Vex's Vault: Dual RADDWC Veg & Bloom Chambers, Various Strains, Dual LED

Nice that gets me close enough.

Setup looks noice!
Positive delivery passive return. I'm trying to incorporate more undercurrent elements in mine.

Looks like you've got the totes double stacked. Care to tip your hand on that? I've been playing around with using something along those lines to manage roots in the recirc

Thank you! I saw the video below of a system using this type of setup, it was fascinating. I wanted to incorporate it with the Dewey Misters. Less air pumps, tubing, or airstones needed. I'll be tossing in a large airestone in each res for peace of mind.

Originally I was going to build an under current system, like my buddy PW, but decided to go with the spray nozzle. I like what LoneStar did with the sprayers in his RDWC as well. .

I plan to place the Dewey base and inlet between the first and 2nd tote. This way roots won't clog the Dewey. I'll drill tiny holes in the bottom of the top tote.
Although I may just use 1 tote, drill hole for Dewey, and have the roots grown into painters mesh bags for easy transport to Bloom chamber. Just an idea I'm playing it.

Looks awesome! I'm going to have to use the 3D software for my design too. It looks too good!

Couple of questions:

what is your desired level in each grow tote and what technique are you using to maintain it?

How did you decide to put the Y strainer on the return?

Thanks!! It's the free Microsoft 3D builder. It's a bit glitchy, but helps with sizing and part ordering...fun to mess with.

The "Y" filter is actually on the feed line, just before the inline water pump's intake. .

I may manifold or scrog to keep the plants short and bushy. Max grow height will be 3'-3.5' from netcup.

Get your plumbing hats on, Vex is building a flux capacitor! Hydroponics for NASA level shit! Now that I've got electric down, I'm gonna have to watch how you set this up, it's going to be one sick system! Vex' Super Spawner 5000 lol

Helmet on! Hahaha...fucking awesome!! Thanks, brother!!

I really like the "Super Spawner". I may have to ask 420 staff to please change this journal's title. Haha

.

Looks insane in here vex. Cant wait to see your system come together.

Thanks, brother BF. So glad you joined us!

Me too!

Dang now we all need a Super Spawner 5000, theres another paycheck spent! .

Haha, it does have a nice ring to it.

Right on. I'll look at PWs a lil closer. That was my thought with the Dewey base as well.
Noice!

Now that I think about it now, I may need to set the Dewey off to 1 side, possibly at an angle if I use a mesh bag. Damn, even without the bag, the roots will growing right over the Dewey tip...I see issues as the roots grow.

*gears turning*

Dual RADDWC design is getting there...

Re: Vex's Vault - Dual RADDWC Veg & Bloom Chambers - Various Strains - Dual LED

Does the solution in the tote need to be a certain depth? Is so how do you maintain it and keep it from just returning to the res?
Yes, it'll have to be above the Dewey Misters' water inlet, but uses much less water than traditional deep water culture. Which is a plus!

Water levels itself, so I'll set the return line to my preferred height for the Dewey to allow the solution to drain back to rez using gravity.

Hope I make sense... lol Smoking some 24K at the moment. .

At some point I'll be adding a small water tank with float valve to refill the rez/system for a few days. Less worry about the water level dropping, and halting the recirculation.

.Crystal clear..

The 3D diagram seems to show a vertical section at the end of the return inside the res. My guess is you'll size that to maintain enough depth for the Dewey to function. Am I missing something?.

Here are some better angles of the system, especially the rez.

The rez won't have a Dewey, maybe an airstone. The angled pipe in the rez is the return line.

hmmm that gives me a couple of ideas
I'm glad it sparks some ideas.

I added a drain faucet above rez. I'll place a 3.5 gallon bucket there when draining the system.

Re: Vex's Vault - Dual RADDWC Veg & Bloom Chambers - Various Strains - Dual LED

Yea, I figure build it now, make solution changes easier going forward. A shop vac would be too loud for my new location. Lol

I may also raise the totes 2" and install drains with 1" pvc. I'll attach it to the water pump/faucet, using more ball valves to close when not draining. Because once the rez is drained, there will be lots left in the totes after the water level hits the bottom of the return pipes...

Mine always leaves solution in the grow buckets after the rez is drained. I just have to pull it out with the vac.
Yup. Mine too.

I think the drains at each tote will be worth the time and effort during build.

I think I get it now. The return line is at an elevation to provide the depth you want in each tote. .Maybe I'm thinking too much...

Yup, you got it Cheesy!! . .

Subbed in and looking forward to this one vex. That little bit of software you've been using is awesome, very impressed with how you're designing it all and planning before starting the build! . .
