Hi Buckshot

As you can see...a bit of everything.....even a grow Journal thrown in for fun.:circle-of-love: Join us when you can!:surf:

A couple of things.
1. Makeup is stupid and preys on women and men.

2.
Same goes for when there is a sticky film holding cotlydons together, it can be carefully removed if wetted first, though misting it might give the plant ability to do it on its own, too.
:goodluck:

I've had this a couple of times, and it can be removed just like X explains, and removing it DOES solve the sticky problem, but BE CAREFUL!

What about us normal guys? With the exception of xlr8, of course! :cheesygrinsmiley:

LoL!!! Yes..Guys like X get all the chicks. Cat Walk Chick Magnates!!!

Normal guys are screwed. Best to start dying your gray chest hair and start walkin!!!

its kind of like what Rodney Dangerfield said"I whent to a fight last night and a hockey game broke out":)

Wonder if they have a place for a skinny legged great grandpa with a silver Beatles haircut cut from the sixties? :peace:

They shake by themselves...easily done!:hugs::scratchinghead:

I like your answer. One question though. Don't you think that even though it might slow growth initially that the extra light overall makes up for the difference in more growth to the plant? I always notice a difference within about 3 days after defolating.

Been on both sides good girls and bad girls. Thank God I had the sense to be with a good girl. I think I am the Jo in my wifes relationship sometimes!! I can get downright wacky! Try to keep it fun though.

I like your reply! ;)

Well.. I dont really know, when you pull the fans off the central stalk... The nearby nodes will have shorter spacing i think. By that i mean the side branching... In flower the extra exposure probably helps with robustness.. If thats a word. Ive sometimes eliminated parts of fan leaves, trying to reach a medium between the stress of removal or giving extra light exposure.. Idk :)

That usually resulted in removal of the fan leaf for becoming icky looking in a few days.. Its weird to think for how many.. Thousands of years cannabis has been cultivated... Yet we know so little! Good times! :)

I think robustness is a great word!! I think if you let light in from removing the central stalk small fan leaves. You get more bud developement in the middle of the branches. Yet, some people don't seem to remove any leaves at all and have big bushes.

You are so right. So little we know. My problem is the more I think I know the more complicated I make it!! Good Times!!! :high-five:

Well, you asked for it! Here it is from the man himself! Xlr8

How I germinate seeds:

I really like Rapid Rooter plugs. I've been germinating seeds in them since I started growing, and now use them for cloning, too. They're great as they can be used to germinate for soil or hydro, and easy to use. They contain important micronutrients and beneficial organisms to stimulate rapid root development. They have a really nice balance between moisture retention and airiness.

Here's my process:

I soak seeds for a few hours in a glass of RO water. The Rapid Rooter is soaked overnight in a glass of RO water.

Making sure my hands are clean and sterile, I shake the excess moisture out of the rapid rooter, or give it a gentle squeeze. Basically, you want them to be "moist" but not soaked/saturated.

I take a sterile tweezers, squeeze it together, and I stick it into the hole of the rapid rooter while I gently twist it around some. I've had better luck if I deepen the hole slightly, and loosen it up a little inside the rooter plug. You could also use a pen, etc. Basically, just loosen it up and make it about a 1/4" deeper than they come from the factory.

I use a clean pen cap as a tool to scoop the seed from the cup of water, and place it into the rooter. I used to do the "paper towel" method of "pre-germinating" seeds, but it is better to plant them directly in the rapid rooter (or whatever medium you use). You will have better success, and quicker development if you skip the whole paper towel thing, in my experience. When putting it into the rooter plug, I put it in pointy end up (hinged end down). Positioning it this way will allow the taproot to make the turn it needs to, and will put the seed in a better position to succeed and remove it's "helmet".

I place the seed about half way down into the rooter (again pointy end up) and then I tear a small piece of rooter plug to cover the hole on the rooter. It should not be "jammed" in there, but placed in somewhat loosely. The hole should be fully covered to not allow light in.

I place the plug in a humidity dome, under t5's. I don't use a seedling heat mat (only for clones and not directly under). I mist the dome periodically, but high RH isn't needed to germ seeds. The rooters shoudn't be allowed to fully dry, and should be moistened periodically with plain RO water.
Pre-soak seeds in glass for a few hours
Pre-soak rooter plug 12-24 hours (probably doesn't need to be that long)
Use RO water from store - do not PH balance it
Shake/squeeze out excess moisture in the rooter
Use a tweezers or pen to loosen up the hole, and make it slightly deeper.
Position seed in the rooter plug, pointy end up
Cover the hole on the rapid rooter plug by tearing a small piece of the plug, and loosely covering the hole.
Place rapid rooter, with seed in it, inside humidity dome, under flourescent lights (I use T5's).
Rooter plugs should be moistened with plain RO water periodically, but only moistened
Heat mat is not needed - and it can dry the rooter plug too fast. Humidity only needs to be around 50%. I just mist the humidity dome periodically.
No nutrients are needed with seedlings until the 3rd set of true leaves.
I transplant when roots are showing through the bottom and sides of rooter plugs

I've had 100% success over the last year or so this way. There are lots of ways to do it successfully, this is just mine. X

Worked for me! 6 out of six popped up!. :thumb:

actually i was trying to find out what was going on with budley when i asked that lol

how are you germinating your seeds?
doing it in soil? papertowel? rockwool? or one of those i forget the name lol
lights? type? how far? and any other detail i might be forgetting to ask? lol

Sorry for the late reply, we have been dealing with government all week, or hoop jumping as I like to call it.

I germ in plain soil with approx. 50% Perlite after a 24 hour soak in a shot glass with some RO water, and only give plain RO water for the first two weeks, no ferts.

So far my experience is that bought seed is far more particular than bag seed, but then I guess these are pruebreeds kind of.

Sorry...what I posted was a bit of a over kill :laughtwo:

A friend of mine did it the way you are and had great success. I did the paper towel thing for years and had good success. I think more than anything, it's creating the right conditions for success.

You maybe right about the new seeds being cantankerous. It's only in the past 6 months that I've had problems.
:high-five:

Too bad your dealing with the Government. The pres went nuts again today! :smokin2::smokin2::smokin2::smokin2:

As for removing leaves early.

Funny story... I had a plant that I was giving lots of attention to many years ago. It was my only plant and I loved it so. I was really young at this growing thing, so I was removing leaves as soon as I thought the new growth was providing enough photosynthesis. I smiled as it flowered and became covered in pistils. I finally chopped it and cremated the corps. I was sad to see it go. It was such a cute plant. Twelve inches tall and not a leaf over one inch long. I had made a true Bonsai Weed.

So moral of the story is, leave a few BIG leaves. Otherwise the plant will quit producing them.
