WEEGrow Veg Room By Bill284

It was a bad night and even worse this morning.
Insurance company informed us the policy has been canceled.
The term they used is they are getting off risk.
What ever that means.
No one will answer phone or call us back.
I don't imagine that is a good sign.
I'm doing my best to stay positive trying my hardest.
My poor wife i can't put it in words.
Ahh shit buddy. I'm sorry. I've been waiting and hoping that you would have some good news today.

Did they cancel it retroactively? It may just means that they no longer want to insure you.
I did some reading into "off risk" and it basically means that they don't want to continue Insurance with what they deem to be current risks. It can be done retroactively- but they would tell you if that was the case.

Don't loose hope, but sadly you will have a new thing on your list. Shopping for insurance on the house

Hopefully your lawyer is just waiting to hear back from them, then can explain to you what's going on, and what your options are.

The fact is the house was covered under the policy at the time.

Lots of times if insurers are going to do a big payout- they want to no longer do business with you. They'll happily take your money, but will walk after they have to do a payout.

I'll continue to hold out hope for you Bill.
The battle is far from over.

All they would say is they are getting off risk and we have been sent a registered letter.
No one has returned the calls we left to inquire on what this means.
I'm still trying to stay positive really really trying.
I'll let you know if I hear anything
Thank you so much.
I really appreciate it

Dunno the legal stuff Bill, but you were insured at the time and that's that, no argument to be had there
Insurers will argue about the colour of shite, but if it's there, the bottom line is that it's their job is to clean it up
Grit your teeth and stand firm my friend

Sounds good my friend. They most likely know you have a lawyer (or are getting one) and will limit any discussions to papers that have been vetted by their lawyers. It's not uncommon, don't take it to heart.

I hope so , fingers and toes crossed , Hope your keeping well Rexer .

Also, if insurance company knows you have a Lawyer they may cut you off and only want communications to go through him.
One day at a time... Hang in there...

Thank you all so much.
I'm going to keep fighting.
"Once more into the fray
Into the last good fight ill ever know" or something like that.
I'm keeping up hope I'm never going to quit.
I had a long chat with one of our wonderful members this morning who managed to pull me back from the abyss.
Thanks J your a good man. :green_heart:
I'm going to stay positive at all cost.
Thank you all so so much.
You have given me light at the tunnel.
Hope is never lost.
I'm just going to say everything will be fine and I'll do my best to make it right.
What ever it takes I owe to Stacey.
Thank you.
Bill & Stacey.

I use to work for a fire/safety company (fire extinguishers, suppression systems, etc).

Insurance companies will find any reason--use any excuse--to not pay. I remember a restaurant that had a kitchen fire. The insurance inspector learned that the ductwork hadn't been steam cleaned in six months (it was required to be done every three... at a minimum).

The ductwork had nothing with the fire; it was at the other end of the kitchen. Insurance didn't pay for this reason.

Donation made.

I hope so , fingers and toes crossed , Hope your keeping well Rexer .
Thanks Nutty! I've been keeping well, the move has had a dramatic improvement on my life and health for the better. It feels like forever ago I was at desolation's front door, not mere months. I've also been following you around still and love your garden (as always) and couldn't be happier for you, and what you've accomplished. Sending green love across the seas brother.

Oh brother bill I’m so glad your a fighter because I figured as much from the DBAGs.
However it is just the first of many moves in a game of chess. Unfortunately there is no second counter to speed things up.
In my limited experience having to deal with them it’s like watching cold molasses go through a hr glass.

This is classic play out of their manual the receive on day 1.
It’s on page 1 paragraph 1 on how to screw people in their time of need.

Stay strong brother and if you look closely you will see all your friends and family as well as your 420 family in your corner standing behind you my friend.
Brace yourself for a emotional roller coaster ride if your not on one already but know your corner is full of people who love ya brother and will pick you up if you fall.
Never raise the white flag brother I’m just a phone call away.

Lots of love always to you and the family my friend.
B safe

Wow that bites, but just like Rexer said the house was insured at the time of the fire. Don’t call them anymore it’s best not to speak to them anyway. Maybe have your attorney send them a registered letter letting them know that he will be representing you and how your losses are significant since you are unable to live in your former home and you have a stack of receipts for hotel bills meals out etc. Ask the attorney if you should send a check for the deductible and tell then it’s a total loss or whatever applies. And lastly do not - I repeat….. do not sign a damn thing unless advised by your attorney

If your insurance company doesn't want to talk to you, accept it; it's the norm.

If, after you get a lawyer, they say they want to talk to you, tell them to go fuck themselves. They can talk to your lawyer.

Also, if insurance company knows you have a Lawyer they may cut you off and only want communications to go through him.
One day at a time... Hang in there...
how is this a bad thing?

The insurance will pay Bill.
Years ago my insurance was canceled due to someone getting hurt on my skateboarding ramp. They used the " at risk" excuse as well.
But...
They still had to pay the claim
This nightmare will end
Best to you and your wife.

Same insurance company since 1998.
Different houses but same insurance company.
First claim ever.
Never late once with a payment.
Lawyer is dealing with it now.
Still have all my fingers and toes crossed.
I'm not going to pull the chute until I get across the finish line.
Or get run over trying.
I'm still hoping to hear something positive from @OfficialWEEGrow .
Need more finger to cross.

Good morning sunshine. That’s the shit right there. Gloves up and chin down and get ready for 12+ rounds brother.
I’m leaving early tomorrow morning but if possible maybe I can meet you somewhere so I can drop you off a few things to help you through.
I will contact you tonight when I have details.

play safe my friend

All good my friend.
I just realized this is a long weekend.
