Ha- got it fixed. (Again). :thumb:
My yagi antenna had a hairline crack right through part of it that I hadn’t noticed. I guess that explains why service was so intermittent and had a habit of being temporarily ‘fixed’ after each time I climbed the tree, only to crap out again later. That antenna has been through hell.
Now that it’s soldered back together it seems like I’m awash in radio waves and even have a little service in funky new out-of-the-way spots like the shop, etc.
I don’t know how much I’ll really be on - but at least it’s possible for now, till it breaks again.

Would it help to cover the entire antenna in some sort of plastic shroud?

It has one. It’s a rather delicate array mounted inside a hard plastic cone that looks like a huge bird beak. Its pole snapped in a storm last winter and it spent a day getting battered around up there, which apparently it didn’t like.

Couple Aussie critters for ya weasel...

The obligatory heartfelt guilty thanks again to you guys for occasionally sticking your noses into the smoking ruin of this journal.

My cell tower is still working amazingly well and I enjoy levels of communication that most people could have only dreamed of 25 years ago. Most people would need a time machine to get what I have now!

I wish I had more to report with the plants. They’ve been on life support and not much beyond that, for quite some time now.
One of the two GTs I started (a few months) back was a male- so I quarantined that one and have been pollinating whatever comes along. The other GT... had a little... accident which involved a joint or two and some Christmas cheer, and a reused plant label that said Ethiopian on one side.
Basically, since I’d decided to phase out the Ethiopian recently, I went ahead and phased that plant out when I found it lurking in the jungle that night. Like ‘what the hell is that doing here?
Then, later in the week, after lengthy investigation into ‘the mysterious case of the missing Golden Tiger’. I noticed a significant clue- the other side of the label, which said ‘Golden Tiger’ on it. So I located the plant in the compost pile and planted the whole thing back in a pot again. It only had a few busted roots on the stem cause I ripped it right out and stripped it, but I figured that’s more roots than most of my new clones have. It took many months and most of it died back, but now it’s getting big again in veg. Too big actually. Veg is getting very crowded and I’d like to get that variegated one out too.

Originally I wasn’t going to tell anyone that story but wtf.

I never managed to clone the variegated Choc Mint, so I’ve taken @TorturedSoul ‘s idea and am trying to air layer it. This is basically the same process as cloning, but on a living stem. A rockwool cube, some cloning gel, a bit of scraping to get past the outer stem layer, and a plastic bag around the cube to keep moisture in. All held on with a pipe cleaner or two. I re-wet it every three or four days. It’s been a couple weeks and I haven’t seen roots yet but am optimistic.

The hash experiments... weaselhead method vs bubble bag method;

I will write something up on this soon. A fish ate my notes, but I boiled things down to a few observations and -you may be surprised.
But not tonight, it’s getting late.

I’m loving the Chocolope, which I harvested recently. I poked into PotChimp’s journal to see how his went and it sounded like he probably thought it ‘didn’t have a hair on it’s ass’ which doesn’t surprise me coming from him. But I’m really liking it. I can smell the Thai in it and it has the sort of high I really like. Very good jamming weed- keeps me up late though.

I'm surprised your air layer is holding moisture for so long? When I clone, as soon as they root, even before said roots poke out the bottom, and inside a very humid clone dome my cubes are very near dry every 24 hours. I would think you would need some kind of plastic wrap to hold some wetness in the RW? What is the removal procedure after the roots pop out, just snip below the RW? Also, the process looks very similar in nature to your grafting techniques, would you say they're similar now having experience with both? I've never done either but love to learn new things when possible and it's nice to take advantage of other people's experiences.

I finally chopped my first PC. The yield looks decent. She was frostier than Triple Cheese, but didn't stack up as well. I went through a minor micro problem when switching out my nutes so that may have diminished my yields slightly, but that's all squared up for future runs. Also have another PC pheno that I flat out hate, super stretchy and branchy with thin spaghetti like branches, just like the cheese. I had to put that one on a bunch of yoyos last night and still have 3-4 weeks to go. I'll be culling that one soon and focusing on the first strong branch pheno. No mold issues as best I can tell.

Good to see you bro... I'm a lazy fuck. Sitting there waiting to go :rofl:
We are coming along here. Auctually outta control.. planted these not expecting harvest, idea to make seed, hopefully some hash.. closer I get, more I want harvest  how plans change through greed :rofl:
Grail widow.. I've cut quarter of this plant away, to keep her under control. I'm losing the battle

That's a great looking plant! Love the bud growing on the leaves :thumb:

Thanks for the update. I’ve been wondering how your PC is going. It’s highly possible that your more horrible PC will be the one with better bud. If you’re not complaining bitterly about the plant then it’s not the same PC that I know and hate.

You mentioned a P deficiency with it. I notice that all the time with the PC and don’t seem to have solved it, but the old pheno I’m running and have been re-cloning for the last four years has definitely had the biscuit and is not happy.

Re the air layering, I didn’t show it in that picture, but after that cube was put on, I put a plastic bag on it to retain moisture- slit up the side and then wrapped around the spot and tied on, sort of. The plan is to wait for roots to become visible, then hack it off at some point.
I do think that a larger cube would be better. It’s a fair sized branch and I’ll want quite a few roots if I expect it to do well after being amputated.
I suppose it’s quite a different process for the plant between merging stems as in grafting, and growing roots from air layering. But similar in that the plant is just adapting and morphing to fit its circumstances. Pretty amazing really. If it works.

I just weighed my first PC and she's a very strong contender to be the biggest 1 plant yield I've ever taken @ 597 grams, but a bit more sweating to do, whereas the PITA one looks like ass everywhere with spindly shit all over, every branch is a wet noodle and my goal for that is merely to survive that harvest. Plant A is a keeper, even though she grows slow.

how plans change through greed

That looks really great and thanks for those early pics of the GTx- really nice. There must be enough good weather left in the summer for your greedy plans, no?
The fence seems to be crying out for an extension.

something trippier than chocolpe and the bunch.. there is more..

You’re right the Chocolope doesn’t quite have that psychedic thing, but it’s very vibrant and happy and definitely taken over from the Carnival now as I hoped it would, and then there is the Golden Tiger to look forward to.

...PC... every branch is a wet noodle and my goal for that is merely to survive...

Yes, yes young grasshopper

No, not I. Especially not right now.
I tend to grow a few strains for trade and a few for personal smoking/curiosity. Usually always the personal interest strains take over and I end up kicking myself. Especially since they are always sativas and take up so much time and space. So I try to keep my sativa allowance fairly low.
Part of me is just looking for the perfect smoke, that doesn't have unwanted side effects. Which I think I may have had with that Golden Tiger that I never cloned.
