UncleC's Ganja Kitchen - Part 1

I made a trip to the store today to pick up a few things and while I was there I made a little trip down the baking goods isle.

CannaOil Cooking

The cannabutter is a standard recipe that I found. For the cannaoil I'm using cold pressed virgin coconut oil.

I'll be making some brownies and cookies in another day or so once everything is ready for use.

This is fun....

A cookie a day keeps the doctors away.

No double burner. Just a couple of pots slow simmering on the stove top.

My obsession with collecting seeds has become almost as addictive as my gardening hobby. :;):

I have some really fine IBL sativa genetics that I've been holding for a while. I have a feeling that it won't be long before some of them are grow out for parent selection.

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Hey there brightlight,
Good of you to stop by.
You are correct, all Indo bat guano is very high in phosphorus. I actually prefer bone meal as a primary P source due to it's slow release properties, not to mention the calcium and other micro nutrients that are included.
Bat guano's typically provide a much quicker release of P than bone meal which make guano's very useful as topdressings for quick P boost during flower.
Because of the faster nutrient release and availability rates of guano's the phosphorus that is added when applied will tend to dissipate quicker than when using bone meal and some other P sources so you won't end up with loads of residual P in the soil come harvest time.

My reason for using Indo bat guano in this mix is as follows:
1. Immediate phosphorus availability to help to establish healthy roots after transplant.
2. Indo bat guano has very good nematicidal and fungicidal properties when added to soil.
3. This mix is being used to transplant up and immediately transition from veg to bloom. The Indo guano will be immediately available for root growth and will provide adequate amounts of P for the first few weeks of bloom until the slow release P from the bone meal takes over.

I may top dress with additional Indo bat guano around week 4 of flower if it appears that a phosphorus boost is needed during flower.

I hope that this helps to explain my reasoning behind the use of Indonesian guano.

:peace:

Thanks for info Unc. Have always used bone meal & soft rock phosphate in mix, but have been thinking of adding some high P guano into it too. Like what you said about quicker availability for root development. Have some all purpose 10-10-? that should be good for mix. Top dressed bat guano is my primary flowering food....weekly through wk. 6. I've never found anything that beats high P bat guano in bloom.:thankyou::Namaste:

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

To be honest, the earthworm castings would likely provide all of the phosphorus that is needed for a healthy head start with guano's to follow later as tea or top dress applications as needed.

I'm also a fan of guano top dressings during bloom and find that it works great. I usually use a topdress mix consisting of earthworm castings, indo bat guano, along with a dash of dolomite lime and epsom salt.
However, I do like to keep top dressing frequency to a minimum (not more than twice during bloom if possible) in order to prevent the top layer of soil from becoming compacted or building up a concentrated nutrient environment at the surface.

Thanks again Uncle. I didn't know EWC had that much P in it...good to know! I use the heck out of it but really haven't seen that much info/explanation on its various components. Doh! Roots are generally massive so will leave well enough alone & skip the high P guano in mix. In bloom I'm using Indonesian & Jamaican bat & Indo. seabird...bat for density & seabird for flavor.:high-five:

OK I have just realized that I should not read posts until I have fully waken and my brain is atleast semi-functional. When I read that, the first image that popped through my mind was of a seagull sh!tcicle and and thinking "that can't taste good" LOL

All EWC are different depending on the diet that the worms were fed. The EWC that I have access to have an average NPK value of 1.0-0.5-0.2 I know this because I sent some samples off for testing. Some EWC depending on the brand and diet of the earthworms may have less or more of each macronutrient.

I would think that the P contained within my used soil mix plus the 0.5% added P from the EWC should be enough P to make for a smooth transition during transplant even though the P contained within EWC should have a relatively slow release rate.

The addition of the high P guano in the mix is just a case of me toying around with the puzzle to find out what effect it will have.
This is why I specifically mentioned that others should not follow my lead until results are know.

If I fall flat on my face as a result of my little experiment I prefer to fall alone and not bring others down with me. LOL!

I've gotten a bit of flack in the past from veganic and non-organic gardeners about the use of manures and guano's in my grows.
Next time one of these conversations pop up I'll refer to my dank and sticky guano buds as shitcicles. That should make them gang up on me even more. LOL!!

LOL I know the feeling, I try to read through SweetSue's and have still not caught up on that one, so much info there :)

I always recommend you join the crowd and browse through the rest of it when time allows. We're all so over-subscribed there isn't any time left over though. Eventually it all gets chewed through again. Just come and join the discussion. Ask questions. There is a lot of great stuff in there though. They get so big they intimidate me. :laughtwo:

SweetSue does give her babies lots of lovin' that's for sure.
If any of my girls had the faintest idea of the luxury life that is on offer in the gardens of others such as Sue's they'd grow legs and run away heading straight on over to Sue's place.
Over at Sue's they'd be getting massages and their tops made up into little ponytails and whatnot.
Unfortunately, life in the Ganja Grove is more like being confined inside of a Mexican prison than a spa and massage center.

This is one reason that I never surf 420mag on my iPad when inside my grow room.
If my girls get a peak at some of the other gardens here at 420mag they'll realize just how tough that they've got it compared to the girls on the other side of the tracks. LOL!

You're such a hoot! Yes, I do love them, and they know it. Lucky little plants. And have you seen Carnival? All that SweetSue TLC is paying off big time. :battingeyelashes:  I'll try to speak softly so your girls don't know I'm here and try to sneak home with me. :laughtwo:

Last time that I saw your Carnival Girl she was looking like a princess.
I made a stop to check out your girls just yesterday but didn't get far in my attempt to get caught up before I was pulled away from the computer. I'll head that way soon to sneak a peak at your gang of high society ladies.
I'll be sure to knock before entering so that I don't disturb any spa sessions that may going on at the time. LOL!!
:;):

By the way, thanks for whispering softly.
It would really suck to arrive home from work, unzip the grove, and find that the lights are on but nobody's home.
If ever it does happen I'll know who to call. LOL!

Got Milk.....??

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Mmmmmm. I'll take a few. Got any coffee? Nah, milk is better. Combine milk and oatmeal and you have a complete protein. Morning bliss. :battingeyelashes:

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Sending a few your way Sue. Always happy to share. :)

They'll go down much better with milk. I can see myself dipping them in milk already!!
Instead of morning bliss they may cause morning blindness. Night time use only for me I think.
