Turbo Bucket's Take On RADDWC: Grow Room Build-Up

What's up @Icemann420 ? How have you been?

Update on the littles. They all got moved into new 3 gallon fabric pots today. It's all recycled from the last run so I flushed the Coco with some clearex and then ran a weak compost tea with some z7, orca, and hydroguard through it.
The girls were circling roots in the bottom of the tiny solo cups so I pruned the bottom inch or two of each root ball to help stimulate some new branching root growth.
I'll go ahead and spray them with a light shot of dynagro, protekt, and hydroguard this evening before the lights come on. Probably Sunday maybe Monday depending on how they react I'll top them all at the third node.

Been along time since I peeked in and WOW that one full mother fucking tent... You know I'm not going to miss this grow.. GL my friend

Soo I found a big ole tote laying on the shoulder of the road in my yard this morning. And now I have a bigger reservoir! Just needs a lid.

So I increased my feed frequency and decreased the amount. I filled it up with 20 gallons this morning.
The new feed mix per gallon was as follows:
Protekt-5ml
Foliage pro-10ml
Mag pro- 2ml
Terpinator -5ml

It takes 3 minutes with my system to see run off from each pot so I set it to run 4 minutes just before lights on and 3 minutes every two hours. 3 hours before dark is the last cycle and that runs for 6 minutes to ensure everything is thoroughly rinsed out and refilled with fresh nutrients without leaving the roots overly wet overnight.

I may adjust this schedule, the reservoir was empty when I got home today. I filled it with 20 gallons 3 hours after lights on. So it actually skipped two feed cycles today and was still empty after the last feeding. I don't have a float switch installed to turn the pump off at low water level yet so that needs to happen soon or I need to find another work around to address it. Whether that's decreasing feed amount by another minute or taking out a feed cycle I'll monitor over the next couple days and adjust when I've reached a conclusion. I know I don't want to burn this pump up though.

Anyways here's the girls.

That's what I was leaning towards. Every 3 minute irrigation is roughly 4 gallons.

But I read through some of that stuff that @TheMadDabber linked at it talked about fertigation frequency and the more the better.

As plants absorb nutrients from the surrounding medium it creates small depletion zones that are constantly refilled from the adjacent areas of higher concentration. By more frequently replenishing the entire medium with fresh nutrient solution you increase the time of high nutrient availability at the root surface.

So by that reasoning I would be better served to leave or increase the number of cycles and decrease the feed amount. But I use well water and it tends to cause calcium build up on the fabric pots and in the soil so ensuring enough runoff is important.

All good bud.
Yup drain to waste. The plants were started in 1 gallon containers of pro mix and then transplanted into 5 gallon fabric pots full of Coco.
Correct I was watering once per day up to week 4 of flower then they were getting twice a day. This was solely based on my 5 gallon reservoir. I could fill it as needed in the morning (5 gallons per tent) and refill the reservoir so the pump could come on again 4 hours before lights out for the tent furthest into flower.

I have wanted a bigger reservoir to be able to increase feed frequency and decrease reservoir fills since I set it up but low budget and what not so it's stayed the same. But now on the holiest of stoner holidays I was granted a bigger reservoir. Hahaha.

I run an 11 on 13 off light schedule so they get watered at
6:50, 9:00,11:00,1:00, and 3:00 which is roughly 33 gallons of solution.

The article linked previously in the thread also has some more articles to go with it. In them they discuss increased yields with increased irrigation cycles. They suggest 5<10<20. More cycles lower EC required versus fewer cycles higher EC to meet the plants requirements. The trade off is it requires a greater volume of nutrient solution for every cycle you run.
@GRBigBud616 runs multiple cycles per day with great success. I would like to use only 3 gallon containers to reduce the required medium and help create a denser more fibrous rootball through air pruning. That and 9x5 gallon plants seem too large for practical application year round. I have gotten lucky through the cool dry winter months.

Sorry I missed ya last night turbo. The RSO kicked my ass pretty hard. I'd be down to do a live tonight if your up for it? Kinda have some dying plants on my hands all of a sudden... and in veg to make it even worse. Problem is I cant decide if I should let them dry out or just "force feed" them.

Heres what I mean.

Normally I do the soil in a solo cup which I did.

Then they get coco in a one gallon and from there on.

Well by the end of their 1 gallons I got lazy. And I just would dump (sometimes plain) water into the runoff tray and call them good.

Ans they were for a while, until my last lazy episode. They had a wilt / curl and I could notice coming on and I knew they were about to get pissy.

I probably should have waited to up pot but I didn't. Normally I'd up pot in coco and feed equal parts of my 3 part and they'd come out of the funk.

But I didnt have coco. So I threw them into more dirt. I watered with some root mass expanders which is what I add when my of my plants are in a funk, but they are getting worse.

Soooooo. Do you think I should just buy some coco today, and re transplant?

If I dont I'm at this crucial and odd stage where idk to water (since my lazy watering practices from before maybe caused over watering and even possible root rot) or to not water. Normally in coco I never worry about it. But since I transferred to soil I'm scared if I feed too soon I'll piss them off more....

Haha you'll have that.

I would be tempted to pull one out of the container and see what the roots look like. If it's just the bottom that's all nasty cut that off and drop into a new container.

I mean they really didnt seem bound...

And they were brownish but didnt stink or seem slimy.

I'll see if I can get a look today. Appreciate the input

Gurrrrg. Okay I'll see if I can remedy them. I havent watered or fed the psm cross. the stankberry I flushed cause she was hurting and idk what else to do. I'm gonna wait another day or 2 then RIP them out if 1 or both havent recovered

I’m trying to catch you!
