Troy's 2nd - Autos - DP Ultimate & Euphoria, Meph Alien v Tangle, RQS Diesel

If you feel she's strong enough and healthy as she looks like, you can start but go gently and not to much at the same time. Do it within multiple days so that she doesn't stretch too much :Namaste:

I've been doing a little defoliation like you suggested. The canopy is starting to raise so at least I can get in there. It is funny I took out about 10 leaves yesterday and today you couldn't even tell they were removed.

I meant "stress" not #stretch

Thanks for clarifying. I'm pretty heavy on defoliation so shouldn't be a problem. I've been letting them get settled in with their new light setup today.

Let that pure unadulterated white led light bathe your green beauties troy! They're gonna love it!

Thanks MadDabber - I already am loving it. No more turning off the lights to take pictures!

I added a digital multimeter to by driver this afternoon to help tune the light output. The big fixture I have can be driven at 75 watts per COB but require some active cooling to be added to the heatsinks. I have cranked it up and it is really bright.

Can I ask, what spectrum of light did you go with??

Troy, the plants look amazing
Dee has a ton of bud sites
You did some awesome LST on your plants
Lights look great... what % are you at with the new set added
I’m thinking of running a mover with mine in the new room

Hey Hector -

Good seeing ya.

I've been doing a little defoliation this evening. I turned the driver up to 389 watts (5 Cobs) from 336. I will have to figure out what percentage that is. I'm going to keep an eye on them to see what the temperature does. I don't want to over drive the COBS.

I use to have a mover back when I was breeding Orchids. It works well and really helps spread the light throughout your grow area.

Hey Troy the girls are looking great! I have a hard time keeping up on your journal, every day I check it and you have a page or two of new convo going on! Lol.

So you use to grow Orchids? That’s awesome ( one of my favorite flower besides pot) also reminds me when I was 17/18 and growing in my closet at my parents. I had built a super stealth grow box out of an old dresser. I also had a few snakes at the time and my 9foot rock python got out. I was looking everywhere and had my closed door open. I had also recently harvested so the grow box was empty and I had opened it to check inside for the snake. He wasn’t in there but I forgot to close everything back up. Needless to say my mom came in my room to see if I found my snake and took one look in my closet and in her best scary “mom” voice yelled “YOU CANT GROW MARIJUANA IN MY HOUSE!” I was so shocked I didn’t know what else to say but “I’m not, I’m growing Orchids!”

Obviously she didn’t buy it for one second and made me distroy the grow box I worked so hard on. Luckily I had already dried and jarred everything so she never found my stash. It took a few years but now it’s a running joke in my family, any time some one mentions Orchids they say, how are you “Orchids” doing Jay?

Sorry, had to share when I read you actually use to grow them.

3/2/18 - Fast update today. I have to go pick up my daughter today about 100 miles away. Yes Alison is coming over to celebrate Briar Rose's Birthday. (that is the real Alison and Briar).

The tent is starting to fill in as the girls continue to grow. They all really perked up today with all the extra COB light.

Dee and Olga each put on another inch and are now at about 13"

Have a look at my grow I have a model that l really recommand

I do appreciate your recommendation, but I was actually trying to find out if Troy went with 3000K or 3500K or some other spectrum for his lights.

I'm looking at cobb lighting and trying to reduce my heat in my tent. I must if I ever plan to grow between spring and fall.

I went with the 3500K. My research indicated that it was a nice blend for both grow and bloom.

The temperatures have been running a good 5-10 degrees lower with the COBS. Both of my drivers are variable and controlled by a potentiometer. The big one has a really powerful driver that can drive the COBS and MAX of 75 watts each. When you start driving that heavy it really increases the heat.

I would really recommend putting your driver outside the tent. All you have to do is put on a longer 18 gauge wire between the Driver and the first and last COB.

Jay - That's a great story. My Mom busted me once when I came home from College for the summer and brought some bag seed with me. She found the seeds and asked what they were ---- Thinking fast I told her they were geranium seeds. She didn't say anything but years later she told me she knew what they were... Busted....

Orchids were really interesting to breed. The orchid seed is one of the most ancient forms of plant and does not have the protein needed to live prior to photosynthesis begins. You have to put your dust size seeds into a gelatin with a specific fungus under sterile test tube conditions. The fungus creates a symbiotic relationship with the seed and allows for the plant to grow until photosynthesis begins.

It is so much easier to just pop a seed... LOL

I've been noticing that my bigger plants (Olga and Dee) get droopy leaves every day after their watering. Is this normal?

BTW - I'm growing in CoCo so can't imagine that it is overwatering and the plants are not sitting in water. The girls get their nap 3 hours after watering and perk back up after their nap.

Yeah...I was thinking about the driver outside the tent. I wonder if I can hack and relocated the driver on my off brand 1200 watt LED unit..... I may have to take it apart. I'll post it in my journal if it is possible.

I think you should be able to hack the driver from your off brand LED. The nice thing with my components is that it is all plug and play and no soldering is required. I would suspect that the driver in your LED is probably hard wired. I guess you won't know until you open it up.

The other nice things with my Passive Heatsinks is there is no need for fans to cool the COBS.
