I want to make these for my Ebb&Gro



10g is a 30A wire. Don't try to use an extension cord. Remove the dryer outlet. Buy a 30' of 10g wire. It sounds like your dryer outlet is 10/3 (includes red wire), but what are your 240V outlets for the lights? Mine only use 10/2 wire. Buy the correct wire for your application.

Connect one end of that wire to the wires where the dryer outlet was. Run your wire up to your grow area into a new junction box. From that box, branch out to your outlets. In my case, I have 4 separate legs for each outlet. If your outlets have 2 sets of terminals, you may be able to daisy chain them.

Bassman, do you have a journal? I want to help, but I don't want to hijack Vick's thread. Vick has been pretty forgiving so far, but this is his thread.

1. Whats the difference between 10/3 & 10/2? I know the ballast is 3 prong if that matters.
2. The part that I don't get is why not using the store bought dryer extension into a block? In my little pea pea brain the dryer plug-in would seem to have an excellent connection and if I need to take down it's a simple unplug with no evidence of unintended use.

It was mentioned to me that running long extensions like I mention above cause a loss of power and require heavier wire. Would this really be an issue if I'm only running 2 lights? I mean the wire up to the laundry room from the service box outside has got to be 15-20 feet minimum already. And around the house some of the 110v plugs have to be over 50' from the service box. Is this really an issue?

10/2 means there are 3 wires (black, white, and bare), 10/3 means there is also a red wire for a total of 4. Your dryer outlet is most likely 4 wire (mine is), but I don't know what the outlets for your lights look like. Mine only needed 3 wire (no red). I wasted a little money running 10/3 as it costs more than 10/2 (more copper). Look at the Titan timer I linked above. That's the kind of outlets I installed. Looks like traditional 120V outlet except the blades are horizontal instead of vertical.

A plug connection will not be as solid as using wire nuts. The wire is also braided vs solid. It makes it more flexible, but, as Oldman said, making a solid connection is more difficult. You're going to have trouble at the end where your lights are. You want to connect your extension cord to a junction box. That's where the braided wire will make it harder to get a good connection. What we're suggesting is not really too different than what you're proposing. You're just getting the wire from a different aisle. You want to get regular Romex wire that is normally put inside a wall. You can run it outside the walls since your setup is somewhat temporary. While it won't be as easy to remove as simply unplugging a cord, it will not be hard to remove all evidence of your handywork. You will just disconnect the wire you connected at the dryer plug, and put the original outlet back in. All other aspects of removing any trace are the same.

At the distances you're talking, the length isn't adding too much resistance, but it never hurts to use thicker wire. That being said, you do NOT need to run 8g wire. Get 10/2 or 10/3 depending on the outlets your installing.

I think the only way I'm going to be able to use 2 lights in this place, is if I buy new ballast's. So I'm looking at some 600 watt Lumitek's (adjusta watts)
Also trying desperately to get my hands on some seeds or clones for next grow, but not having much luck.
Don't want to do the mail order thing so trying to source locally.
If I want to have the next gen ready to go when these come down, I gotta act quick cuz I wanna grow some monsters! I'm going to have almost a foot of extra vertical space because I want to ditch the tent and run 2 600's.
Looking at maybe doing a run with Ambrosia (God bud X Burmese). But would have to screw around with sprouting/sexing/and a long veg.
Not that I mind doing all that, I just forgot how easy I had it before. Keeping this particular strain of OG going by cloning these past 3 grows, hasn't had me bothering to look for anything else new. And it seems anyone local selling clones only have PK or OG Kush.
Minimum order of 50..

And don't get me wrong, they're great strains, but come on now!
I want to grow something new, different, and exotic. I've tried some Burmese that a friend gave me, and it was the most resinous crystalized, and tasty buds I'd ever seen or smoked.
So that's why I've got my eye on Ambrosia.
Can't really go wrong with that cross.

I'd almost rather walk into a seed bank or dispensary, drop my "cash" on the counter, and be on my way.

thats exactly how it is around here bro Kush Kush Kush,3200 a pound for decent kush and 2200 a pound for anything else even if its better weed.Funny thing is that most people this far north have never smoked real kush so they are calling any dank smelling weed kush.It makes me laugh when my neighbour comes over for a spliff and says "i picked up this master kush or holy grail kush and I have a taste of it and its not Kush at all lol...they think kush is a slang name for good weed

I think the name game around here is just part of the money game.I grow my own but alot of the stuff I have smoked with friends is no better than bag seed I have grown out that I paid 25 or 30 for qt. and they are paying 100 to 140 for qt. Some of it is good but not all that.
