Volks Grow

Nope, no autos here, yet. Maybe later.
K, so, Day 11: At this point, ph and ppm are pretty routine. After looking over WOFs bored pictures, I slapped myself, and went and bought a $4.70, 18 gal., blue plastic tub with a lid. After modification, viola, a new rez. with lid. It should cut down on fluid loss, and nutes. I level checked everything running and drained, and 18 gal. seems perfect.

I am flooding three times while the lights are on, and none at night. I was flooding 24hrs, but I don't want to provide a home for algae in the flood table.

I also finally went back to Omega Garden and finished the destructions. Turns out the string is wicking material, and the rod is an insertion tool. Very nice. Haven't had a single drip since.

Pics shortly.

Alrighty! For those of us in the L.A. area, we have a special treat this weekend. The THC Exposition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only wish I had more money to take with me, daddy needs some new extraction bags.... this will be my third set. Hopefully I can find some good sturdy bags that will last more than 10 runs. I'm taking my camera, extra batteries, and a 4 gig memory chip, I'll post my findings somewhere, this is going to be sweet!

Wow, it's hard to belive it's already day 14! Yesterday I went ahead and put some seedlings in the machine, five for now, maybe more today, the others are responding nicely. The clones are doing fantastic, it's apparent I must've made some clones off another plant, that I'd forgotten about, because I appear to have 90% Mr Nice, and then the rest are various. I'll know more as they grow out. I keep promising pics, and I've been taking them, uploading and posting is time consuming though, and I'm not much for sitting indoors on such a beautiful day, so I'll put some up tonight, promise. ;)

Ok, I lied, here's some pics...

I've got my nutes up to 1000 ppm, maintaining 5.8 ph @ 21deg C.

looking nice buddy

full, im jealous.

I've got my nutes at 900. Im not gonna put my babies in the wheel for a week or so. so they can have some weaker nutes first. my sprouts aren't as big as yours yet.

how did you get the sativa to bend over? did you tie it does, is it flopping around? it might when it gets heavy if you dont tie it down.

looking real nice cmx, lovin your grow.

+rep if i can.

I couldn't agree more, Propa Gator, especially with the rotation of the machine. If I were only going to feed it once a day, I'd not even need a resevoir. It seems to me that part of what hydro is all about is providing the plant with as much as they can use. Providng the nutrients in an instantly available form means they will get used more quickly, and must be replenished accordingly. In combination with an optimum environment, a person should have outstanding results. I'm working on that today, re-organizing the Vg room for peak air circulation, and temperature control. I am also going to be sealing the room for use with co2. Lot's to do today!!! Keep it green y'all!

Ambient CO2 up a mountain in Hawaii measured near twice pre-industrial levels. That is your final parameter to play with, if at all. Let it roll. You want as much as possible out, have a full load of starts on deck to accept the baton in. Logistics will bring you to the promised land.

Why not fertigate constant when the light's on? Too much leftover dirt farmer thinking.

Hello PG,
I can't say I am speaking from experience because I am still on my first turn as well, but the notes that came with my wheel from the previous owner says he had experimented with various feeding schedules from continuous feeding while the lights were on and the same with the lights off, to 4 feedings a day with variations of feeding with the lights on/off. With 2 & 3 feedings with light variations. In his conclusion of over 3 years of grows in the wheel, some being more successful than others, he surmised his best result were attained with only feeding once a day for 1 rotation 2 hours after the light had come on.

Of course the above is one growers findings and does not constitute as the only formula for using the wheel, but as with these 420 journals, we try and learn from other peoples successes and failures.

On this turn I am only feeding once a day for 1 rotation, and by looking at the results thus far, I have to say I am more than pleased at week 5 into flowering. I also am using the AN products for this grow and with much success.

I don't want to hijack your thread CMX, but I would be more than happy with your permission to post a few pics of week 5 in the OG.

Cheers,
OD

++reps for this thread and other rotational grow threads on this forum. :grinjoint:

or u could start a thread would lllllooooooovvvvveeeeee to see it

Thanks BMB,
If only I had the time....between business travel and family I am even surprised I am able to find time to run my wheel. I have to thank my better half for holding the fort together while I am away on business. So in all fairness to the 420 community, I would hate to start a thread and only be able to post once a week if I'm lucky. I frequent a few forums and I have to say I really like this one. I find the members more willing to help each other and not so quick to criticize or jump down each others throats like on some other forums. I am also not a person of a few words, if you haven't noticed already...lol
Being a public speaker, every time I try to write a brief summary I end up with enough material to write a book.

For now I will just enjoy reading the threads and I will give my 2 cents worth, if I feel it would be of help to someone. Maybe once life slows down a bit for me, I may find the time to start a journal from start to finish.

Cheers,
OD

Thanks for your input OD, you are more than welcome to post some pics here. We all like learning, that's why we're here. Different varieties may work better with different feeding schedules, I'm sure. The more of us there are here, reporting our findings, the more effective we will all be individually. Glad to have you and your insight along for the grow.

I pulled the sativa from the Vg today, it was getting too large, very quickly, but I knew that would happen. I'll be interested in watching it's adaptation back to the normal world, I bet it does something different, maybe cartwheels when I'm not looking....
lol, sorry, hashish speaking... more tomorrow...

Experience trumps theory, time after time. I appreciate the reality check, OD. CMX, that big light of yours might raise a little thirst. Normal temps and humidity and airflow turbulance and volume ect will all add to a unique grow, and that's why you're on the job, taking care of buisiness.
