Love the on topic cherries ;) nice touch: Cherry Carnival?

I sometimes wonder if wine made like that would give me the allergic reaction all alcohol seems too. It’s not just wine, so I know it’s not just the preservatives this country adds to everything... I’ve had it with whisky too, and vodka, and everything else I tried till my doctor begged me to stop ‘testing’.

Just sometimes when I see things like this, and the wine you showed a glass of a few weeks ago, really makes me want to try it. It looks and sounds sooo nice.

Yeah I thought that too Tead! We have a really nice wood guy, I wonder... chances are he grows it himself if he’s a toker. He lives in the bush halfway up a north facing mountain...

Have fun with the cherry wine!

Thanks Amy. No preservatives, but sadly I think you’d probably still find the same allergies. But- on the bright side- you’re living proof that well balanced human beings can somehow survive without drinking alcohol. Who would have thought it even possible? (Jk :))

It's SO gratifying to hear other respected growers praise Carnival! I found it a few years ago, and fell in love with the long strong buzz and the lack of crash. :slide: I turned SweetSue onto it and she spread the word, and now it's been percolating down to others. As her BIL called it - "the good stuff". Something about it keeps me coming back. I compare other strains to it. In 10 days I'll have my first taste in well over a year. The genetics are a mystery, but the results are special. Have you seen Neiko's lab test results?

Carnival Lab Test Results

The only oddities I see are the high CBG, and the very high Beta-Ocimene terps.

Seen them now. Thanks.
And I think I looked at them once in the past too, courtesy of Sue. I’m not enough of a lab test junkie to know what I’m looking at, at all.
But based on the past few days the high seems sort of unique. I can’t put my finger on it... Not the same psychedelic glow that the Malawi had, but some other variety of special glow that is a little different from anything else I’ve smoked.
:thumb:
It’s got a bright lime green colour, very crystally- and a strong lime-ish smell. For the last few days I’ve been reaching for more, a lot.

Because Tead mentioned it a while back, I think I will continue to try to slip in the odd non-420 harvest pic over the summer when I get the chance. Probably I’ll end this journal next winter. Why not squeeze in a few shots of real life here while the harvest season is on...
I do enjoy those little Tead-view glimpses of New Orleans, and especially the local food culture.
Nothing much to do with this post but the t shirt reminded me.

More harvests. Running around like a rabid weasel harvesting things these days. Spent all yesterday back in the same cherry tree as the first time, and got another ten gallons- beautifully ripe and black now. And a couple gallons of pie cherries from a friend’s tree before I decided I was sick of treetops, and cherries. Bumped into a friend who gave me three spring salmon including a white spring which is my favourite.
 I’m smoking the smaller two once they’re done brining, and giving away and eating fresh as much of the white one as I can.
As it happened, I had brought a bunch of bud for him. So they were just random gifts as opposed to a trade.
Also I have a gallon each of black currant, red currant, and thimbleberry wine started yesterday from berries in the garden, and I’ve been given free rein in a friend’s giant raspberry patch which is about to kick in, in a major way, if it hasn’t already. Also that little CM2 plant, and more damage control in the sativa forest, but I hope that can wait a few more days.

Hope everyone’s well :passitleft:

Oh yeah I had a bunch of cardboard in back I was going to use for garden mulch and whatnot. He had a good go at the pile on his various trips through the greenhouse, in which he just ‘walked’ the doors open. Bears love chewing on containers and random plastic things. Really annoying having just that one tooth-hole 1/4 of the way up a bucket :).

I've often heard Alaskans point out that they're welcome amongst all the other critters as long as they can hack it. The other critters still gonna be there when the humans leave. It's the humans' choice. :bongrip:

[Edit] I was just reminded of Michener's book "Alaska", about the first explorations, the gold rush, humping gear over impossible mountain passes in the Yukon, etc. Anyone else read it?
Read it a long time ago. It was fascinating at the time. I might go back and read it again.

hehehe...spent a couple seasons gold mining just out side Dawson City(Hunker Creek), and can attest to the bear problems...had a black bear rug for a while...lost it over the subsequent years. as well as my Sour Toe Cocktail certificate...some fond memories of Northern BC as well...driving to Prince Rupert and taking a belly plane to Masset QC to pick shrooms...that was a great trip!!...Aaahhh...good times....cheerz...h00k...:rollit::passitleft:

That’s really cool Dr Hook, I had no idea. Definitely all places within my stomping grounds. I was a kid when they started the dead toe cocktail tradition, and last I lived close to Dawson I was still too young to partake of that delicious treat.
Ever coming back up this way? - then PM me, of course. I even can tell you where there are a couple jars of bud and cob stashed near one of the airports up here. :)

...not sure if I'll get back up that way...would be kewl to do tho'...lots of places I would like to share with the Missus(Liard River Hot Springs is a fond memory...walking in, early Spring, with a whack of snow, steam rising, was a magical moment)...almost bought a cabin on a lake just outside of Whitehorse, but thought a quick trip home was in order before I pulled the trigger...quick trip turned into a 35 year commitment, that's still going strong...If I get up that way...will definitely look Ya' up...cheerz...h00k...:rollit::passitleft:

Man, you guys need more sunlight!

So true. Not shining inside the bar though, that would be a truly horrible thing.
We do sometimes get more than our share in summer. I remember being a kid and running around with my friends in Whitehorse at all hours. 2 am and the place would be hopping- people and kids everywhere.
Winter... well that’s another story.

i have yet in my life to taste a decent home made wine

I’ll fix that for you sometime next winter when I get a chance to put a box together.

unny about the little staches you have hidden around b.c.,,

I get a kick out of thinking of all the stuff stashed along borders. I’ve stashed more than my share around the world.

~Chocolate Mint OG~

Harvested CM2 this eve. She turned out pretty decent. Frosty... looks just like the sort of bud I don’t like to smoke but everyone else does.

~Ethiopian~

I’m actually starting to feel fond of this one.
Her tip is starting to turn into a large spearpoint of fluffy fluffy. Looks like it might get heavy later on. The lower branches - I don’t have the heart to cut them off, even though they don’t get to see much light.

Ha ha. Makes me worried just looking at it. Not for me, my eye is on the Ethiopian.

Speaking of which, I forgot to answer this
i am curious about yer eye,, and how it is recovering

Just in hospital waiting room right now as it happens. The eye steadily gets more blurry from the cataract, but that hasn’t been bothering me. I’ll go for more surgery probably in the next half a year, and then if all goes well with that I should be back to normal- which I’m sure will feel amazing after living in this fuzzy world for so long.
