Visualize Whirrled Peas: A Perpetual Garden By 013

Bad news bears..…. my WW reveg project went down in flames - she got blight or fusarium wilt. It was doing great few weeks back but by the time I circled back thru town and found her - it was too late.

Went to pull a sample cola to donate to pain patient friend and found a gallon jar of bud turning moldy, little over 3 zips about 96 grams of loss…. yikes that’s gonna hurt. I may soak in 180 grain then cook it down for oil or edibles.

Note to self - you suck… Get with the program dude!

My advice, not that you asked lol.

Start again. Brand new bagged clean dirt. Washed pots. Cleaned grow area. New seeds.

While I have had a little hiccup with aphids, my grow has hopefully turned an insect corner.

Hello dear, I’m always up for advice….

this was an odd ball sitch - plant was started in new soil, but late one evening I saw a white larvae (kinda like a grub worm) come up out of the WW soil. After seeing the larvae I knew the plant would get upcanned to a 16 gallon but I would never transplant her into the big 30 gallon smart pots cuz those monsters are a pain to setup and empty. Not taking any chances with pest larvae…

I don’t mind throwing soil out and have 4 of the 30 gallon trash bins of slow cooked soil on standby. I’m doing deep clean and new beans are sprouting (hopefully)

Getting out of the house and busy with spring has been amaze balls.…

I am so looking forward to hybrid vehicle revolution, that way when my shit runs out of juice or breaks down I can walk to the store and carry back 64 giant lithium batteries…. now that’s progress
You can just hook up to your car. :thumb:
Run your lights ac and fridge for a week.
You need a pretty big extension cord to get to work though.
Hey hope your having a great weekend Brother. :ciao:

Stay safe :cheesygrinsmiley:

True that - very long extension cord!!!

Hey Bill, did I hear correctly heard thru grapevine you are about to crank up your garden? Yep, a lot of us have been waiting for you to start up again!!!

So cool - I’m headed over to see what’s cooking!!

when it rains - it pours

yup I’ve got crotch critters.… I knew there were pin pricks on foliage but figured it was my cast of beneficial bug characters working out their pecking order. What I didn’t know was….. thrips been casing the joint - jacked a window open and moved right in. He, he, he, eviction noticed has been served!!!

In other news…. dismantled Righty - one of the 30 gallon grow bags. Soil looked good, was loaded with worms & rove beetles but it was pretty compacted and, and, and most importantly I did notice there doesn’t seem to be enough mulch in this mix. Not sure what happened there. So thanks to you Trala  I’m prolly gonna remix and recook since it’s 30 gallons worth, but that’s no thang cuz love getting my hands dirty and I’ve got brand new plastic trash cans on standby.

Popped a few beans in new bagged soil and discovered some kind of gnat or fly, then realized my dumb ass forgot to oven sterilize it. Yikes - not a good star for babies huh?

Y‘ all don‘t even look at me - I’m a go sit in the corner, dunce hat and all for an extended bitch & moan session. Umm what cheese goes best with whine??

still raining crotch critters over here. After Safers Soap application the thrips appear greatly diminished possibly even eradicated so thats fabulous news - but now it’s mites and IDK which species? Dosing with rosemeric acid foliar spray.

The takeaway is not good, eye exam in January need new reading glasses. Ok nothing new there but even with new spectacles on, I can’t see shite in garden. I’m talking a significant downturn in visual abilities…. bumped up like 4 times to get to 3.75 magnification and was finally able to see soil mites. Yeah, no…. this slurps out loud.

will double down on wearing hat and shades in da‘ garden  kindly suggest you do the same.…. that and switch to carrots cuz ya never see a rabbit wearing glasses.

IDK, I’m hoping wifi microscope pics of my foliage zoomed up on iPad will suffice

Most folks don't need to see soil mites so don't sweat the magnification...they're reading glasses, not magnifying glasses!

Have you gone with mosquito dunks for whatever is living in the soil? Carcass keeps a bucket of water with the dunks dissolved in it for his gnats, and uses some of the 5 gallons when he mixes his nutes and then refills the bucket.

Carcass' method:

"I just throw 1/4 of a dunk in the 5 gallon bucket every 3 weeks or so to keep the gnats away...
If I have an active gnat infestation, I'll use half a dunk in the bucket for a little more killing power, then
I go back to 1/4 of a dunk to keep the growspace gnat-free...
A quarter of a dunk is equal to 1 tbsp. of the bits, if you decide to do it this way.

The reason I do it this way is that it takes 24 hours for the bacteria from the dunks to populate the water, and I don't want to have to fill a gallon jug 24 hours in advance of when I water the plant, so I just treat 5 gallons at a time, and the water is always ready to use."

Hey InTheShed!! It’s great to hear from you. Too funny on glasses but dang if I can‘t see pests then I’m screwed

Oh yes sir, I’m all about mosquito dunks or bits. I always soak ‘em in water overnight and use a few sprinkled as top dress at every upcan. The gnats are under control in my grow it’s just the new purchased soil was loaded with them.

Guess I’m gonna recook the soil in plastic bags in the sun? Do you have any experience there??

and I’ve observed dunks have zero impact on my beneficial rove beetles and earthworms
