region. What finally ended up helping is a 30pt dehumidifier haha. So that has gotten the humidity down to 40%, but now, I’ve realized that the moisture levels are different than in the past. And I thought it could be because of more dark time, allowing more time for the roots to suck up the water? But I also noticed it since I put the dehumidifier in the closet with them. But I watered the plants yesterday afternoon, and already they both are very dry. One I could give another 12 hours, but the other is dry all over and seems ready for another watering. Is it normal to water every day whilst in the flowering period? If so, should I not feed every other watering, and just stick to twice a week? Thanks for your insight, I look forward to hearing about what you think!

Hi DramaMonkey1,
Seems odd that you have to water your plants every day at only 2 weeks into flower. Sounds like you are rootbound. Any new photos to offer? What size pots are you in now? I take it you are following Emilya's watering technique as you should? Pots are dry at the bottom and very light, not just the first few inches?
