Tutankharmon - 400HPS - Soil Coco Mix - Grow

Hey Alex. That very group of stores is currently selling 40ltr pots for £3 each :) I bought a couple this week to use as plaster mixers lol. Think I might grab another 12 for grow 2 :)

The 47litre ones? The one ones that are flexible? They are what I used through my last grow that's in my sig. If u click on it below u can catch a quick roundup on the last two pages
I decided to downsize pots this time. The root ball at the end was around 1/2 the size of pots

Hey Alex, yep that's the ones mate :) Think with an extra 2 weeks veg it's justifiable to give em a go. I'll take a peep on your sig mate:)

Hydrogen peroxide is good for sterilising. Possibly cheaper than the tablets too.

Hey Mono. Thanks for that. Having been a "Dad" I trust Milton with my babies :)

Hey Light, really looking nice in here. First off to comment on your deficiency. I definitely think that this is Magnesium related due to the spread of of yellow veins ALL throughout the area of the affected leaves. I believe that I have seen Mg deficiencies so much, that they are one of the most common nutes to get locked out when introducing soiless medium, for its short life in other mediums. In fact if your plant's stems starts turning purple STRICTLY towards the upper half of the plant at any stage of growth, this is more likely related to a def than actual genetics of the plant. With the 'purple' phenotype I have always seen the purple hue develop, either from seedling all throughout the grow, or during late flowering when genetics start to show due to environmental changes etc. But when you have it start to develop on some stems and not others, But mainly on new growth, than this is an obvious sign, IMO of a def.

Now a couple of questions for you. Are you noticing the yellowing of veins more towards upper new growth or bottom older growth? Can you get a picture of new growth with as little bud as possible? This where you can usually tell if a plant is suffering from a Mg def. Lastly, just lightly feel your affected leaves between your fingers. If you notice a dryness or brittleness in some of the affected leaves than this most commonly shows the lack of Mg and the start of a def.

AS others have said, I will not worry too much at this stage, but you and I are similar in the fact that we notice the very little changes in our plants as soon as they strike. Now the decision to react on that is where the future of your plant lives. I tend to keep note on all these changes as you do, and incrementally start adjusting for them at each feed. Eliminating one factor at a time to get the solution!

But as King John and Craw mentioned (and maybe Alex :)) I would not stress TOO much over it at this stage of development since it has not spread too much by the looks of those pictures! You are doing great thus far Light, and a lady a size of that magnitude will definitely warn you ahead of time from the start of a def or lockout. There is so much square area covers that you have so many points of references to compare!

Got a question, why do ppl start in small pots and move to larger later? Ease of watering control?

Hey Nerf, great question. I have done many experiments on the affects of pot size vs. growth rate. And I have come to the conclusion that the SMALLER the pot, the smaller the growth. I would say the biggest factor here is to find that balance between plant size and root development. I can somewhat agree with putting a seedling in its final pot due to avoiding extra work, BUT from what I researched, the actual progression of larger medium tends to give a MUCH bigger root mass at the crown of the plant. The roots of plants tend to grow straight down and THEN start encircling the pot width-wise in attempt to find more space. If you are able to get a plant to this stage with each incremental increase of pot size, then you will develop a nice healthy root mass that will grace you with faster growth rates, and overall bigger, healthier plants.

Here are two picture comparing growth rate of the exact same strain (from seed), but the only difference is I transplanted the bigger one 6 DAYS before I eventually transplanted the smaller one.

You can clearly see how pot size has affected growth rate at this stage, BUT obviously as the plant gets bigger, you will never be able to compare what is 'faster' new growth or not!

I have so many photos and logs of experiments I have done and am currently still in the process of. From examples of wide ranges of what specific deficiency look like to comparing growth rates and pot sizes. I will definitely be putting up some kind of hub to document my findings an such for the community.

Wonder how many tops are on that plant, amazing!

Start counting friend, I am right behind you :nomo:

>>>the issue is just with the bigger fans and leaves lower down the plant.

If this is the case, you might just have caught your plant in the recovering stage. If a Mg def does get really severe, new growth will really be noticeably paler and yellowing veins. In my case I have quite a few leaves that look like that, much older and large fan leaves lower down the plant, and this was from the Mg def I had last month. So the leaves still show this discoloration even though it is in an overall healthy state currently, and if I am not careful I walk into my grow room BLAZED out of my mind thinking "Damn this Mg def is back again!"

Glad I can help, and get those pics when you can just to confirm. I canalso take a couple ofpics of those older leaves on my Bubb plant for comparison if needed. Good Luck ;)

AfricanGrower...Many thanks!! You have just answered a question I have been trying to find an answer to for a couple of days now concerning my own grow with a similar issue! +reps to you!:adore:

How ya doing mate? Hope alls well in ur neck of the woods :) just looked under my canopy and some of my hand sized fan leaves which I pushed under early doors are like 10x worse looking than urs lol
Hope you garden is lush and green with nice white hairs when u visit it :)

Good day

Good day to all. May your garden today be a spot of unbridled serenity, growing steadily with vigor and potency!

Just a little teaser of a few pics. I'll be posting a big update in both my torture gardens later. Big Gert is going to get her adjustment later. Now she is in flower and have her shape set, it'll just be keeping bud sites evenly spaced etc. She only gets one adjustment a week nowadays!

Oz.... 100% justifiable 5 week veg perfect . Next run I'm going back up in size with longer veg. Guna look for 30litres I think but if they're pricey il go back to them big flexy tubs

Hi Alex. Yeah I'm pretty well convinced that I'll veg for as long as the room available lets me (5-6 weeks with luck) :) I'm already thinking about taking everything out of the tent and re-locating lights, fans and air conditioner to allow better access and more grow space. Just out of interest, what temps and humidities do you run (lights on and off) ?

Hey oz how u doing budy.
Temps are up n down I like to keep it as steady around 80-85 lights on but in summer they creep up to 90
Lights out they just sit at the same tempreture as my house say around 65-70

Humidity for me fluctuates. Day I water it may show 60% working down to 20% by the time they next need watering
I do regular defol of my canopy so as little is touching as possible.

Don't forget oz....... It's ok vegging to your rooms potential but as soon as you flick the switch to 12/12
You will be hit in the face with 14-25 days rapid growth whilst they stretch. My plants sometimes double in size both hight and bushyness
So you need to picture what the room will look like after the stretch before you plan flicking the switch :)
Just a reminder dude :)
