Urban Achievers Inner City Seeds of Promise

Beautiful garden Urban! And really fabulous photos - I feel even more chuffed that you've admired my photos now that I've seen your standard! What camera did you get (I think you may have said, but I missed it - have mostly been skimming the words and focusing on the eye candy)? I use an Olympus sport 'point n shoot' that I've had for more than 10years and I wish for a DSLR. Have been thinking I should get clear on which one so I can wish for it more clearly... ;)

Again - such nice plants! I'm aspiring to buds like that
:volcano-smiley:

Thank you Agemon! Yeah I havent had a chance to white balance this new light, lost my grey card and forgot how to do it lol, and I am no longer using a decent program so its going to be a pain. To my eyes the light was pretty normal/white. We will either figure it out or I will use a different light when taking photos lol

That's only 18% of it, you gotta have the shop skills too!

I went back to a few recent purple pics. Wanted to try out the white balance pre-set I made in the photo editor. I opened up the old file, clicked a button, and presto. The power of a DSLR.

What did you do to do that??? I hate my purple pics but don't know to change it on my Nikon. LOL

I trust everyone is properly medicated. I know I feel great with this Voodoo. Uplifting but also takes away some minor aches and pains.

This is part 2 of todays update as it deserves its own post. If you have a dslr and cant figure out how to take out the purple. Here it is. If you have any questions send me a pm.

Ok so I got a custom white balance set up in my camera now. I have it correcting the purple colour of the dwarf star. I took a photo of a grey object under the light. Most camera bag interiors are grey for that reason. Then set the custom white balance based on that grey image. The camera is told that the pink shit in front of it is actually a grey card. It adjusts. Cameras take in thousands of times more information than our eyes.

Its not perfect. I have a proper grey card coming in the mail. $9. But I press one button and my blurple pics get adjusted to what you see here today. You also dont lose any detail trying to correct it with software.

The purple and orange you see here is just the plant being stunning in this soil and the cold temps.

Yeah I don't understand what you did. Pretend you explaining it to a 10 year kids LOL......thats a level that I can understand.

Ok no problem. I didnt explain it properly. I went ahead and made the photography thread so I think I will do a how to do that later to ight when the tent turns on.

But the grey card is a card you can buy that is always a certain grey. It doesnt change. So in a given light condition you take a close up of the grey card. When you take a picture in different light, the grey looks different, and therefore you have an idea of HOW it changed. What light spectrums are there and what are not. The camera, or software, can then make corrections. You go into the camera settings and choose ‘custom white balance’ and use the photo of the grey card.

Once the camera understands the perameters of the light you are shooting in, it can make the adjustment, and gives you a much more natural image. I also accomplished this in my editing software.

Look for this instructional how to, in the new photography thread.

Thank you brother. I appreciate you starting that thread and thank you in advance for the lessons.

Took a peek in there and messed around for a while. Two differemt lights on make it very hard.

Take a look at this amnesia, I see mostly cloudy trichs on that shot but, my eyes are having their moment of glory giving out for the first time in my life. So I cant tell for sure lol. I do know I need to see an eye doctor.

When i get serious about the pics, i turn off the blurple lights and the fans. When im too high i use the tripod...

Lmfao been a few times this past month I was puffing away and looked down at the camera and said to myself...I am too high to be doing this...and walked away.

I have just passed 500 photos on the site. Seems like a lot. Not bad for joining less than a year ago.

I trimmed some lower branches off Green Crack #4 the other day. Let them dry for a day or two. Now I put them in a paper bag to dry in the fridge for a week or so. Such an amazing smell.

Starting a week of afternoon shifts. Depending on the mood or fatigue, I hope to snap some more photos of these achievers before chop day is on us, somce I dont know the exact day. A part of me is getting sad to see these ladies coming down the home stretch. The next round of flower tent inhabitants are going to be agressive and bushy. I think this time we will leave the scrog net on and go for some yield.

These BC big bud and blueberry crosses will provide that I am sure.

Not yet close though if I was to guess hard to tell really with those rails in the way .

I do my best photography when I'm baked. Was always like that when I was in school too...

Absolutely! I get super creative and motivated. But I have gone too far a few times. That gorilla glue really messed up my brain processes lol

I like to use the priority modes when I shoot, I got tired of manually balancing the light meter every friggin shot... Besides with Camera Raw those full stop adjustments are so easy you don't even need to bracket anymore.

Yeah the priority modes is something I want to cover in the photo thread, particularly for Van Stank and Swag. It's a good way to get to know the DSLR while getting decent photos.

I am glad I learned how to shoot manually but now that I understand what the camera is doing, I only shoot in full manual mode for certain things.

I used to get stoned and go out to the city back when i was in highschool and take photographs.. i need to do that again. I get that artsy feel when im high and taking pics.. makes me really satisfied when i get that right angle in focus with the right lighting. Ive never really used a fancy camera. Would be fun to play around with. Glad i have plenty of guys to look up to if i do get one.. you two fellas take some of the best photos!

Yes I need to learn this!!! LOL......especially since I don't understand what you said LOL.

Well I have some eye candy and a bit of an update.

I gave them some water last night and did a trichome check. We are almost there I think. Starting to see some ambers on a few plants.

I got a few goodies in the mail. A new grey card but I found the old one so now I have two. I also got a wired remote shutter trigger. Finally another set of ratchet hangers for my lights. Everything looks dialed in. Now that we are almost done lol.

The green crack #4 smells like grape crush or grape fanta. #3 smells of pepper and spice as well as the sweet.

Pretty sure I need to run out and grab a few buckets and hydrogen peroxide for the chop n wash.
